Hello everybunny, Here is an anecdotal video about working in Japan for 10 years, please leave me your questions and experiences! Thanks for watching and please subscribe!
thank you as always for the video! feeling reassured i can make it here, even if maybe i don't love whatever job will be paying my bills. idk what the future is going to look like but its so important to have realistic expectations and not trend too negative or too idealistic. everyone needs a dose of reality juice now and again
What is your opinion of the bad reputation English teachers get now a days? I think its a good a job as any but i often hear people say its a very low wage unskilled job
Salaries are not great in Japan in general, teaching English covers so many areas, ALT, Eikaiwa, universities, companies, private etc. Theres different levels and salaries so it’s hard to put them under any bracket, but it’s definitely not unskilled.
Finding a job is hell these days. This is done on purpose. Businesses don't like that us workers are getting more power. Also, you have had an absolutely wild time working here.
Oh wow congrats for 10 years in Japan!! I wanna ask with having side jobs in Japan, how do you go about getting them? I've heard a lot that you can't have any job outside what your visa says and also that many English teaching jobs forbid doing any outside work too 😭 So if you want both a main and side gig what can you do?! 💞✨️✨️ Also is doing japanese taxes a nightmare with many side jobs lol
You can get an “extra activities” stamp on your visa so you can do side jobs! Also it’s fine if you earn under a certain amount per year :3 the jobs I take are usually fine with side jobs but I know ALT jobs can be weird about it sometimes. I think they’re only weird if it’s like a bar or something like that?
I never thought that being an English teacher in Japan would be that unstable. I worked in an engineer firm in Japan for 3 years as an inter-company transfer employee. I started living there a couple of months before the start of pandemic. The company is almost boderline black. My workload is severely overestimated by my supervisors. They say it's okay to not overtime but they said it in a guilt tripping way. My coworkers are nice people but the workload is just unjustifiable. I love Japan as a place but my work-life balance was non-existent on that 3 years.
@@CapsuleBunnyNo, don't be sorry 😅, its okay. I guess my situation was heavily affected by the pandemic. If the virus didn't exist, maybe just maybe, things could've been better for me. しょうがないね。 P.S. You kinda remind me of Kobeni from Chainsawman (although she doesn't wear glasses).
