Abigail A i don’t agree with what they said but i also don’t agree with what you said either. Just because your african does not mean you can’t be ignorant on the topic. black people wear caucasian hairstyles because it is cultural assimilation.
Jamaican here, I watched most of his videos and it's clear he sees hair as an art form, personally i think in art there should not be any gatekeeping. I don't think there is any disrespect here so I wish people give him a break
This is funny. I keep seeing in the comments that everyone/culture can have locs/dreadlocks, and they can. What’s crazy is the texture. Why “Afro” texture, when you can still get locs/dreadlocks with the texture you are naturally born with. I tell you why, because black people make everything look good 💁🏽♀️ PERIOD!!! Don’t debate me on this.
@@reign7157 dreadlocks is from every culture that's why we African Americans/ Africans )black people say locks because locs are the care of hair as in locks are a style that we tend to that started in Africa but dreadlocks/dreads are the natural Notting/dreading of the hair that's why dreads belong to everyone and we African Americans claim locks because they are actually ours and it's a more respectful term
I'm glad koreans are appreciating African culture and being inspired by our hair :) I hope one day you guys stop calling them "Reggae Hair" as that's not what they're called 😂
@@tyler_walks17 because it takes so many steps for them to get an afrocentric where as someone who is black all wr have to do is wash it and it's done lol. I didnt know they had to do all that just to get it. I thought they just added the dreads so it fascinated me
Had I not seen it, I wouldn't believe it was possible. Dude, your skills are mad deep. I love that look. He spent as much time in your chair as I do in my stylist's. 😊😉
Ya'll sound like my 50ish old man neighbors that can't think outside the box, conventional, thick headed punks. Just cause someone that are not black do dreadlocks you think they wanna be black?? lol Com'on man It's 2020. When you're getting straight hair does that mean you wanna be white or asian? No coz you think it looks good, right? It's okay to be self conscious but please not in real life It's hard to watch.
Fiorella I get what pissed you off but you didn't get my point. Have I mentioned that straight hair belongs to some race? I only said "getting straight hair means you wanna be white/asian?" since majority of asian and white have straight mybe curly hair. But it doesn't mean it belongs to them. I don't even know what that means. I'm damn aware that some black born with straight at a same time asian born with nappy hair. All I'm saying is you shouldn't assume what should belong to some race.
I was honestly more amazed that this work was done by men. Who whould've thought there would be a time when ppl with "good" hair would pay to have our hair. It looked really good.
@@psychobabes1374 you are right but they don't look as good when you don't have curly/coily hair. In my opinion locs that are started from straight hair look ratty and dirty, like the person doesn't bathe. When they are cultivated from curly hair they look uniform and neat, like they are supposed to be there. This guys locs look good.
SHEESH! Y’all hooked him up!! It looks so good. On another note....Crazy how we’re loved and hated at the same time. People literally getting kicked out of school and losing jobs for our “untamed” “wild” “distracting” “unprofessional” natural hair, but then I see stuff like this. I’m so confused 😂 y’all gotta make a decision.
Neo Shante it’s because everyone person is an unique individual with their own thoughts. If you’re a racist it’s because you’re a shit person not because of your race. Finally now people are starting to appreciate different cultures that were hated on for so long.
White people prolly do get kicked out of school for dreads but it don’t be ending up on the news because that’s not theirs natural hair and it’s considered black peoples natural hair.
Ricardo nah they never kick white people out. I seen white people have rainbow hair spiky hair and all that crazy shit but yet they always had some to say bout dreads or Afro hair.
bruh u think being black with dreads is hard? try being white with dreads. everyone discriminates, even you too. jobless, homeless, pot smoking hippies who are all vegan and athiest. i have dreads and i am none of these things. you cant put a blanket term over a diverse group of people all belonging to one race... its called RACISM
Idk why people think Dreads are cultural appropriation, it’s the natural formation of hair no matter the race. Dreads are found throughout ancient culture of both white and black people.
59lock nah that’s incorrect, like I said in my comment it’s found everywhere through history, Vikings thousands of years ago were dread locking and braiding they’re hair. it dosnt belong to anyone.
Bruh let people wear what dey want, ppl ain’t say yu tryna look asian/white when you got you hair straightened or Indian when you in dreads in...?? Jus wear what yu want without acting dumb, stop that gatekeepin shii and spread the love ✊🏽💕
A girl commented "This made me realize how dope my hair really is, like even with all that work he still didn't achieve type 4 Hair". This is somewhat passive aggressive considering what she replied afterwards... People with type 4 hair try to straighten it, try to achieve type 3 hair and they can't, you can always tell their hair is type 4 but noone be commenting about it. Let ppl do what they want without the constant need of complaining.
I see alot of pressed ppl in tge comments so im here as a black person to say how lovely to see people from other cultures embracing our styles and mastering it
Yo that's insane cuz ik you can't get good dreads with strait hair and he got a perm so it could be curly and easier so they can pick it out and do dreads, that honestly the smartest way to do it so props to who ever had the idea.
Just make sure that you also advocate for black people rights especially when it come to be discriminated against because of our hair because while it may be just a style for you many of us loose employment and even put out of school for the way our hair naturally grows
I do appreciate that he took time to curl the hair before dreading it vs when cultures keep the hair straight and just matte it up . I do hope with the appreciation that people take time to learn the culture so they can understand it’s significance . I’m glad to see hair that got me bullied as a kid is now being accepted and appreciated . Times have changed
As a black women with dreads I can say he look hella cute I know it takes a longer time to do dreads with different hair textures but YALL DID A GOOD ASS JOB💖💖 I hope he keeps it it fits him so we'll💞💞
When black girl wear false straight hair she is beautiful when an asian wear dreads he is beautiful too. Appropriation is not bad this is freedom to be or be what you want. Deep work congrats guys!
This makes me uncomfortable... they’re trying too hard to be black and, what it seems, “gangsta”. Yuck. Being Asian doesn’t give you a pass to commodify another culture.
Y’all did a damn good job! The time and dedication it took just to make this look is appreciated. I love that y’all are showing the beauty of hair like mine 💜
People they were of African descent initially. The afro-gene got bred out. This is why they can revert the hair back with manipulation. Some can revert back better than other.
Hair is art. And this is the way he's choosing to express himself in a country with very little multiculturalism. Just glad there's somebody who can do this and does it well!
It's a nice looking style. Y'all want to pull the appropriation card, but this isn't any different from us getting a perm or a weave. I saw a comment stating that this person could've just done the style with the texture they were born with, but just like this man did this _perm_ to achieve the texture to make this look work, many black people also do perms to achieve a texture they want. And it's not just to make their hair more manageable. It's the _same_ thing. No one pressured you to assimilate, you just did it. This man wasn't pressured to assimilate either.
We perm our hair to get it straight and they're out here doing the opposite...this world is sooo weird ,we can't accept what we have and learn to work with that instead tryin to look like a different race .....he did a good job though thats talent
yeah the world i pretty fkg weird haha, evreyone shoud just get what they like, it shouldn't be about anything else, just do what you want with your hair it should be that simple
I would like to say asian brothers and sisters that choose to enjoy African / Black culture please be responsible I'm a black man and I am flattered but and however please respect the culture. Vice versa
That was honestly really cool to see how they got his hair like that. Lookin like mine when I hop out the shower 😄 he's really rockin those dreads tho 💙👌
I have been a hairstylist over 8 years and I think this is amazing . I want to offer this to my clients in Texas. Thanks for this video. Don't stop creating beautiful hair magic
tf ? it's just a haircut, I dont care who or where it comes from, if i see a cut i like i'll do it, it ain't about wanting to be black, it just looks good it's that simple
How do you know the non black people getting this hairstyle are the same ones calling black people unkept dirty and unprofessional. You don’t. So let them live tf
Juanis That’s person is saying truth. They are not attacking people who do it but the people in society who does which is like 75-80 percent. All I got say is when someone sees a black person with dreads they see dirty , weed smoker, low life etc. but let a white person do this or another race it’s omgsh they’re so hip omg she’s so cool or omg she’s a hippie.
Technically these are locs, not dreads (two different categories) but they look good! I remember starting my loc journey almost a year ago, even with 4c it’s taken awhile, but I love my hair so much. Make sure to not get them retwisted to often or you’ll get hair loss.
I love what your doing! Where do peeps who get into this style hang out at in Korea? I have locs as well and i'd love to meet some like-minded people the next time im over for vacation.
Bro you lot arguing so much about who can get dreadlocks or not. Let's agree black people look good with dreads. But that doesnt mean it originated from there, my great grandad wore dreads and he was afghan/mughal. Sadhus, vikings and alot of other types also were dreads, it has a lot of meaning other than just a hairstyle. But its 2020 people wear it cause it looks nice. There aint no harm in it. If any black people are so triggered over that you are dumb, theres a hundreds of things from the culture that is beautiful, stop fighting over hair, youre making as if thats the ONLY thing.
I'm a black girl who personally loves Asian men! Asian men with "black swagg" is just....GOD YES!! Mos def come find me 😉 ❤💛💙 Locs are fire🔥btw! You did ya thang
Just wondering do you ever come out to the Bay Area? I would love to get my hair done by you. No one out here knows how to do a clean job on asian hair like you do
This is the first loc transformation on straight hair that makes sense. I'm so glad I didn't see any back combing. Well done guys, you truly blessed his crown
Wow the amount of time and effort put into this, they did an amazing job! It looked amazing😻 most ppl wud just use dreads braids so this was really awesome
This technique can be used on my head. I cant get a afro for nothing my hair is so straight. I would love to loc my own head naturally this was a fast system...you guys did a good job
It’s 2020 guys we’re never gonna get anywhere if we don’t move forward. I personally love it🤷🏽♀️ it’s nice to see cultures being shared around the globe. Make love not war ✌🏽 ☮️
My brother is mixed so he has black hair but it’s not really thick so I had to crochet and it took so long I was doin it by myself and everything 😭😭My arms broke
Bro keep this video. I’m black with dreads and this was actually dope. It’s a tutorial . Nobody be complaining when y’all sewing other people hair on y’all head . That shit is wayyyy weirder than this man with dreads.
You shouldn't have to insult others to compliment someone else they do it to protect their hair and to help it grow nobody in the comments is talking shit on these people so I dont see the point in you saying all of that
BoredNoob 14 stop wearing other people hair and stay out your feelings . You gone have alopecia when you 40. Protect your own hair by not wearing other people’s
HIPPIE BUDDHA no problem, don’t listen to the haters. You’re inspiring others and welcoming them to different hair styles and textures. That’s a talent and gift. I’m currently trying to learn korean and you’re educating people with black hair textures. There’s no wrong with that. We’re all learning about each others cultures. Will definitely head over to your store next time I’m in Korea. 항상 화이팅! 🙌🏾🤍
