Amazing. I would not even guess that hair conditioner would give a lather and that the lather would stay that way so long when put onto the face. Also worth trying is make a bowl lather with hair SHAMPOO. I did this. Poor lather but good hair wetting and good lubrication & protection for the skin against the blade.
Haha. Thanks for the shout out!. Necessity is the mother of invention. Finding yourself in a motel for a night or two and no shaving cream leads to strange discoveries. They all seem to have those little tubes of shampoo, conditioner and mouthwash...and gave it a go and voila....just used your basic Gillette multi blade razor but it was fine. Final result was smooth as a baby’s butt!
What is the name of this hair conditioner product? Many wet-shavers may be interested in trying.(Okay okay okay, Pantene Smooth And Sleek. Not identified until near end of the video.)
Hair shampoo and conditioners are specifically engineered for the hair follicles and scalp. Our skin is the largest organ of our bodies, and different regions require different alkalinities. While I'm glad this experiment worked in your favor, I strongly recommend a good quality shave soap or cream designed solely with the delicate needs of the facial skin. Which is to speak nothing of allergies to certain conditioner ingredients, and most all artisan shave soaps have a clean ingredient list. The sulphates found in most common hair conditioners are terrible for the skin, and please don't forget the skin absorbs topicals into the bloodstream. While conditioner might work in a pinch, i.e. travel, I'm afraid this one gets the big boot.
I'm a full body scaper (judge me idc lol) so shaving cream is too expensive for me. I've been using conditioners for years. However, I've experimented with many and I must say that the quality does make a huge difference. Pantene is one I would deem low quality. there are some conditioners that are extremely slick and work significantly better even than some shaving creams. As of right now, i use a conditioner called Luseta. I purchased it at TJ Max (I believe Ross, Burlington, and Marshall's also carry it). I buy their Tea Tree & Argan Oil edition that comes in a large dark green pump bottle .. which makes things even more convenient for me. Only $8.99 and lasts a long time. I believe it might be the Argan Oil that makes it extremely slick. I just shower, lather up my exfoliating gloves with a dead sea salt soap bar, exfoliate, rinse, apply the conditioner as if though I was giving myself a deep tissue oil massage, and begin shaving. The blade glides soooo smoothly. Also, I don't know if this conditioner has menthol, but there is a subtle yet nice cooling sensation.
moving into SE razor world, but I've used hair conditioner for shaving for about 10 years. free and easy. Make sure not to leave some on your face too long(>5 minutes), as can irritate your skin. Even the expensive "your wife buys for her hair" conditioners.
No offense, I am laughing. Life is way too short to spend that long shaving! Yes, I wash my cast iron in the sink with soap and a brush too! I can only imaging what it would have been like to shave my legs that way when I rode too many hours and too many hills to race "Puke Green" bikes. I like your channel for the tricycle stuff since I am considering one to accommodate age and damage from too many hours and hills...you understand...Carry on and enjoy your wheels and razors!
Hi J and thanks for putting up with our shaving vids. :) We actually did a video where my brother shaved his legs with a straight razor! Not recommended! Have fun with the trike exploration. I still ride my road bikes but there is a certain "fun" aspect to riding a trike.
