Strange Berry Picker Disappearances 

Hey everyone, I had a bit of a sore throat while recording this one, so hopefully that's not too noticeable. There's some odd disappearances in here, especially towards the second half of the video so get your thinking hat on for those and let me know your thoughts and opinions. Also, I couldn't add pictures of the missing other than in the final instance because they were just too long ago and I couldn't find any. I have a berry picking disappearance story! Back when my grandpa was young in Newfoundland he went berry picking with his friend and his friends grandpa. The grandpa went off by himself and he was never found. They found his hat and his empty berry bucket. My grandpa was a suspect in his disappearance.

Years ago, I read about a man in the UK who disappeared while out in the woods. He was found, some days later, half conscious and very dazed and ccnfused, lying by a lake with one foot in the water. He was taken to hospital and when better he was able to talk about how he had woken up in a strange hospital where the staff spoke and moved in slow motion - which apparently ties up with being in another dimension. The abels in the clothes that he had been found in could not be traced to anywhere in this world - and it's highly unlikely that someone would sew made-up labels into their clothes! He eventually returned to his normal life. I believe the case was reported in the British Journal of Psychiatry. Great video! Many thanks for posting 💞

I'm having a very hard time personally today it's rough I just wanted too say thank you so very much for your videos because it helped me feel a little better today and that meant the world too me♥♥

The REAL mystery is the constant and seeming lack of inquisitiveness on the part of police and/or investigators as to WHAT the hell happened to these people!!! No one ever raised the subject with these folks?!

This one hit close to home, I live in Newfoundland, Canada and over the years I've heard a ton of different stories about disappearances while berry picking. I don't think there are many people around here who don't know of a story they could tell you.

It’s obvious most of these people are being abducted by someone or something unknown. Strangely, while some people are found alive without memory, some are found Dead months later. I wonder what the criteria is for being allowed to live, without memories of the experience, Or winding up dead. Just another mystery. Great video as always, keep them coming

Okay, there are several things that creep me out when it comes to disappearances in the woods... 1) It happens in an area the victim is familiar with 2) It happens while the victim is with other people 3) They turn up with no memory of what happened 4) They turn up in an area that has been searched Any one of those things is enough to make me second guess a walk on the trails. But William's disappearance and death?! HEEBEE JEEBEES!!!!! Like, what the hell??? If you go hiking, aren't alone, you're a fit/healthy person, and you know the area and you still go missing?! What happens does a hole open up in the ground Loony Tunes style?!

There are a group of skeptics of David's research and actually laugh at his documented observations and the similarities of many of the disappearances. I find it utterly ridiculous and rather cruel for anyone to laugh at these situations of people going missing and mostly end up deceased. The fact that there is a group of people who are trying to dis-credit the work done on these cases. Can't they find anything else to do?? They must have extremely boring lives.

Whenever we went berry picking my father would stand watch with a rifel.

Can you imagine being in the military and it's freaking berry picking that gets you? Not an enemy combatant or the hellish environment, but berries?

It is not because ofthe berries, nor is it the picking of the berries, but the lack of awareness of surroundings, while picking berries.

The surprise here in Alaska is due to having the man be found alive...if at all. Most that go missing (witch are MANY a year) rarely gets found and nearly never alive and unharmed. We get used to hearing about the missing found in spring after break up.

Good focus on the dogs, its THE most perplexing issue for me. I get sometimes not getting a hit but when they bring in many dogs it just seems unlikely that its the dogs not wanting to work.

I wish someone would like livestream a trip to where these disappearances happen and see what’s out there

The last one had no shoes on when they found her. Shoe removal is a common theme in these missing cases. I wonder if they asked her about that.

I like picking my berries in the produce department, of my local grocery store!

I live in Tasmania, Australia & Frank is exactly right, if the dogs don't react, then wasn't ever anything there in the first place!

That lady that showed up in her shed on the farm, where 2000 ppl were looking for her. Was NEVER missing to begin with. She likely ran off with some man, didnt' want to bring shame to her family and made the whole thing up.

Hearing that they get sleepy reminds me of the scene in The Wizard of Oz where Dorothy and The Lion fall asleep in the poppy field..

This was an outstanding and very interesting production. Your in-depth research is to be commended and it is just one of the things that makes this channel a cut above similar channels. All of these cases are very strange but the Fort Knox disappearance really stands out. I looked it up and being pigeon toed usually disqualifies anyone from joining the Army as they cannot easily march, hike or perform other physical activities that are required in Boot Camp and later on. And “he talks out of the side of his mouth...?” Why? Is that another deformity? Regardless, that is another very odd component to this sad event. You have given everyone a lot to think about with all of these stories. Just FYI, yes, David Paulides still talks about berry picking being a factor in disappearances and he mentioned it again in one of his recent videos. He said that he recently went picking huckleberries and he noticed how much concentration it takes... so perhaps berry pickers are so intent on their task that they don’t notice anything around them. They need to HPNOTIZE these people when they find them and have any memory as where they are !!!!

As someone who was lost in the outback in a mining area with old holes everywhere as a child, youd be surprised exactly how far someone can walk when in fear. The people who i ended up finding in the middle of nowhere could not believe how i had got there within a day and without hitting something like a fence. I did go on some roads at the start of my walk but when i realised the road was gone i was already lost. I had a dog with me but he wouldnt "go home" for me to follow. I was lucky i kept my head and started walking in a straight line unfortunately it was the wrong direction from where i had come from but it was near enough to the people who were putting down a bore hole on "spec" for me to hear the motor and adjust my heading.

So ez to get lost in the woods. I had barely entered and got lost right away. It all looks alike no matter which way you look. I was scared began walking faster & w more intent. Was way off course ended up pretty far when i found a lake. I had to go back to end up where my family was parked& camping. Do not go wout a cumpus. Do not enter alone. Take protection. Water & snacks even if you are just going to look around. You never know until its happened to you. Take the advice. Wen i finally saw our rv i was sooo happy to c my dad!! Even my step mom.lol. I was 14 years old.

These people weren't lost. They were taken, then returned.

Spirit is what happen, it happen to my uncle when he was a child but not with picking berries , it happen one night when my uncle was sleeping and the next day when they wake up my uncle was not in his bed and no where to be found , so they started looking for him out side at the neighbors every where and later in the forest with police and everything , and they found my uncle crying between center of surrounded of cactus , and he was only his under wear just how he went to sleep last night, the problem was they had to cut cactus to get to him, the cactus were so over grown over each other that was no way how the hell he got there , after couple ours cutting and removing cactus they get to him , and the most strange part of it was that he had not one single cactus sting on him and his foot and body was completely clean no sting no dust nothing, its was like that he just woke up there, every body were mind boggling no one could explain how he got there, the creepy part was when asking him how he got there my uncle said, a old woman dressed completely in black and she had black eyes grabs him and he said there were flying and put him there and left, now what to think was my uncle dreaming was he hallucinating we never will now what happen and how a 6 year old boy got there in the first place and that happen when my uncle was a child 6 year old.

Sounds like an alien abduction or something horrible like that.. zapped the berry pickers up.. then put them back all confused and disoriented... very disturbing:(

1992 we went to Montana visiting friends. Gary took me to the Blackfoot Indian Reservation to see the wild life we drove through very slowly. There were many animals of different types. A week before they found a hiker from California either on or near the reservation. They know this was a grizzle that turned him into lunch! The hiker had refused to even carry pepper spray because as he put it "I have little bells to scare the bears away!" HELLO. A week after he went missing my friend said piles of bear scant containing digested human flesh and yes bells where found. I asked Gary if he was pulling my leg and he said "Oh no this really happened and for some reason people from California come here and they don't want to listen!" He also said "berries were mixed in with the human remains." I do not know which type of berries I decided then to stay clear of wild berries and bears.

Berry berry serious indeed! They do say though, that in "strawberry fields, nothing is real..." However, "I found my thrill on blueberry hill" I wonder what Chuck BERRY would have to say about all this, if he were still alive. I once owned a BlackBerry, but it became defunct, now I just eat them.

I failed to thank you for taking the time to share these fascinating stories with us. I'm disappointed that in the hundreds if not thousands of similar stories the people/children who were found after going missing were not able to recall what exactly happened to them. Strange cases indeed.

So I live right smack in the middle of where William went missing. I'm in the town of Bedford and I could probably find a map for you of what the whole area looked like back then. It's definitely wayyyyy different now than it was in the 1930's. Let me know if you're interested!

I’m a former Sheriffs Department Search & Rescue Deputy and Staff EMA Officer. I’ve been on many SAR missions on land and water. Search Dogs are extremely effective, as long as the authorities take steps to limit the number of people walking around contaminating the initial search area and adding their own unique scents. I’ve never witnessed search dogs acting bizarrely as described in a number of David Paulides Missing 411 cases. We’ve had access to FLIR equipped helicopters, jet skis, quads, boats and our Swift water rescue unit. Yes, it’s true that the vast majority of Search & Rescue Professionals are non paid volunteers, but that definitely doesn’t mean they aren’t true Pros. On the contrary, we took pride in doing the very best we could to locate subjects and (unfortunately ) recover the deceased when necessary.

Berry picking? Heck my brothers tried many times to lose me in corn fields in Iowa when I was little.

Hell yeah berry pickers could be in trouble! When I was like 12, my dad and uncle went looking for a good patch of wild black berries. Right well when they found the patch, there was a great smell and something rushed out of that patch area... they said bear, but looking back I say bigfoot!

It never ceases to amaze me how little is publicly known about these cases. Everyone seems to struggle to find anything truly tangible in the news or other reports. It's sooo easy to get lost, while picking berries! Bc every person is totally focused onto the berries and of course they're splitting up, as you'll not find many berries, if three whole group stays together and is picking on the same spot. I've been picking these very small little "wood-strawberries", as well as raspberries and blackberries a lot as a child, it's been one of my favourite hobbies as well - and while this wasn't the case in Austria/Europe, (where I live), I can certainly imagine and see, how people can lose sight of each other very easily, while everybody's focused onto "their own next berry-bush" they wanna harvest; or "plant", strawberries aren't exactly "growing in very high bushes", like e.g. raspberries and blackberries ... strawberries are only growing on the ground here - there's barely dense brush here in Austrian woods, but even we had to call each other cause of losing sight, as each person was walking into a totally different direction... In the case of the woman Mary being found in the middle of thick underbrush, I think, she likely had gotten into a naturally grown "labyrinth of berry-bushes" - and the search and rescue people didn't wanna waste time, by searching the entrance to this "bush-labyrinth". I never truly got lost, but remember wandering off accidentally relatively often, while e.g. searching for the entrance of a raspberry labyrinth, (as of course I saw the biggest amount of berries inside these labyrinths) and it took us a while, to find each other again afterwards. PS. Can't explain the memory loss, but this certainly can happen to very young kids and the elderly, when they finally notice, they got lost entirely and get confused due to realizing that.

I like the cinematic earth transition when changing to talk about another area. Also I know others liked it but I wasnt a fan of the new artwork movie style you were using for a while . I like how it is now, with video clips of areas and still images. That's just my 2 cents for the evening. Take care.

The same thing happened with the couple from the Pine Barrens in NJ. The police had to cut back dense brush and thick foliage to get them out of the area they were stuck in. Unfortunately they were dead. It is completely baffling as to how or why they would climb or crawl into sticker bushes etc.

I think there are bears sitting in blinds waiting for the people to show up for the berries.😉 Turn about is fair play, huh

It's kind of weird.....my grandma used to take me berry picking when I was little. She told me every time, we had to take a gift for the earth, that if you take a gift from the earth, you have to give one back in return. I asked her what would happen if you didn't....she said the earth would take it's due. I never equated that to going missing or being ominous or anything back then but now....that's totally creepy. I wish she was still here so I could ask her more about it. We would always take bread or milk and leave it a little ways off from the berry patch as a gift. I believe I've read a similar tradition but in regards to the fae.

Honestly, how many people want to hear that their loved one was _eaten_ by an Apex predator? ZERO! _No one_ ever wants to hear that. Even if it was true. The rangers & officials are _never_ going to tell the family or the public. It's _always_ going to be a 'missing person'. It saves the officials, a ton of headaches like massive amounts of people avoiding the parks & others running around with guns killing everything that moves, including other people! For everyone's safety, they'll _always_ say the person is _lost..._ no matter what!

I did really much of the berry picking as young in the north of Sweden with family and it’s so easy to get lost when picking berries cause you often just look down into the ground for the berries and move a long as you go, and you can go far without checking up were you are even if you think you only moved 100meters, suddenly you are far away and not really sure were you family are, and the woods often looks the same. Even if I never got lost it’s so very easy to do. You are in your own mind when picking berries and you often follow the berries more then anything else. I have also been on the searcher side a lot in my work and even if there are elderly people who gets lost, not only in the woods, the often managed to go far longer then anyone thinks they will ever do. But it’s an amazing feeling when they are found alive. The sad part is that you sometimes have to suspend searches for the night cause it’s not possible to search, that is so frustrating cause the only thing you want to do is to search nonstop to find this person.

Those found some time later were perhaps suffering from severe stress and fell into a fugue like state? of course, we don't have any medical info. Regardless, love those strange but true stories.
