Fancy Manicure! The homeowner sure does like periwinkle blue. The small room is called a 'mud room', shoes and jackets, winter and light outdoor/garden tools, etc. Fabulous find! SO sad the children didn't tend to the estate. I do appreciate the history of the home, Thank you!

Yes, I remember the mud rooms in the old farm houses. When you finished feeding the chickens, hogs and cows, then mucking out manure and other gram chores….you entered the mud room first and took off your muddy boots, coat, gloves, etc…then went into the kitchen then the bathroom to clean up. I loved those old farm houses. Not all of them had fireplaces. Usually there was a wood burning stove in the kitchen or living room area and that kept the house warm. I didn’t see one in this house though….I found that odd. How did she keep warm in there?

It's sad that this is seen way too often. The older generation, who grew up on family unity, die alone, and their belongings are considered junk and left to rot. Even people with family or grandchildren are abandoned (except for their valuables $$). My neighbor recently passed away, and her children wanted nothing to do with her apartment, so the company threw all of her belongings over the balcony, into a big dumpster.

@@justchill4885 My neighbor at 82 also died and her sons sold everything, even the home she lived in and they seldom visited her in. If I had died and my house was left like this, I would rather the people making videos just get a big truck and take anything that had survived the looters and squatters. There is furniture there that would be WANTED by someone. They could polish it and get it back to good condition and USE it. The books could go to some book fair run by a church or school and they could go to people who want them and so on. But Afterwards, just bring a truck and clean the rest up or hire people to do it. It would not please the lady to just let the looters/squatters win. Someone actually DOES own this house and land. It might be an individual or a bank. The bank might even pay someone to do this so they could either fix the house or demolish it and sell the land. Doing things like that might even become a business for someone. After watching several videos like this, there could certainly be a market for just this kind of thing. Everyone would benefit so it might even merit local or state grants to start. And how much more would the videos be watched if a "transformation one" followed

Abandoned farm houses and homesteads are my favorite. As a homestead owner, I can imagine all the beautiful life that took once place there. New animals being born, a beautiful garden and chickens free ranging... Singing and laughing in the kitchen while making meals with love. I am not saying that is exactly how it was here, but my imagination badly wants for it to be. Also, I love the Bible verses! ❤

The old pictures of her children probably , the way that she had the photos out and I can just imagine her sitting there at the desk looking out the window and praying that her children would come anytime to see her , and praying that God keep them safe . It looked like she always kept her children's bedrooms just like they left them , how nice it would of been for her grandchildren to of been able to come for some time with her and slept in their parents old bedrooms . This would be a beautiful place to live and to raise children , lots of room to grow , inside and out . The upstairs furniture looked to be the early nineteen hundreds, kitchen was mid sixties. Fridge could have been eighties. Cause they no longer sold the colored appliances . I'm thinking the the older furniture belonged to that persons parents, and possibly a few pieces may be older and had belonged to grandparents, either on her side of the family or the husband's. By no means did this family have plenty of money. Home in later years was not kept up, and furnishings was average. What happens when you get old and depend on just Social Security. It's hard to come up with the money for a new roof and be able to hire somebody to paint a house that large inside an out.

If the elderly owner doesn’t maintain that old wood house, it deteriorates and by the time they pass away…the house is in such a bad state of disrepair it’s not worth claiming or renovating for resale…back taxes, etc… it costs more to claim and try to sell n such a poor state hat it’s not worth it. Let the bank or the county take it. My sister lives alone and her property taxes are $9,000 per year. When she can’t make all the repairs on her house anymore, it will start to rot and when she can’t work anymore her income will drop which means she’ll have hard time paying her taxes. If she doesn’t pay her property taxes for say two or three years then she passes away….I would have to pay the $27,000 in back taxes, plus completely renovate the house which would cost about $100,000 or so just so I could sell the house. And that’s what will likely happen with her. Since her husband died she’s having a hard time keeping up with repairs, the heating costs in the winter and she drives a 23 year old truck because she has no money. I have no idea if she’s been paying her property taxes regularly. It’s not my business to push myself into her life and tell her what to do…she wouldn’t listen anyway and we never got along that great but I’m the only one left to claim anything of hers when she passes. The only thing I would go there for is to see if she had any pets and to make sure they’re taken care of and not left abandoned in her house. That’s about it. The county can have the house. I don’t want it.
@victorcontreras9138
@victorcontreras9138 2 года назад
@@penelopelopez8296 A suggestion: You might check with tax office and they can tell you if taxes are current or how much is owed. They are public records and your sister doesn't have to know. Also, if you are the only one to claim the house should she pass away, lt might be worth it. Perhaps the two of you can improve your relationship and be of beneficial help to each other! I had been through this sort of thing. Consider yourself fortunate to be the only one to be able to inherit a house and property considering the increasing homeless epidemic we have now.

She may have been taken to a nursing home before she passed and the house was left to rot. That happens a lot when the elderly person can’t take care of themselves anymore. The family visits and sees them living in squalor…not eating or bathing and has no idea where they are anymore. Sometimes it’s a neighbor or a tax collector who goes there and sees their condition and calls authorities, then they come in and take them somewhere or contact a family member if possible and they end up in a nursing home…and the house is just left to finish rotting away because it’s value has greatly diminished and repairs would cost a fortune. I know how this happens.

So sad that she died alone, and that her family never came back. They should have come and at least cleaned it out, and they probably could have sold it, so someone else could love it. House was updated in kitchen in the mid sixties. The stove is a coffee brown, also colors for the kitchen were avocado green, and harvest gold. Upstairs in the bedroom, I could imagine opened windows in the early spring, airing out the home, the breezy gently blowing the curtains. The Hershey syrup container, made of plastic, with that modern spout, isn't that old. I remember Hershey syrup being sold in a small can, you had to use a bottle opener on the side that actually was used to puncture a triangle shape in cans to be able to pour out contents, like can milk, can orange and tomato juice. The record player is actually a stereo of the sixties. The colander on the sink is actually a lot older than the little toaster oven. My mother bought one when she had no one to cook for except herself, no need to turn on the stove oven to cook one or two biscuits, she just bought the frozen ones like Mary B biscuits and took out what she needed. My mother passed last year, she was 98. She had out lived our father by 20 years, two of my 3 bothers had passed before her. There was just my brother whom was the second child then myself, the only daughter, our oldest then youngest brother had done passed for some years. So you never know the circumstances why things are left behind. Mother went to live with my brother, he was older so he had retired from work. But by her living with him, he got her to sell the home, he and his wife kept any furniture of value, tossed everything else. Kept the money, then she went into nursing home last year of her life. Mother was blessed in some ways, she never lost her train of thought, she was sharp as a tac! But to bury two of her children was very hard on her. Giving up house keeping as she called it, was hard to. But it was time, I miss my mother, even tho I'm now 67, I still miss her. I can close my eyes and smell her scent. She always used Jergens lotion as far back as my memory takes me.

We may imagine what kind of memories or life this person had. And sad to see that the way this is left behind and feels as though no one cared. But keep in mind we only have theories and sounds like happy thoughts but none of us truly know what goes on behind those doors and how their homes life was or how they were treated growing up.

I love this video. You do an amazing job especially with the history of the houses. In some of the rooms there was a picture laid on some thing I wonder if that was who she wanted those things to go to. And she used a picture to mark that? Very interesting.

There was zero history. He said he was keeping it private. I'll find out everything. This poor lady passed. Time to find out who& where her lame family is. They deserve exactely what they did 4 her......NOTHING. It will all go public

I felt sad to see the purse on her dresser, and the shoes beside her bed. It was almost as if she was just getting ready to go out.

The room from the kitchen that leads to outside was called a mud room. That is where you would take off your shoes and coats from working the farm etc. So you don't get dirty/mud in the house

I would like know what kind of people waste their energy in going into these abandoned homes and tear through everything and break things. The people that lived there have passed away. But still where's the respect.

the last owner really liked to read. That bedroom furniture is super old. It could have been refinished because it is solid wood. Now it's not good due to rat feces, But I think that mirrored vanity would date back to about 1940's. That could have been an heirloom piece.

This is the second video of yours that I have watched as I am a new subscriber. I love how you add the scripture in the beginning. I find it very ministering and such a strange correlation/ connection between the verse you chose and the video . Brilliant work
