Strangely Intriguing - Breitling Avenger Blackbird 44

A client gave me a TAG as a 'thank you' for my advice over the years, this back in 2001. Thankfully he gave me the receipt - circa £750 from Watches of Switzerland - (I didn't like it and was not into watches). I walked into their store in Knightsbridge and there I stayed for hours - fascinated and gobsmacked initially and then hooked. But I will never forget that it was the Breitling Avenger Titanium that I kept going back to. Paid an extra £1,000 to get one (hadn't spent more than £40 on a watch before) and the next day walked in and paid a further £250 as I had to get the Chrono Avenger. Was stolen in 2014 when I returned to South Africa and just in the last few months I have decided to get a 'luxury' watch again. Love the intro to German watches and have been looking at the usual suspects at the £5,000 and below mark. Long comment but my point is thus - I have realised I either buy the latest Chrono Avenger or one from 2021 back to 2001. The watch you could say has me by the balls! Great reviews on this chanel - very helpful albeit my one feedback is 'the man is hard to please!!

This should sum it up for you Mark.. In relation to the inner bezel, it’s known as a Decimal Bezel which will complete the full rotation at the 100 (Marker) It’s far less common than the tachymetre, the decimal bezel divides the minute into 100 parts allowing for the decimal conversion of time. Used primarily for industrial and scientific timing operations - to make calculations of time. The decimal bezel is used in conjunction with the chronograph allowing you to measure and translate time into decimal values in a controlled environment. By starting the central seconds hand of the chronograph a decimal reading making life simpler when having to make longer calculations. Due to it being totalized into the 100/ Scale compared to the 60/Scale it will in fact show a misalignment with the hour markers/number within the bezel scale because of the decimal bezel. YES! I’ve got no idea how you would use a 0-100 on this watch. Surely there must be a reason for it.

I swap out straps daily as you probably already know Derek, and I find it easier with drilled lugs. Some of my watches also fit fat spring bars and unfortunately they don't make quick release fat spring bars😔 Cheers mate , be well and enjoy the Tudor's bezel action, definitely a beauty 👍
