A few years back me and a few friends took some acid and came across your work "Life is flashing before your eyes". It really affected me, and around the same time i started to take my art more seriously and I really think the themes in that video and song pushed me towards that. Im glad you are still making thought provoking content and constantly evolving.
Hey Vince I have a question about your older work (fantasy, malice in wonderland, life is flashing before your eyes), they were hand drawn and scanned into the pc, right? (if so that's beautiful fucking work) and this may be a naive question that is a result of my inexperience with VHS tapes but why are those older videos so heavily encoded? I just wanted to know if you had other copies somewhere or maybe the only copies available are the ones you posted and it was more of an issue with the computation capabilities at the time; either way, you express yourself in this medium in such a uniquely captivating way, one of the only reasons I even bother to come onto youtube anymore is to follow artists like you, meatcrayon, ethereal snake, umami, sadworld, TMH (to name a few). just a huge thank you to indie artists on this platform that make it feel like comfy newgrounds. and btw your Instagram promo in the description is pretty haunting considering the depressing subject matter of this video.
Hi chow -- those older movies were hand drawn and hand colored and *filmed with a camera* -- no computers at all those days -- then VHS *tape* came along -- and finally computers and the internet -- (at first, RU-vid's resolution was so low you couldn't tell it was a third generation copy anyway,)....... Just before this Corona thing happened, AMPAS had started restoration on that stuff and it got delayed by the pandemic, but when they are done, I'll probably put the cleaned up hi-res versions on the internet somewhere....... -- Vince
@@VinceCollins oh wow so those took even more work than I imagined, you are crazy talented dude. What that makes me want to ask now is how long on average do you think it took you to go through the entire creative process on one of those?, I just know you have to be driven to complete one but it's incredible you did so many, were you already really experienced in animation when you started working on those? But anyway that's great man I can't wait! I think vimeo hosts uncompressed but I'm not sure. thank you for responding, I found you from your older work (like most, I hit subscribe but I assumed your account was inactive since the videos were uploaded a decade ago) and it's just good knowing you are still alive and active, also youtube doesn't prioritize you over jimmy kimmel so yeah this is probably the first of your newest videos I have seen.
@@chowder2308 In those old hand-made film days I might make a minute a year -- but everything had a slower pace - for example sending a film to a festival in another country might take 2 months rather than 2 seconds....... Thanks for the comments....... -- Vince
@@VinceCollins thank you for taking the time to share your perspective, through your content, and through these replies. keep doing what you do VInce....... -- Nick
