Hey guys!! Here's Stranger than Fiction... This is one of those movies that I have never heard of initially, but easily fell in love with. This type of genre I absolutely adore, how its both realistic but has a hint of a fantastical idea behind it that twists the story around. I really wish we had more movies like this because I loved it so much. And whats the deal with comedic actors playing serious roles in movies in this genre? (Will Farrell, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams) either way, I wish they did it MORE because it was absolutely phenomenal and I personally believe one of Will Farrell's best performances I have ever witnessed. Please, more movies like this. (Don't request Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind, I mentioned it enough this movie and its one of my favorites, seen it at least 15 times by now)

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. As somewhat of an introvert I relate to Will's character in this movie so much. I rewatch it at least once a year. One of the few DVDs I still have. Thank you so much for reacting to this movie and shining a spotlight on a movie that deserves more attention!

SO glad someone finally reacted to this hidden gem of a movie. I've been suggesting it to every reactor I'm subscribed to. Such an insanely great movie. Oh, and a little nugget...this was actually set in Chicago, they just didn't shoot any of the traditional city landmarks or buildings. Hopefully this could start a wave of others reacting to it.

Most of the reactors have the same few people as their top supporters on Patreon so that's why you notice a lot of reactors put out a reaction to the same movie within a close period. I say that to say, that if the top supporters choose this as the movie they want them to react to, you will see a wave of others reacting to it. Otherwise, it is not likely, unfortunately.

The fact that Will Ferrell goes toe to toe with heavyweights like Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thomspon is a testament to just how good he is in this film. One of my favorite movies. Thank you for sharing it with your audience. I have been waiting for some reaction channel to finally stumble upon this nearly forgotten masterpiece.

Definetly one of the most underrated Will Farrell movies. It's rare to find many of his more serious rolls (especially since Talladega Nights came out in the same year) and he kills it, but I think people have such an expectation for his characters that the beauty in this one is lost on them

This was the most UNDER-APPRECIATED Movie of all time! I've watch it several times over the past several years, And I'd never think it would make it on a reaction channel! Thank You for reacting to it! The Beauty of the Movie was that ALL her characters were ordinary, mundane People that broke free and didn't truly live until just before they Died! It didn't try to answer all it's questions, which is how life really is... And that's what was so immersive about it!

Stranger Than Fiction and The Number 23 were released around the same time. Wildly different movies, both starring well known funny people in considerably more dramatic roles (especially Jim Carrey in the latter), but also rather similar given the surreal nature of their plots.

Fun fact, the original release of this film had, instead of the demolition claw, a giant wrecking ball crash through his apartment - and there was no warning, you didn't see the machinery approaching through the window first, like in this version. The wrecking ball was such a huge and unexpected jump scare for the type of movie this is, the entire theater freaked out (I went to see it when it opened). I actually had no idea they replaced the wrecking ball scene later until I watched your reaction. Interestingly, elsewhere in the movie the characters still reference the "wrecking ball."

Funnily enough, the movie was originally going to go with the book ending within the movie, kind of like the saying that's recently gained traction - "not all heros wear capes". He might've been a boring character who's just discovering life and its beautiful luxuries, but he was still willing to put others before himself, even when faced with the end. It's an incredible movie that deserves so much more recognition.

Awesome film, so glad to see someone reacting to this wonderful hidden gem, that doesn't get nearly enough attention!!! Another perfect example of how amazing comedic actors can be in more dramatic and straight laced roles. Speaking of which, after double checking to make sure on your page, unless you've seen them on your own or the videos were taken down, you are absolutely missing out not watching, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind with Jim Carrey, Good Will Hunting with Robin Williams and The Invention of Lying with Ricky Gervais. Lastly two other films to definitely watch, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, great cast and wonderfully eccentric and fun story and characters; and the hidden gem Grosse Pointe Blank, a brilliant black comedy, with an amazing cast, excellent writing and epic soundtrack.

in the metaphysical, as the writer spent at least 10 years of every waking moment focused on a singular idea, she manifested her imagination as reality,.. 'wishful thinking concept'. If she had just stopped writing to save him she would have actually phased him out of existence as she forgot him. His death scene anchors him in reality due to the awareness of the writer. And with her last paragraph she released him from her existence and he became his own entity that could proceed towards the future without her dictation of his reality,.. Its a beautiful story with many excellent performances,.. it also kind of reflect the story of Tidus and Yuna from FF10,.. i am so very glad you experienced this profound revelation of reality ,.. may you continue expanding your reality .

the reason why the original ending of the book was a "master piece" was because will Ferrell's character was finally about to to get his happily ever after. you hear it when he talks to the professor for the last time, that's its "just really bad timing". he has a friend. a girlfriend. a hobby. and is finally experiencing life. and he chooses to give it up to save a child, one whom he doesn't know at all. doesn't even think about it. Its an ending that's supposed to reaffirm the humanity in each of us. of what we're willing to give up for each other. there's an honest argument that the film itself would be "better" if will Ferrell's character died, but then the meta narrative of the films writing comes into play where the film almost acknowledges that its giving itself a worse ending on purpose, but chooses to give some more weight to "life" than just meaning. its a really clever piece of writing on the weight of life and versus the weight of meaning. one of my favorite films. absolutely delightful

I actually got to watch this movie in theaters with my family. I remembered loving it, but there were so many people who left feeling disappointed (most of my family included). I think the problem was... the marketing really missed the mark with this one. Every commercial portrayed it as a typical Will Ferrell movie (Talladega Nights literally hit theaters three months before this). They showed pretty much every comedy beat from the film and almost none of the serious beats. I think that lead to a lot of expectations for the movie to be much more light-hearted and goofy than it was.

One of my all time favorites. Always makes me cry. Even watching the reaction made me cry. I often watch this along with "The Truman Show" and "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty."

One if the few movies proving will Ferrell can be a real actor. Always liked this movie. One of my favorites, I bought the dvd when it was new and I’ve seen it probably 30 times. My favorite Will movie and my favorite Maggie movie and one of my favorite Dustin Hoffman movies but I probably just have an emotional attachment to it. Also my stepdad worked for the irs. He’s a dork. But I wouldn’t automatically call irs people boring.

Thank you for the review. I saw this at the theater back in the day and thought it was a great movie, and have always been surprised at how many people have slept on this.

I saw this in theaters opening weekend. I had just started dating a girl at the time and it made for a very memorable evening. Definitely a standout performance from Will Ferrell.

So glad you enjoyed this! I saw it in theaters when it came out, and it seemed to have very little press and I've never met many people who have heard of it, but I loved it and it might well be my favorite Will Ferrell movie!
