Gene Holgan the drummer is a living legend. He's played for Dark Angel, Death, Testament, Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, and Old Mans Child to name a few.

He did the band as a joke, to prove that he can make the most violent music possible. Did five exceptional albums and indeed, Strapping young Lad is considered one of the heaviest bands on Earth. Devin’s style now is more prog.

Great performance there. Though on the other hand, that song was on Accelerated Evolution, released in 2003, before this concert. So one could also say that this was already a part of him back then.

I lost a third of my front tooth at a SYL show back in 2002. They played with Nile, Napalm death and the berserkers.. the song I lost it to in the pit was called relentless. Brutal song and brutal pit to go with it.

Gene Hoglan, metal drum God . Ya got to see his playthrough of Strapping Young Lad's " Skeksis " . Gene was Slayers roadie , but since has played for Strapping Young Lad , Fear Factory, Death , Dark Angel, Anthrax, and currently for Testament . Might be a few more too.

He talks about his Strapping period on his podcast. He was seriously f-----d up during this time; on psych meds, doing drugs, drinking heavy, treating his friends ad family like shit. That's why he refuses to return to Strapping today. He looks at it as the most miserable time in his life

This was basically the last show of Strapping Young Lad. Devin was performing while seriously sick and coming out of a panic attack. He told the guys afterward that he was done, ended the band, and went on to different music.
