Great work you are doing and excellent instruction. Love your books and videos. This type of labor is good for the soul. It feels fantastic to turn an oak log into a useful work of art. The Resurrection of what would be a lost art. Thanks for sharing this with humanity. Your work is a blessing.
I don’t understand the purpose of doing the paper pattern? I really appreciate it because I learn how to duplicate the pattern with out spending a week in a museum. Do you transfer the points to wood? Copy and share (sell)? It takes almost as long the draw as it does to carve.
The only purpose for this paper version is for the camera & you. It shows up better than striking & scratching it on the wood. Yes, it's slower than death & easier & quicker to just get at it.
