Very, Very superb video! #90 is so pretty, haulin' the freight, (with a caboose, no less!) Then going over to the excursion cars. I wasn't aware the Strasburg is a freight road also....but you can see the pride they have by the condition of their equipment and trackage. Very well maintained and #89 and #90 are absolutely stunning to watch.... Thank you for the stellar video, a true joy to watch! 😄😊✌
Although little 89 would of been use as a branch line engine when it was younger it does look right seeing it on a freight as 90 does. But they are both beautiful engines, sound great and can easily pull the heaviest tourist trains (which 89 does well to say the least).
I truly want to thank all of you for your wonderful videos!! I literally grew up on the Strasburg Railroad. My family had been involved with the railroad from it's beginning and I spent most of my summers at or near the railroad and the magnificent steam engines. I live in Pittsburgh and don't get to visit the railroad as often as I'd like to.. that's where you all come in.. you bring the railroad to me and I am so very grateful! THANK YOU!!!
The only thing I have a disdain is the day out with Thomas events which kind of ruins the feeling being at this railroad, Other than that things are fine
Strasburg does still use steam for revenue freight, but now it’s usually random, test runs or the diesel is down. This video was shot in 2012, when steam hauled freight was advertised for every Wednesday and Friday for much of the summer.
This reminds me somewhat of what I do now while working at the Black River & Western, in which our number 60 we also occasionally use to haul the daily freights for customers along the route.
