I apologize for the lack of content. Life had taken its course, and I wasn't able to work on this channel for a while. I'm hoping to put more effort into videos here, and I hope to make a proper railroading channel. Thanks for al the support!
My grandpa grew up in Loveland, near one of the Great Western sugar plants. He remembers seeing the GWR locomotives during the twilight years of steam. GWR #90 is usually said to have pulled her last freight train in 1963, but she may have been used for freight as late as 1966. Someday, I hope she returns to her home in Colorado (my home state too)
As of right now 90 will not return to Colorado anytime in the next two years because of her 1472 day incpection she might return for some photo charter in the next decade however
Turns out 90 didn’t go in for her rebuild in 2022, she was having her operating days saved for Christmas 2023. As of July 2024 90 is currently in her rebuild, she went into the shops on January 15th 2024. I was there the day 90 was pushed into the shops by 8618
Yes, #90 was the only 2-10-0 on the Great Western and was at the time the biggest locomotive on the roster. #90 is also the largest locomotive on the Strasburg roster. As the other mainline steam locomotives were all 2-8-0s.
