Strasburg Railroad banshee whistle and a few NS Thoroughbreds. 10/3/24 

On this beautiful early Fall day, we ventured to the Strasburg Railroad to hear #89’s screaming former PRR banshee whistle. Many of the smaller PRR freight steamers had whistles like this. We get a few runbys hearing this spine tingling whistle. The “Ghost Whistle” sequence that the Strasburg Railroad has been doing for so many years was the best I’ve ever heard. The whistle echo heard reverberated widespread. Later in the day we headed over to Sinking Spring on NS and caught a couple of trains, one with a rare SD40E leading a local. We also meet an enthusiastic young man who is one of the great staff of the Strasburg Railroad. Like me, he is a horn and whistle freak 😀😀
