There can be strong winds when fly fishing in the sea. In this video, I will take you out on one of those days. I will talk about what I look for when choosing a spot and how I make sure that my days are as effective as possible so the day won't be spent at places where nothing is going on.

Another great video and very helpful information. Have learned a lot about sea trout fishing from your channel. This would have been helpful to know yesterday trying to fish in 12-16m/s winds.

I have the same experience as you Robert, totally worthless with fly-fishing after sunset at the spring time on southern Swedish coast. Ps. Great content as always 👌

Subscribing, this is very well made. Been fishing since i was like 5, been dryfly fishing since i was 9-10( i'm 30 now). Just started to fish for seatrout a year ago, gotten a long way and caught some decent trouts. But i was looking for someone who EXPLAINED his train of thought. This is next level, should have more subs.

Hi Robert, as Usual ,, Fantastic video! About Fishing, I guess I'm a better flytyier then a fisher man (that says it all lol) haha, but in my short experience of Seatrout fishing, I have hooked more fish in the early mornings and in the middle of the day then in the sunset hours,, I have even had a fantastic experience in bright sunlight, clear water, low water, strong north wind ( blowing out to sea) with the moon nearly as small as it gets, at lunch hour haha, I think I was the Only one on the whole west coast of Sweden that was out fishing that day, looking like an idiot, haha. Nobody believed me when I told the story, and amount of fish hooked and landed, lmao. So of course there are better times and things that can improve your chances, but I think that a lot of times its luck combined with experience and putting out the hours that gives you fish. But some times it is all about the luck.

Most of the time, in winter, fishing has been good for me during the sunset, but at full dark ... meh. Where I live in Alaska, we don't have the same trout as you but we have sea-run arctic char which I think can be fished in very similar ways to your fishing. I'm very glad to see you have your own channel, Robert. Enjoyed see you in various Kanalgratis episodes. Congrats!

Great video thanks. We fish the River Ythan here in the North east of Scotland for seatrout. We have more success during the day and just into dusk but not as much fish in the dark
@FlyFishingbyRobert
@FlyFishingbyRobert 3 года назад
Interesting! Do you have any theory of why?
@chriswestern1309
@chriswestern1309 3 года назад
@@FlyFishingbyRobert Hi Robert, not sure why to be honest. The River Don and Dee nearby are the opposite in terms of the seatrout take well late at night in the dark. The only difference is that the Dee and Don are fresh water farther inland and the Ythan is tidal

We fish for striped bass here in northeastern US and they are said to be almost exclusively nocturnal with dusk and dawn being prime time for their capture.The same is said about trout inland.Yet I’m not sure it’s because I tend to fish at those times almost exclusively myself or whether the fish do indeed strike best then. I have taken good fish in what I would call the worst part of the day,that is broad daylight,it always surprises me,maybe it shouldn’t.🎣

Another excellent video Robert, our sea Bass season has begun, wondering if sea trout fly's might work, instead of the usual Clouser minnow tight lines
@FlyFishingbyRobert
@FlyFishingbyRobert 3 года назад
Thanks. Clouser work great here so I don't see why not.

I fish evenings in the summer. It's usually good fishing untill the sun sets, then its completly dead for a hour or 2. Shit starts happening again at around 0:30. 01:00-03:00 is prime time for summer trout here on the westcoast :)

As a beginning flyfisherman I have learned a lot from your videos, especially about saltwater shore fishing. Thanks for that! 👍🏻 Was just wondering; how far would (or could) you normally cast a aftma # 6 line out when coastal fishing, without windy conditions? What’s your advice? Stay strong and safe 🙏🏼
@FlyFishingbyRobert
@FlyFishingbyRobert 6 месяцев назад
My normal fishing casts are about 15- 20 meters. When I benchmark cast on grass I have measured 34 meters at most. I dont do it ofthen. But a loger cast doesnt catch more fish.

Hej King. Fråga angående Den nya Vision Stifu Seatrout du kör i sista filmen. Go helg!

How come you use a #8 XO line on a #7 rod? Are you using the whole length of the 16 m head when casting?
@FlyFishingbyRobert
@FlyFishingbyRobert 3 года назад
Quite often I don't have the whole head outside the rod tip and then the seven weight line feels too light then I fish two flies. The eight-weight has a 2 gram heavier head.
