Just a heads up to anyone who doesn't have a week to wait for strawb syrup, if you slice the those berries thinner you'll get syrup in a few hours/overnight. Love these videos and the NO PART 2 so much!
My mom ised to do the strawberry and sugar mix when she made quick strawberry shortcake. She'd make biscuits and spoon the strawberries and syrup over a split biscuit, then top with homemade whipped cream. Delicious!! I still make them.
My Mom used to prep strawberries for her strawberry short cake that way, but she'd slice them, put them in a bowl with the sugar on them, and leave it over night in the fridge. It's a great idea because not all fresh strawberries are sweet. We had a family friend who owned a dairy farm, so we often had fresh, full-fat whipped cream to go with it. The syrup mixed with the whipped cream was out of this universe! And with fresh, wood-stove baked short cake, ahhh....
Believe it or not, the strawberry is not the fruit, its a modified stem. The actual fruit of the strawberry plant *is* the seeds, or the pips, that line the skin of the strawberry! Just a interesting little fact about one of my favorite fruits
This is Korean Cheong, a traditional fruit syrup. You just need to have equal parts fruit to sugar and mix for the 1st week, have these going for atleast a month.
@@myste1973leave it out if you want to encourage fermentation. You’ll have to burp the jar and stir daily to stop mold from taking hold. Put it in the fridge to keep the flavor more pure. If you put it in the fridge you don’t have to stir daily but if you don’t it will take forever for all the sugar to dissolve.
I did this also after watching a tutorial by Johnykyunghwo (I think this is how it’s spelled) in Summer and I’m so glad how easy it is to make syrup! I had it with some club soda and it was bomb!
Dude I used to do this with my family but we'd cut a load of strawberries up into smaller pieces and put sliiiiightly less sugar and let it sit in the fridge for 5ish days Absolutely the most amazing summer snack and the syrup is 100/10
Wow man I've used sugar to extract juices from fruit but I never thought of mixing the syrup with seltzer to make my own soda. Thanks! Now we need to experiment and make our own Dr. Pepper so that we can finally have Dr. Pepper without HFCS.
Try Sloes and Gin and sugar. Prick every slow 6-8 times each. A large glass Jar with one pint of each ingredient shake well and leave in a dark place. Turn it upside down every two days until all sugar has melted and strain well. Be very careful it’s rocket fuel but the flavour is very nice indeed. After the first shake do not shake again just turn slowly. Enjoy 😁☘️
This is called Cheong from Korea. The fruit and sugar should be weighed to a one-to-one ratio. If the sugar/fruit ratios are off, it's possible that your fruit will ferment and become fruit alcohol. I highly recommend using golden cane sugar for this recipe.
Actually the "seeds' on the outside of strawberries are actually the fruit and the red flesh that you think of as the "fruit" is actually just receptive issue.
Did you also know that strawberries, despite being called berries, are NOT berries? They're aggregate accessory fruits; A berry is typically a fruiting body comprised of seeds growing _inside_ a single ovary, but with strawberries, each seed is grown, externally, from an individual ovary. This means that, while strawberries are not berries, bananas are very much berries.
We do this for my son. I dont use as much sugar ( about a quarter cup is enough), and i also dont leave it that long, but i make him fruit syrups, put it into his own special designated ice cube trays, and freeze. So when he wants "juice," he gets water in a 5 oz bottle, and 1 or 2 fruit cubes. He loves it, and its not as sugary as other juices. Edited to add: he's 11 months old.
I did this, it only take 1 day to become Syrup but the taste more sugar than the strawberry itself. Fyi, although it only take 1 day, i wait it for a week to taste it not day one.
I can’t remember what a strawberry is but I’m 90% sure that the fleshy bit we eat isn’t the fruit (so one fact check me on this though as my horticulture is a little rusty)
Did you know that strawberries aren't actually berries but bananas are (I heard this several times, i might be wrong because its been a while so i might've forgotten if its strawberries and bananas or something else please dont attack me :') )

My mom made that all the time, when I was a kid. Sliced up strawberries & their sugar syrup with just a bowl of 2% milk - it just brings me thoughts of happiness & joy. Miss you, mom.

I promise you we all appreciate the no part 2. Wayy too many channels make you wait a week for part 2 then end up forgetting about it lol. Your a real one 😅
@@prasunsarkar352 I just peel oranges (+get rid of the white stuff ) Put them in a bowl with sugar than use the potato mashing hand_toll and mash em Put em in a jar and leave em for only a few hours (can't risk fermentation cuz alcohol is Haram ) Than strain the result with spoon and strainer into the cup and drink it .
Fun fact: those “seeds” on the outside of the strawberry are actually called achenes and are smaller fruit on the strawberry that have seeds inside them. Edit: Thanks for the 1K I really appreciate it. This is my first time having a RU-vid comment get this big so I just wanted to say thanks.
@@donotcomply1628 Sorry. I genuinely have no idea how to explain it further but you can look it up on Google and there might be an easier to understand explanation.
There are more fruit with seeds on the outside. Potentilla indica (the mock strawberry) does something similar, as do Cashews whos one seed grows at the base of their fruit.
