I am 64 years old and I was born in Portsmouth. Use to be free to visit Strawberry Bank. At the age of 5 we moved across the river to York Maine. Such a beautiful area. But its changed and has become extremely expensive to live there.

Hey Chris thanks for sharing and I am homesick for NH. Steve and I loved day tripping to Portsmouth and even spent a long winter weekend for one of our anniversaries. Some fun facts for you and Anna: NH actually actually has six sea coast towns and of all the US coastal states NH has the shortest coast, just 13 miles from where it meets with Salisbury, Mass to the border of Maine when you cross over the bridge in Portsmouth you are in Kittery. Fun fact number two: the painting Anna commented on is actual by an American Impressionist, Childe Hassam, he is often credited with promoting the Impressionist movement in the states. That painting is a favorite of mine and I have a print of it. It is The painting is of her garden on the Isles of Shoals, a rocky outcroping of islands off the coast. Her island was Appledore one of the group. She led an interesting life. The painting at Strawbery Banke must be a lithograph because the original is at a museum, maybe in DC. You can look it up. My third fun fact: Prescott Park is an amazing park. The gardens are the test gardens of UNH where each summer they plant drifts of flowers for the public to enjoy while students are studying new varieties. Every summer they have the Prescott Park Arts and one of the events is a musical that runs on weekends all summer, the same musical. It use to be free. You bring a blanket or chairs and it starts at dark. I think they ask for a donation now. It is so much fun an worth a trip back. Well my friend this was a bit verbose but I am writing about a place I love dearly. Thanks for the video!

You are amazing Deb, all those years in the Laconia public Library helped you develop into a resource for so much information. I should have you come along because you know so much more than I do but I am learning and that’s why I like doing these travelogues. There’s just so much to know and learn out there.

Thank you @Saltyhead for the great video! I watched for the Strawbery Banke portion, where it was great to see the exterior and interior of many of the houses and buildings that I can only see a portion of from the Livestream cams at The Banke. But I thoroughly enjoyed the walk at the waterfront, too! And seeing all three bridges and the hard-working tugs of the Piscataqua River was a definite plus! Salivated over the NE Clam Chowdah and Lobstah Roll...OHMIGOSH! And you caught a portion of the Baby Animals exhibit with the working dog...excellent!! Happy trails!

I watch the live cam. I thought people were living in some of the houses by the rink. Glad I saw your video . I was wondering what was around their. Also I could tell you were from Massachusetts because you don’t pronounce your r’s. Lol My husband was from Winchendon. For park the car they didn’t say the r.

There are apartments on the second floor of some of the buildings and people do live in those. I think there are 3 or 4 of them.

The Obama’s can well afford for sure. They probably have good elevation on their home lot just in case.

I also think people lived very long in the past. Vaccines, chemicals, shampoos, bad air isn’t doing us any favors. They ate tons of grass fed beef, eggs, seafood and raw dairy back then.
