@@chris101gray3 i am so, so sorry for your devastating loss.12 years ago i died (didn't breathe for around 20 minutes) and while i was Out There i got to hold my soulmate cat, Worthless, who had died years before and she was young and healthy and purring. i awoke from a weeks long coma with a sense of peace i had never known. you will see your cat again.
Exactly what happened to me. Black one too was coming to our back yard, very skinny. Once I started feeding him opened the door he came in and for about 8 months he is our cat. But he goes out as he wants. Ya,very similar story 😂
He’s just scared, but he wants a home, he just doesn’t know if it’s safe yet. Tuxedo cats are very special. I took in a real feral boy over four years ago. He will only come out for me still. He was very traumaitzed😢. I love him so much, he’s very smart and loving. His name is Jazzy because he’s so handsome he in his tux. Thank you for helping him have a life. It’s worth it❤❤❤❤❤
Had to say goodbye to my tuxedo kitty of 20 years back in 2020. We had a very special bond. He's buried in the back yard marked by a cat statue with angel wings. I miss him greatly. Even now I still talk to him daily. Always cherish your time with Jazzy.
An innocent & adorable angel....we had a "tiger" cat we named Brutus aka "the Brute" follow us home and make us love him. Best and strongest boy ever (all muscle and we thought he may be a bobcat ha ha)...didnt even fathom how special they are until we got him in our lives.
He’s not a feral cat. He’s so comfortable with people, and with the indoor environment as well. If he was a feral he would be too afraid of the indoors and of all the people as well. He’s probably: 1) someone else’s cat 2) gotten lost 3) been abandoned But he’s asking to stay indoors with all of you❤
That's exactly what I was thinking. The few from my feral colony that have accidentally walked into my house when I was coming out to feed them definitely did not act this way. They would hide or panic. It took us 3 days to get one out. I woke up in the middle of the night to find him in my bed, staring at me, then he panicked because he realized I was awake. This guy has definitely been in a home before.
He's so beautiful. He's comfortable around people and he allowed you near him so I'm thinking he isn't feral. Most likely, he belonged to someone in the past. His little meows💞
This is how my coworker adopted his cat. Someone dumped the cat outside and he fed the cat for a few days, @nd one day after work he just let the cat in and the cat has no interest in going back outside ever again.
The tipped ear means he's fixed, if anyone is wondering. Some shelters do this so that if the cat becomes wild, people will know they don't need to catch it. Such a cute thick prince.
he looks more like a house hopper than a stray (he is way too used to humans for a stray- seems like he goes around the neighborhood and gets fed by everyone so he is friendly). I knew a few cats like this whose whole day included going from house to house in the area and getting fed by everyone before going to sleep somewhere
Such a pretty kitty. Met a stray cat on my deck a little over a year ago. Orange with white paws and belly and bright copper eyes. He had a long open wound around his neck where it looked like he may have had a wire around it. He was quite skinny and wouldn't let anybody get close to him. I started feeding him and he eventually became more trusting where he wouldn't run away. Had a nice little cat house on the deck to stay in. I started trying to pet him, but if I reached out he would scratch me without hesitation and be very fearful. I really think he was abused. Even smacked me in the face once when I bent over to give him food while he was sitting on his house. I didn't get angry. Got scratched many many times, sometimes badly, but I kept trying. He eventually allowed me to just pet his back, but I still had to be careful. I have 3 other cats that are also rescues living in the house, and after many months I finally started letting him in. He'd only stay in for short periods and was really nervous at first, but he acclimated and never showed any aggression towards the other cats. Now the cat that wouldn't let anybody get close to him is all healed up and loves to be pet. He'll come over and just plop down in front of me so I can pet him. Loves to roll around and show his pretty belly when I talk to him. I give them all canned food in the evening, and when I'm scraping the food out of the cans and into the bowls he'll get all excited and start licking the back of my leg. He's a very happy kitty now and has taken over most of the furniture, but still likes to spend half the day outside. He's best buds with my other orange cat and they now groom each other. Named him Boots because of his white paws. I keep saying one day he'll be a lap cat, but we're not there quite yet. Soon... Must save all the mew-mews. TLDR: Met a stray abused orange cat with white paws I named Boots, and he is now living a happy pampered life in the house and loves to be pet even though he wouldn't let anybody get within 20 ft of him when I first found him.
My dearly departed cat was a former stray and also had a clipped ear. When they catch strays after they spay or neuter them, they clip the ear like that before they get released, so they know if they get captured again. This kitty clearly feels comfortable (the tail tells all), and to me, it looks like this cat is considering adopting you.
Let him stay. We had very similar story 8 months ago. Black too ,he was very skinny, now he is like a king at home. But we let him out whenever he wants and always comes back.
Friendly, he had a home. Feral cats with clipped ears were trapped and put back into the community. Most are afraid of people. I found a friendly cat with a clipped ear. He was thrown out with the garbage. Prior owner said she did not want a litter box in her home. I have him now. Hes grateful.
You did such a great job making him feel safe. Lovely to see! Your dad sounds like my hubby, who swore no more cats then fell in love with our stray kitten.

We ,my wife and I, did the same with a cat that looks identical to this one ,just last week, he behaves so well ,is obedient, thankful and polite, he knows how to win our hearts, it looks like he was lost or abandoned because to us is obvious he lived being cared for by previous owners, although is also obvious that he survived tough times by the scars on his body. ❤
I had a skinny black tuxedo kitten scratch on my slider doors about 15 years ago, wet, crying, hungry. I let him in, dried him off and fed him as we had another older female cat at the time. He stayed for about 1/2 hour and wanted to go back out. To this day, he scratches on the same door, I let him in to warm up, feed him and rest. He stays a few hours each time now. I talked to my neighbor lady across the street and it turns out they've been letting him in their house for about ten years. He's a bum, but I love him.
Almost looks like the cat that's adopted me. It won't come through my door, but I set food out for it on a daily basis, and it tolerates me as long as I'm not too close.
Poor little boy seems too be missing part of one ear he needs loving and a family the fact he's letting you pet him is a sign to me he's beginning too trust you
Cat: "I just love what you've done to my place...My litter box will look great over here in the corner...what?... Oh...no...feel free to close the door 🫠"
I remember I let a stray cat in once. My neighbor neuters cats for a living at her home, so there were always cats around but a few black cats in particular basically lived in my backyard. One would always come to my door and just look at me. I would leave the door open for fresh air and he’d just come to by the door and look in. One day I opened the screen and he came in. I let him walk up the hallway and when he came back I opened the screen so he could get out if needed and he got so scared with me coming close to him. He did one of those cartoon running in place moves (tile floors) and scrammed for the door 😂. I’ve since moved and I miss him
We had cats that would visit a nearby woodyard for 'second breakfasts'. They were not underfed. We found out when someone from our house visited the woodyard and saw them there looking entirely at home, and when a vet said one of our cats was too fat to run away from a fight, but we weren't overfeeding him.
I moved in to my current house in Aug 2021. A few months later I installed a Eufy doorbell camera. Some time that late winter or early spring I seen a cat rubbing up on my bushes by my porch steps. A few months later I seen it again come up on the porch and leave. Seen this action a few times. I finally broke down and got a food and water dish and started filling it. Fast forward to April 2024, my little mostly grey and white stray comes around about every day at 5pm. Poor thing. I don't think it has ever been pet. :( It never meows that I have heard. The last couple of months I've noticed it won't retreat to the far side of my bushes when I come out to give it food. It won't let me pet it or even get near it but I do find it sleeping (or catching 40 winks) now after it eats about half of its food, then goes back to finish the rest. lol That little black feller is very talkative and friendly! He definitely belonged to someone who did not deserve him.
