The reason they don't have subtitles is the same reason that back in the 90s & early 2000s, our MVs didn't have them. Japan is the way that the US was then. Highly segregated in terms of the music industry. Not only in terms of not having subtitles, but also in the fact that the music needs to be distributed by and handled by a label in their country and have the creation process benifit their economy. (After all, if you are going to be taking money out, you gotta also be bringing some in.... This and the exportation prices to buy it outside of Japan is why they are ao expensive.) As well as being the whole reason that Idols are expected to learn Japanese and sing their songs in Japanese. (something highly reminiscent of the chats whenever an Idol goes live, it's all just, "SPEAK ENGLISH!" Whether or NOT THEY CAN actually speak it...) Yeah, it's all very much in line with the reality we already lived and, because of K-pop, are apparently living again. lol You know, we all remember the good ole' "In this here country, we speak English! Why should we cater to foreigners? Why are they even listening to our music if they don't know our language!?..." blah blah 🙄 I use these as examples because they not only help relate something we understand to the exact reasons that Japan isn't a fan of their MVs having subtitles. I find that it also helps humanize the behavior as well. Despite the fact that it is still not the thing to do, and of course, my example makes sure to still paint it in a less than stellar light, which it should... because segregation, even if it's just of the music industry, is never the answer, and a suffocation of creativity and shared culture will follow. As well as, of course, it helps it make more sense of why Stray Kids, in particular, choose to abide by these preferences. As it's not a rule, of course. (Well, the language and subtitles stuff that is, the importation, distribution, and the insane prices of Japanese albums us just a reality. lol). Many companies choose to put what they want to do before any of the optional factors However, JYPE doesn't just see the 'bottom dollar' or 'the best option for us' routes as the only possible options. They are far from perfect, but they also have a thing for making their way through the industry without burning bridges or making waves by taking selfish (or any other number of shit companies do go make their lives easier, make more money, and speciallycto come out on top) people can say whatever they want anout JYPE, as they really don't seem to care what you say about them, just their idols. lol And I'm far from a company stan. However I have also done a ton of research into them at one point, and honestly, they really care about their idols, doing everything with a code of ethics and morals in place, and taking accountability. They mess up, and yes, they are at the end of the day a company... But they are a company that admit their shortcomings. They acticly learn from those mistakes and better themselves, and they play by the rules. Yes, it causes the company to struggle at times... kinda like right now, when they have the whole industry doubting their groups' worth. (After all, the K-pop community believes that "because SkZ had quantity and I don't like their music, that means they have no quality. New Jeans are just that! New and not 90s indie alternative wrapped in Y2K. lol Also, NOTHING against those adorable angels. This is about the GP of K-POP fans, that's all.) Point is, they are well known for never letting the public demand them to do anything or punish them into becoming like everyone else. Yeah, because of that, their accomplishments are always being challenged. After all, there's no way a selfmade group that I may not like the music of is capable of being such a massive success. 🙄 lol, I believe the label simply realized that if you are playing by the rules, EVEYONES RULES, well, that matters anyway... (such as Japan) as well as actually having something new and different in order to actually move music forward instead of set it back. the fact is, at one point in time, every great era of music and the generation birthed were demonized. Literally. Jazz, Rock and Roll, Rap.... Each one of them was called the "the devils music", and "racket", "noise", or "garbage music", a "total flop", and "an atrocity for music"... But my favorite "The Day the Music Died", which IS SO DRAMATIC. Still, it's such a fantastic song, too. lol anyways, my point is that this goes for the music their groups make, the lack of communication the company has with fans regarding all the stuff other companies allow fans to dictate, such as idols punishments. And, of course, even going against the flow when it comes to something such as... .Keeping Japan loving you and your label because you would like yo be super famous there and that is hard without the governments support. lol

This was the first time I watched Social Path MV. Everyone is so intense - Felix's stare! - then up pops playful Hyunjin. lol. The visuals and sound on this are so amazing I was startled it wasn't a full Japanese version for an anime.
