My theory is: Lee Know feels a bit vulnerable and exposed emotionally interacting with Seungmin, cause he feels that Seungmin sees everything, he's very observant and he reads people quite easily, similar to Changbin. The difference is -- Seungmin leaves the observations to himself, whereas Changbin seems to address his own observations directly and clearly.
Interesting. I agree -- I think Lee Know may feel a bit exposed around Seungmin for the same reasons you mentioned. I think you may be right. LK knows what he's going to get with Changbin -- he's transparent -- so there's a comfort in knowing everything is out on the table. The sense of uncertainty with Seungmin may put LK on edge a bit.
Everyone remembers that Seungmin was Leeknows first friend but no one seems to remember that Seungmin called Leeknow his most favorite hyung. So a lot of the coldness is a concept. Leeknow himself has said it’s a concept in one of his lives. Of course as idols I don’t expect them to show everything to fans but I for one am over the divorced concept.
Yes, me too. I mean it can be quite funny when they bicker with each other, but sometimes i miss the softer moments between the two of them. It's sad when Hyunjin said they were normal before but their dynamic changed after getting the divorced couple nickname. I just hope this change was natural and not because they felt the need to act on their concept for us or because they were too much affected by comments about them being a divorced couple.
Solid points because Lee know is also a member Seungmin got close to faster than he did with any of the other members which he said is not something common for him which immediately tells me that Lee know is different. There's also the fact that Seungmin said he feels comfortable with Lee know to the point that he can tease him but they both know it's just part of their dynamic because they're not trying to be anything other than themselves with one another. Most people miss this because they base whether or not the members are close to each other only on soft moments which to be honest you can find tons of between these two it's just that they are more subtle.

They used to be roomates (with Hyunjin) and even now, they share a bathroom which tells me that they are close but in a very unique way. Their dynamic truly is unique in the group. I think it's because both of them are emotionally and mentally strong but also a bit closed off, compared to the others. However, there is an undercurrent of understanding and comfortable feeling between them because they don't expect anything else from each other.
Lee Know and Seungmin has that certain closeness that they can have a peaceful silence with each other as well as bickering at times. Lee Know is different to each of them and Seungmin understands this dynamics and contributes as well. Lee Know may not look like he cares but he listens and cares about all these. And I think you can be blunt and carefree in a dynamic when you are very close so that speaks a lot. And they are very similar yet different so that also puts a different angle here. And also I would like to mention Seungmin was Lee Know's first friend in JYP. And when Lee Know was eliminated from the survival show Seungmin cried the most and if you watch the pre divorced couple concept you'll see the soft sides of their relationship more. Seungmin really loves Lee Know a lot and described him as " My most favourite hyung who I like the most in the world". I just love my 2min so much.
They both have very distinct relationships within the group. They always stay true to themselves, but also know how to adapt to the others. They aren't called the emotional pillars of the group for nothing.
I missed your reactions to stray kids, they're always some of my favorites! If you want to see another side to Seungmin, I definitely recommend watching his episode with I.N. He's a lot more silly and affectionate with him, probably because they're the youngest in the group.
I think I've said it before on one of your videos with Lee Know in it, but its always felt to me that Lee Know has a hard time accepting compliments because for him he's just doing what needs to be done. Seungmin compliments him on the reliable way he teaches them choreography, but to Lee Know, as the performance leader of the group, as just a member of the dance unit, and as one of the eldest, its just what he's supposed to do, so the compliments feel unnecessary. But if you listen to the other members talk about Lee Know as a teacher, it's more than just him being good-he makes them feel safe. He interrupts his own breaks and meal times to answer their questions, or help them figure out a particularly tricky dance move. He goes above and beyond what a normal teacher would, because he wants them to succeed and feel confident. Lee Know is so awful at giving compliments, too, but if you watch him react to Seungmin perform in real time (such as in their Kingdom performances, or some of their concert footage) you can really tell he really loves watching Seungmin perform. Meanwhile Seungmin is so quick to give out compliments. Its such an interesting balance.
In Two kids room, Seungmin said Lee Know takes care of him a lot at dorm and when the only two of them together. Lee Know always looks for Seungmin when he can’t see seungmin ( but sadly translation from official skz channel is wrong 🙃😂) They are one of the most popular skz pairs in Korea. I think intel fans can’t really understand their relationship because of language barrier.
As a fan of them, I really hope they forget the divorce concept soon. There are candid moments between them that remind me of how they were before. And sometimes they let their guards down and reveal their feelings (Seungmin writing about Minho and his support after one of their radio episodes, Minho talking about being impressed by Seungmin's hard work in one of the album intros). However, other times it feels like they think they need to act a certain way for Stay.
It started with the first skz family video during Yellow Wood era. They weren't like that before. The boys say so themselves in this 2 kids room episode. They started acting more like it after fans really took a liking to that dynamic.
the “divorced concept” came to be BECAUSE of their dynamic in the first place (albeit an exaggeration). aside from the banter and the teasing that’s just really how they are with eachother . i do think the fans are the reason the joke is still going (they get asked that damned divorce question every single day on community), but lee know himself has admitted on multiple occasions that it’s really just for the concept. they’re likely still the way they were “before”, they just don’t show it on camera that often anymore and that’s perfectly fine :)
@ray we as fans have to stop pretending like our own actions have no impact on them - real people with real relationships, insecurities, emotions etc We will make wild assumptions about them, jokes, keep asking them certain questions and interpreting their answers in specific ways, rank them, debate every word and gesture... but it's up to them, they decide what they want to do. We aren't responsible for anything. It's all just for fun. How is that realistic?
I love 2MIN, and to anyone who takes the time to really get to know them, you'd see that they're both actually very private people and often just acts out in front of cameras, but yeah their friendship is one of my favorites!
Seungmin came from an old money family that has ties in politics and commerce. His parents are well educated and successful. It was hard for him to break out of family tradition to be a lawmaker. Stray Kids’ success and his vocal being recognized mean a lot to validate his decision. Lee Know came from a lower middle class background. He’s been a maverick and independent thinker since early age (no parents’ pampering and protection needed). He chose what is not traditional getting into top college and then Samsung path (dancing and martial arts). Although he aspired to be an idol, he’s also pragmatic enough to map out plan B (getting a bodyguard license after high school). Being chosen the last Stray Kids and being well known 5 years is simply fantastic. Seungmin and Lee Know are both very smart and self assured despite the age and background differences.
Thank you for those information about their backgrounds. Some things I didn’t know and I didn’t know anything about seungmins family. It’s an interesting fact too that their start was so different.
I’ve missed the 2 kids room reactions. There is a small family skit they do and seungmin and lee know are a married couple who can’t divorce bc Lee know has all the money. Seungmin is the chill uncle with lee know as his scary wife. They are both pretty chill and I feel like their relationship is also that way 🥰
Leeknow and Seungmin's interaction is my favorite of SKZ. They just don't like to show it on camera but in some clips of their behind the scenes, or SKZ codes, personal interviews, or even at the concert you can see they are actually very close. Leeknow also gave his compliment towards Seungmin on the introduction video of their last album about how hard seungmin practice to improve his singing. I think they just want to have their moments by themselves. They want us to think that they are really "divorced". Especially Leeknow I guess he really hold himself not to give any reaction to seungmin publicly but if you learn about their early debut days you will find out about how close they were actually.
So glad you reacted to this one. Vouching for Bang Chan and Felix or Hyunjin next. They switch between languages faster than I can think. You also haven’t seen much of Jeongin and him and Seungmin are a standout set of friends. Best friends and basically personality twins since they joined really. They spend a ton of time together. The maknaez get slept on especially I.N. He is very private and reserved but it would still be nice to see more of an analysis on him. He brings out another side of Seungmin. Same with Hyunjin and I.N.
i love their dynamic, the fact that seungmin is the first friend lee know's made when he joined in the company and they hang out together at the time they were the "marriage couple" but right now they are the "divorced couple" and they act like "omg we're so different!!!" but they have so many similarities and it's so much fun
The fact that Seungmin doesn’t seem to like opening up but does it a bit anyway to make Lee Know feel more comfortable is definitely a sign of love and care👍

I think the same, especially Lee know. Seungmin with his habit to speak things out quite fast and directly could say something that Lee know doesn’t like to show in front of the camera. I think off the camera they act surely different sometimes.
I love watching Lee Know and Seungmin's relationship, and your analysis makes perfect sense for me. We see they tending to avoid making eye contact and averting their gaze on a daily basis. I guess it's because, as you said, they unconsciously avoid some kind of conflict or being stepped into their(especially Lee Know's) personal space too much by accident. And it might also shows that Lee Know need to do it because he consider Seungmin as so close person to him and Seungmin can easily reach Lee Know's personal zone. I think Seungmin's words mean a lot to Minho for the same reason Minho's words mean a lot to Seungmin. They know it's real. Also, I think they give each other permission to let go of some of that negative tsundere energy because they know the other one won't get hurt. Like Max said, there is realness there. That's why I like the two of them so much. It's ridiculous to pretend like every day of the relationship between them is sunshine and play off any conflict as a funny story for the fans. Like with siblings, you get on each other's nerves, but that doesn't mean you don't love each other.

I definitely agree with your analysis of Lee Know not liking the idea of being "invaded" like that. I feel that way too with a friend or relative that knows my bad habits and insecurities. i love 2Min (Seungmin & Minho) so much. They’re both the menaces of the group 😂 that’s probably why they can be quite brutal with each other when it comes to teasing or being competitive but they care and love each other just as much ❤
I said this under a comment but Seungmin was actually Lee Knows first friend at the company when he joined so they have been friends pretty much since the day Lee Know joined as a trainee. Edit: divorced couple thing is from skz family (Han with Hyunjin (dad and mom), Felix with IN (grandpa and grandma), Seungmin and Lee Know (uncle and aunt), changbin and Chan are the children of Han and Hyunjin (oldest changbin, youngest Chan). There are 2 videos but I prefer the second one because In my opinion it’s more funny and the first one includes the ex member. It’s and on running joke that Seungmin and Lee know were supposed to divorce between videos but couldn’t because of financial reasons but at the end of the second video han and Hyunjin split (because of an unscripted moment) and Lee know and Seungmin split and the switch partners so Han is with Lee Know and Seungmin is with Hyunjin. He's pretty active with lives he shows his friends, his house a little bit of his parents (blurred of course but still) I don't think we saw any friends of other members. So I would say Lee Know just gives that vibe of being closed when I don't think he actually is. My opinion is that he just super chill he doesn't think of sharing something as something that is important...Idk he's weird))
He doesn't talk about his serious thoughts and feelings much. In that regard he is private. The most open we see him is during concerts, in my opinion. Some of his ments this tour were revealing. But in general, we don't know what he's thinking.

Lee Know and Seungmin can seem to be more distant than the others on-screen a lot of the time, but they have a history of being close friends. When Lee Know was eliminated from the survival show and was giving his last message to the members, Seungmin cried the most. I think when you get close enough to a person, esp when neither of you are especially extroverted, you tend not to worry so much about the flow of the conversation. Short, succinct answers can be as much a sign of a pair who understand each other well enough that more words aren’t needed as they can be a sign of distance, i think.
I wanna add that Lee Know is partly testing Seungmin on his cats because in a previous 2 Kids Room, Lee Know told Seungmin "wow can you believe Felix thought I only had 2 cats" to which Seungmin was like "I thought you only had 1" at which Lee Know acted offended (but he might actually have been). Seungmin was like "wow maybe I should care more" as a joke. It's super sweet of him to now even be able to recognize all of Lee Know's cats (who he's really attached to so he probably appreciates this). I think Seungmin is showing love/care by learning this which is really sweet. In my own personal opinion, I don't think Lee Know is as much insecure or unsure of what Seungmin will say etc. as... I think Lee Know genuinely recognizes and respects him. Seungmin is the second youngest of the group yet very strong-minded and articulate and reserved but also daring (like Lee Know). It's fun to see different people tease or act up around Lee Know. When Hyunjin does it, Lee Know targets him back and "disciplines" him. When Seungmin does it, Lee Know doesn't do that. I think he likes to see Seungmin come out of his shell but he doesn't like to be the one to push him. He wants Seungmin to be able to do it on his own terms like he would have wanted. Seungmin, while being strong in his own way, has shown to be sensitive as well (crying after concerts or at award shows, hiding his smile because "fans" made fun of it, etc.), so that may be another reason why Lee Know is hesitant to push back against Seungmin and lets him freely joke around even if it makes him uncomfortable at times. I think Seungmin probably reminds Lee Know of a younger him so he almost treats him like he would have wanted. To Seungmin, it seems like Lee Know is the closest thing to an actual role model. There are times when that distinction is evident and times when they seem to be equals, and it's really endearing to see. Plus though Lee Know is a private person, he's regarded as the most social person in the group (talking to random people, always eating with others). He's good at small talk, but here, he's either uncomfortable by the compliments or consciously letting Seungmin take the reins. And while Seungmin is a private person, he is good at and wants to get better at articulating thoughts, public speaking etc, so it's actually pretty nice to see him lead the conversation here. Sorry, I just love them both so much. You should watch Lee Know's 2 Kids Room with I.N as well. That one always gets me emotional.
I don't remember which video it was (hell...it may in this 2min 2kr episode), but someone said their relationship works because they have a mutual understanding and trust in their relationship. They said that this dynamic wouldn't work for each pairing. As an example, I think they used felix and minho.. Minho isn't as direct and short with felix because he has a different understanding of his a Felix's relationship.
Felix himself is aware that he wouldn't be able to handle Lee Know if he were in Seungmin's place. He commented something like that in their episode. Felix would cry and Lee Know knows it, so he acts a bit differently
They did another kids room where Seungmin didn't remember how many cats he had or their names so I found it really funny to see Lee Know sort of testing him on how his knowledge on his beloved pets expanded from the last one 😂

These 2 are one of the most chill people in their group, like they are more carefree, so they don’t usually tackle serious topic in a normal day haha they are the cats and dog type of relationship in the group but that is just a concept, these two are really close. That being said, Lee know can joke around seungmin more because as he said, he knows that seungmin can take his savage jokes, that’s how close they are.

I love the analysis once again. Great pointers about how Seungmin can indirectly trigger some LK's insecurities or evoke an emotion whether he meant it positively/negatively/jokingly that LK immediately takes a defensive stance even though he adores Seungmin a lot in his own way. He might feel intimidated by Seungmin's observational insight of each member and knowing their smallest cues (Seungmin is good at it) so he (LK) subconsciously becomes defensive regarding his personal emotions being invaded. I noticed in their recent group live that Seungmin made a jokonly jab towards LK but LK felt it off and took it a notch with the counter jab that Seungmin was surprised. Cause SM triggered sth once again. But LK being careful he felt guilty that he might have hurt SM and SM felt curious/hurt with a little guilt thinking "oh did I offend him too?" by staring at LK a lot. Whilst LK taking worried glances too but defensively said "What?" to SM while others were talking. It was interesting to see that dynamic between them and I believe after the live they talked it out.
When you said Lee Know seems to be trying to test Seungmin and putting up a wall while giving one word answers because he's kind of protecting himself, you're partly right but you're also missing the point of Lee Know's attitude here. He was testing Seungmin because he still holds some resentment about the fact that Seungmin forgot about Lee Know's cats in the old 2kids room. Him and Felix didn't know how many cats Lee Know had or their names and being that those cats are his babies, knowing and appreciating his cats is also the best way to appreciate Lee Know. In fact, when Felix said that he didn't know how many cats he had or how they looked Lee Know's answer was something like "you're not interested in me at all, huh?!". He took major offence about the fact that none of them knew his babies, so he was literally testing Seungmin like a teacher would. But he's more open and kind with the kids than he lets the cameras see. And he treats each of them differently because he easily addapts to each of their personalities, for example he doesn't tease Felix because he's more sensitive, but he teases Changbin and Chan a lot, he's more playful and mischivious with Chan because he knows Chan finds it cute and they also have a lot of serious conversations, he's both chill and playful with Han depending on what's needed to balance Han's mood, he doesn't tease IN a lot, and he actually takes care of him but doesn't act like it because IN doesn't like to be treated like a baby... With Seungmin is just the opposite, Seungmin is pretty savage and even though with other members he's more quiet and even more respectful of boundaries, he feels so comfortable around Lee Know and Chan that he takes advantage of being the second youngest a lot, he knows he's not going to get in trouble because they have a soft spot for him so he teases the two of them the most XD

i feel like these 2 show the realest portrayal of being siblings. like you hate everything they do and just cant stand their presence. but at the same time you’re also confident that whatever happens, they will always be by your side to protect you and care for you, because at the end of the day, they’re family. it just seems difficult but it’s very basic
I don't know if someone answered this but to your question at 5:12 about them being married. It's a role they play in stray kids chuseok specials / family videos. All the members were given roles that made them related in some way i.e marriage or parents or siblings. For Lee Know and Seungmin they are together as newly weds. But in true stray kids fashion, things got chaotic because Han (who is married to Hyujin) accidentally called Lee Know Baby which set off cheating rumors. And this chaos continues into this year's chuseok specail were they admit they're working on a divorce. They're really funny, so I recommend watching it!
When I got into Stray Kids I use to think that Lee Know is a cold guy, but as time went by I realized he's actually a funny, sweet and caring guy. He's one of my biases. Hyunjin is the other bias.
Lee Know and Seungmin are neighbors in the dorm block and "divorced couple" in the series "SKZ Family". Their task is to make living in a hostel comfortable, they try to annoy each other less. Other neighbors in this dorm are Felix and I.N.. They try to make living together comfortable, helping and improving the lives of both. Seungmin and I.N are best friends, Lee Know and Felix are the most different people, but Lee Know for Felix is Big Bro. You have already seen their dynamics.

Simply put they lack bonding that creates/strengthens trust(also because of their personalities it might be harder for them to create/enter situations to form such bonds), itll take a leap of faith for one, and im sure the other would follow right away...but this is a year ago, they look pretty close nowadays
both of them really do love giving each other a hard time simply for humor purposes, since it’s their way of showing affection. the divorced couple talk is the nickname they got! “divorced married couple” and their talk about marrying each other again, for their 3rd anniversary their played a big family where leeknow was the scary aunt and seungmin was the uncle who couldn’t divorce her because she had all the property. at the end auntie leeknow cheated on him with han, who was married to hyunjin. hyunjin then cheated on han with seungmin. it’s a messy storyline and the script wasn’t supposed to go this way but our leeknow will always turn to han at the end I guess!
Please do Felix and Lee know or Felix and Han next, those two are my favourite 2 kids room videos, Lee know and Felix's friendship is really interesting in my opinion. wait you already did lee know and Felix.... do Felix and Han

I missed your 2kr reactions! Lee know and seungmin are so interesting and it's kinda crazy to see how much their relationship has changed even since this episode of 2kr. They used to (and still kinda do) have this concept of being the divorced couple because of a skit where they were married, and it kinda carried over to their daily lifes where they would act short towards eachother in front of the camera like mortal enemies. But now they've opened up so much more and they're so much more affectionate with eachother. they were eachother's first friend in the company and they have this 'comfortable silence' dynamic with a lot of teasing its super cute. Someone asked Lee Know once why he calls seungmin by his full name while he calls the others cutely/nicknames and he kinda hinted that it was awkard for him to call for seungmin so lovingly, yet he's done it a lot on camera. Lee Know and Seungmin have my favorite interactions with each other. The two seem like they, overall, have genuine friendship and care for one another (though they might have an odd way of showing it to each other).
