My friend, I have been trying to find this and haven't. Finally this morning as I came upstairs to record you were on my recommended and boom works perfectly. I lose my camera settings as I use a laptop to record and so camera and everything stays upstairs. Once I plug in it was my routine to reset the camera manually. This works freaking amazingly. Being able to directly activate and deactivate a webcam depends on whether webcam supports that function. I generally use webcams with OBS Studio where I can activate and deactivate the webcam as a video capture source using a hotkey configured in OBS. This will apply to some other applications as well. Just found your channel! Thank you so much! I know you made this tutorial quite some time ago but hoping you can help. I am new to stream deck and I am having trouble getting the camera Zoom in/out to work? I have a C920 webcam with G Hub. When setting up the zoom, do I connect to the camera or G hub? I tried the camera as you show in the video and the different settings but still not working . On some of the settings, I get a yellow caution image on the stream deck when the button is pushed. Is it possible you have a video that shows a bit more on this subject with this particular camera?
When I point to the "manual set" option, the menu does not appear like you do. "property not supported on webcam" appears below. I understand that my camera definitely doesn't support it. Is there a way to know which webcams support these functions? Mine is also a USB, an Aukey 1080. Could you tell me if connecting from Nvidia Broadcast would be possible?
Good video but that Facecam controll app didn't work at all, I clicked on install maybe 4 times and it said downloaded but when I got back to the control center of my streamdeck it didn't show up, I went back to plugins and searched for cam, then it said install again. I installed the elgato webcam mode instead.
Thanks! BarRaider made both the Cam Control and Facecam plugins. The Facecam plugin integrates with Elgato's Camera Hub app and offers all adjustments available through the hub whereas Cam Control uses windows UVC for control. Both plugins work with the Facecam, however I would use the native plugin. I haven't tested it, but I would suspect Camera Hub settings are better optimized for the Facecam vs UVC (as with other native webcam apps such as Synapse, etc.) Hope this helps out!
Unfortunately Mac OS prevents one application from controlling another for "security" reasons (with very few exceptions). In this case, it would be Cam Control and Facecam controlling the webcam driver. A lot of us are hoping Apple opens this up as there are many applications that would benefit. This is also why even some webcam manufacturer own software (Elgato, Razer, etc) have limited functions in their own webcam apps on Mac. Hope things change...
Is there any way to do multiple actions with 1 button press? It would be nice to zoom and pan in with 1 button, and then zoom and pan out with a 2nd button.
Great question, and yes there is! Create a multi-action button on the Stream Deck and then add the actions. You may need to include a small delay between actions if your webcam doesn't respond to 2nd, 3rd, 4th... etc. actions (sometimes the commands are sent too quickly to be recognized by the camera). The plugin does not come up when I search. I tried his name, the plugin name, and nothing shows. I have the smaller Stream Deck, not the XL. Is that the issue?
If you are on a Mac it will not be available. Unfortunately Mac OS does not allow one application to control another (with a few exceptions - mostly Apple software) for "security" reasons. While I understand this, many of us are hoping Apple will find another way to allow this kind of implementation as there are many features like this that are currently unavailable.
I use the "Source Visibility" function in a Stream Deck Plugin called "OBS Tools" by BarRaider. It gives you a toggle to turn any video source on and off. It requires a two step process to install. I go through the installation in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ilH3gyRGg6E.html Once you complete the installation, you will see the OBS Tools menu along the righthand side in the Stream Deck control panel. You would then drag "Source Visibility" to a button and select the scene and source from OBS you want to control. You can leave the file options blank. Hope this helps out!
Some webcams / laptops have a specific hotkey to enable / disable the webcam. For those that do not, I would install Microsoft PowerToys which will the slow you to configure specific hotkeys for any webcam. Hope this helps out!
This should show all UVC compatible cameras. There can be an exception with some where there are more than one of the same camera connected where only one will show up. This is due to the way the driver is handled in Windows, in particular with cameras that do no have their own driver but rather use the generic Windows driver.
