From an outside perspective, the MET gala just seems like out of touch rich people in outrageous Hunger Games-like costumes living in excess (with some charity hand waving to justify it) while the poor workers and staff performing hygiene theatre with masks on in the background. I’m probably wrong but it’s honestly the perception I have from looking at any pics of the event.
@@alexisaguirrevideos It also is basically the only reason the MET can run. For people unaware, the MET is a beautiful art museum that hundreds of thousands of people visit, including a lot of students, and admission is free because of events like this.
As a Dodge fan, I have a few points. Dodge has teased a future of EVs back in 2021, but they aren't calling it that...they have dubbed it "eMuscle" but they haven't talked about exactly what that means yet. Also the Stellantis, the parent company has EV plans too. Oh, and Chrysler has had the Pacifica Hybrid Plug-In, which was the first minivan with an electric powertrain.
Sad part about this Twitch thing is that it is not to enhance viewer experience or make the platform better for creators but as allegedly reported by the leak, the changes are being made solely to make Twitch's profit bigger. Reducing the split when it is not even clear how one can get 70/30 split, ad revenue that is almost irrelevant compared to other platforms. In over an year of streaming (granted not regularly) I saw only $0.92 coming from ads and you can see many streamers, even partners complaining about the low revenue from ads. Twitch did started an Ad Incentive Program where you receive a fixed payout for running ads ($100 for 2min of ads per hour in a 40hrs of monthly stream/$300 for 3min/$500 for 4min) but it never reached the smaller creators that would benefit from such program. Non-exclusivity is long overdue but not enough to compensate the split cut. Twitch is good as a streaming platform but badly managed and with RU-vid stepping up the game, I can see a lot of Twitch streamers changing to RU-vid in the following months/years after this change is put into practice.
Going from 70% to 50% revenue split is more like 30% reduction in total income for the creator and not 20%. Anyway, interesting to see how this will work out.
One thing you don't seem to get about streaming is that if for example you made this podcast live in a stream with people asking questions you could probably make it last for 3 hours without even noticing the pass of time. Streaming is for some types of content, not really for reviews but works great for news and chatting with your audience.
One benefit of longer range that I don’t think you addressed is battery longevity. The better your range the fewer cycles on the battery the longer you go without having to pay out the ass for a new battery or vehicle.

Re. Twitch ads. I don't use Twitch, but every now and again I wonder why I'm paying for RU-vid Premium. Then I accidentally open a video on a different Google account and realise how annoying ads are. It's been so long I forget there are ads on RU-vid, it seems like such a horrid experience. I get pissed off with the in-video ads. Can't imagine how frustrating it is for the free account users.

I think there’s some key context about the Twitch news that I think was missing from the discussion. Most Twitch partners don’t have the 70-30 revenue split. That is seemingly reserved for the upper echelon of streamers And it’s rumored that eliminating exclusivity is a chip that Twitch could use while negotiating partner contracts. Which combines to suggest that Twitch may offer to release the biggest streamers from their exclusivity in return for lowering their revenue split
You forgot the $7500 tax credit for the Solterra. Marques won the bet considering that. And the smart EV road tripper charges more often at faster speeds in the sweet spot of the charging curve. So, you drive 90 minutes to 2 hours and then charge for 25 minutes while you pee and/or eat. It gets you to your destination faster, since it stays out of most of the tapered area of the charging curve.
Do y’all think Tesla, who announced an EV truck 3 years ago will be one of the slowest at releasing and delivering an EV truck compared to all these companies now making EV trucks, maybe even Ram?

I love the Kia and Hyundai EVs but when you’re not on the coasts the charging infrastructure only works with Teslas. I can get around Wisconsin in all the major cities and grab a supercharger. Sadly regular EV charging exists only in our 2 biggest cities
I run adblocker on Twitch and barely see any. I buy merch and like posts etc. for creators I want to support. Always hated ads since they take control away from streamers on how to run them and WHAT the ads have in them. It's absurd how little control Twitch or YT lets people have on their own brand.
Idk how the demographics looks like but please take this in consideration when you are talking about EVs or ICE. Look at gas prices all around of the world, and compare with electricity. In Sweden we have 3x higher gas price and 10x higher taxes for ICE cars, and we have "cheaper" electricity bills. I understand that you are based in US and most of the people watching are aswell, but would be nice to hear the same conversation but on a global scale.
I hate ad's, but can tolerate them when placed at points that the what I'm watching has made a place for a ad to fit. Like TV shows know X minutes of ads will be run at these times and show has a pause point. Trouble is with RU-vid and online in general they just stop at any point and run ads, which makes me less inclined to buy things that ad is offering because I'm ticked. I'm more willing to tolerate ads at the beginning of a video than once it's started.
80 extra miles of range is huge for me. I don't have a long commute at all, only 16mi to and from work a day. That would be about an extra week of commuting on a charge.
Mazda has a brand new EV CUV. It has 110 mile range. In 2022/2023. That said, there's an arguement that it's exactly what Mazda should have done. The lightweight vehicle is more efficient and sportier than if it had a battery 2-3x the size, and people who want a small car are more likely to live closer to all sorts of charging options. Thoughts?
You pay for the prime sub, it's not free. I have a prime video subscription which i never use, i just use the prime sub which is technically paid. The mid-roll ad dosen't rly interrupting the stream, there is a small muted pop up window where it keeps playing.
Before we fix our charging network we need to fix/update our electric grid in this country. We need to work in power storage into the grid on a massive level. Supplying power to the demand without storage (or some type of buffer) is an old and very outdated system.
Exterior desing of the Soltera and BusyForks is ok. But I really hate how the insturment cluster works. Also at that price materials seem too cheap (just like in the ID.3...) 10/10 I'd take an Ioniq5 or EV6 over Soltera and BusyForks
Twitch removed the revenue split changes a while back for everyone. Can't haggle no more. More of a don't call us, we'll call you thing and even that is rare.
I think they gotta do something like RU-vid Premium. I love the service, no ads on any video and it compensates the creator for any ad that would have played (not sure of $ or %)
Twitch has a service called Twitch Turbo, it is basically the same thing as RU-vid Premium ad wise. I haven't researched it that much, but I know that it does exist.
I don’t think it is that bad if the twitch creators could activate the adds. Like they just start the add and go for a pee or a drink refill once an hour

There is no Subaru anymore. Subaru is now Toyota. Sad to see. Also, I have an Ioniq 5 with a supposed 300 mile range. It does 220 miles of normal driving. 250 if you drive really slow. It's still a great car despite this, and it charges fast. Importantly it's 800v like a Porsche rather than the normal 400v, which makes the fast charging possible.
Why doesn't tesla give charging station access to other EV's yet? I remember them saying that Tesla's main goal was to increase more EV's in the market and become more sustainable. Looks like that's just marketing BS. It would already be opened if they really cared about the planet and the market.
As a big Subaru fan I’m used to being let down for years now. They’re becoming stuck in the past and their performance isn’t anywhere close to keeping up and they are obsessed with ugly cladding on all their new vehicles it’s so bad and ugly. As for the Solterra it looks better zoomed out, in Doug Demuro’s video up close its ugly and cheap looking. Looking at specs and price this won’t sell well and knowing Subaru they’ll give up on EV for years until governments force it and by then they’ll be obsolete and fold.

My dad put almost 350k miles on his 2006 5.7 1500, I think it was a unicorn. I absolutely dislike Ford due to aluminum body. I camp, hunt, and off-road often. I used to install cabinets and my coworker tossed his tool box in the back of his 2017 F-150 and it put a big gash/hole in his bed. Then, my uncle bought a 2021 F250 for towing his trailer around(also a hunter, retired Vietnam vet.) and his bedside and bottom door panels look like some peppered the truck with a BB gun from him driving on dirt roads all the time. Me… 2013 Ram 1500, camp almost every weekend, I’ve loaded thousands of pounds of wood at this point, towed many boats/trailers, loaded up with cabinets/countertops, dirt bikes, etc. I’ve yet to do any damage to my bed, I’ve put thousands of miles on dirt roads, as well as legit off-road/rock crawl and my passenger side of the bed has only 3 scratches from my brother backing up and scraping a fence to my grandpas property. Other than that, no damage to anything 🤷🏼♂️ Rams do have trash can transmissions tho, not sure if they’ve ever fixed that. My 2013 Ram has 130k miles so far and my trans is fine, so was my dads, but I’ve heard horror stories of others Ram trans. Moral of the story, if you’re gonna do truck things with a truck, get a steel body or at least steel bed truck.

I have theory regarding the twitch situation. Either twitch is struggling or they are trying to make more money so that they can offer better contracts to those big streamers so many of which are now moving from twitch to youtube.
The only thing Twitch is struggling with is making money and getting approval to exist from Amazon. They want and need more ads, which is definitely coming. Won't ask for permission either since the whole "bleed purple" is dead, all the Twitch original employees have left and there's no more people who understand communities etc. It's just a platform for making money for Amazon, nothing more. The community part is outside Twitch now. And creators definitely have to and SHOULD have multiple revenue streams, don't depend on just Twitch. If a few streamers (DrLupo, TimTheTatMan and a few more) leave Twitch for RU-vid (1-2 years ago), that doesn't mean everyone is leaving. RU-vid streaming experience is horrific for both parties.
I definitely think the Amazon Primes are not even in discussion here. Amazon and Twitch partnership I'm pretty sure its beneficial to Twitch, otherwise they wouldn't keep it.... My opinion on this is just because they want more money, its obvious, they are not doing bad, but they want more and more.
The Subaru EV is a Toyota EV, just rebadged and slight cosmetic changes. Toyota is a shareholder in Subaru and this new EV is Toyota's bZ4X EV, that is also going to Lexus and Lexus will make it look good to fit their lineup. Subaru is not going to build an all new EV on their own, they are not that big or have the pockets to do so. It will sell just fine because they will not make many of them like they already do with the rest of their lineup.
