I always liked this transition not only is it him using the wing it is also where the music transitions from one winged angel rebirth into the traditional one winged angel we all know and love.
I don't think how you treated them affects the final fight, iirc. It's different triggers for each one. Using a healing item or spell during the shadow realm fight (or whatever that was called right before Sephiroth) would bring Aerith into it, Dealing specific damage types or amounts within a short span brings in Tifa, and I'm not sure what the one for Barrett is, but I never did it.
@@abaddonarts1129 Actually its whoever kills the most Whispers during the final battle and also whoever lands the final attack on the Whisper Harbinger that determines the final three.
In my first play through, I had Aerith join first, with Tifa intercepting when Phase 3 music kicked in, then Barret was last to join the party. I didn’t think the outcome would be different for each player on who gradually re-joins Cloud during the final battle.

btw the wing confirms this is AC sephy- some steins gate stuff here, there were two novellas called lifestream white and black that explain this, but basically hes from post AC where he had become one with the lifestream and wanted to travel back, meanwhile Aerith is getting fed things to her by the planet.
So this is Sephiroth wanting to play this game again and change the outcome. A game of Cosmic 4-D Chess played by Sephiroth/JENOVA vs. Aerith and Party/Gaiah?
@@TimeCircleBlue This also opens up the very real possibility that Sephiroth actually *wants* you to stop him from killing Aerith at the City of the Ancients, since her presence in the Lifestream during the original game was a pretty big factor in his eventual defeat (his line "Seven seconds until the end. Time enough for you, perhaps?" may be a reference to how it took Sephiroth 7 seconds to drop from the ceiling and kill Aerith in the original game). And if that's the case, it makes me wonder who might die in her place (Tifa, Barret, or even Cloud himself would seem to be the most likely possibilities) ....provided *anyone* dies this time around? Or perhaps a "certain someone" from the ending will show up and either save Aerith outright, or take Sephiroth's attack and die in her place?
@@gamester512 1) "Seven seconds till the end" was officially confirmed to be referencing the seven seconds before Meteor destroys Gaia 2) RIP Zack... If he dies, the fandom's gonna *lose it*
Thank fucking god I got to witness this entire fight on my own without spoilers, being a huge fan of Final Fantasy, especially Final Fantasy 7, this was amazing for me.
I've never played Remake or any of the Final Fantasy games, except Crisis Core Reunion {Switch version}, but I remember that gorgeous black wing. I fondly remember seeing it when Sephiroth flared it out gorgeously in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate during his reveal trailer in certain parts. I also have his amiibo and OMG, seeing that wing on my amiibo makes me smile each and every time, including his nodachi, Masamune. I'm super excited for Rebirth, though! Sephiroth is also my DLC main for Ultimate! His playtime for the game is MASSIVE, almost to 400+ hours and I know that number is going to keep increasing. He has gotten me 4000 battles won! He even has the most highest KO count out of all of the characters in the roster. My playtime and KO count with him is just going to keep getting bigger and bigger! I got him as an early Chirstmas present back in December 2020 after completing the Sephiroth Challenge and I love him so much! He's much better than my old Smash Bros. mains, that's for sure!
Yo I have a question, how did max get aerith late in the fight when the others have tifa being the third to arrive in the fight? Is it the choice mechanics throughout the story?
Certain choices and how you use the characters will determine who your final party members are, there's a sort of point system and the the two characters with the most points will be your party members, I think either Tifa or Aerith will always join your party first regardless of how many points Barret has, so the game chooses whichever of Tifa or Aerith has the most points and then it'll choose whichever of Barret or Tifa/Aerith has the most points.
@@nathanevans1382 Yeah… But actually no. I always wanted to get Tifa’s secret scene and accidentally got Aerith’s so I’m definitely should be getting Aerith in the battle or something, however Tifa came first and then Barret. I did choose let Aerith wait at the elevator the chapter before in Hojo’s place, so I think that’s the only reason.
I have a question. What is the most.... canonical way of the allies appearing? Because to me I think it's Aerith, Tifa, Barrett. Idk if Tifa and Aerith are interchangeable though
Sephiroth will focus on Cloud and Aerith first by the way. When he casts that wall of fire, he attempts to cut off Aerith or Cloud before Tifa or Barrett, even if you're playing as them.
Im so glad I had Aerith on my party instead of Barret, though It would’ve been alot better to have him instead of Tifa (Tank Barret), my Aerith’s Magnify-heal combo plus massive MP build really helps alot, I didn’t even struggle during this fight…
*What the wing is really supposed to mean:* the body Sephiroth is using is starting to succumb to the corruption of the Jenova cells and is destablizing. This doesn't hamper Seph any, but his vessel is practically at death's door. *The fans:* _"OH WOW, HE'S GOING ONE-WINGED ANGEL! SO ICONIC!!"_
Sephiroth isn't succumbing to anything. He simply brings out the wing whenever he pleases and can retract it at will. It's just his way of saying "I'll take you a bit more seriously now"
This is just not true. The wing is a power up, essentially. His Super Saiyan. Genesis and Angeal also had wings and could use them freely. The body he's using isn't dying.
