basically the digital source can only sound good if you didn´t hear first the record and doesn´t have to be a very expensive turntable or cartridge from the 70´s ,i think all noticed the diferencies just by looking at it ,talking about the stylus and a good DAC will improve the cd sound but never close to a turntable with an average quality

Of course it depends of the quality of the equipment and ones ears. And a good turtable with a phono amp is not cheap. A few thousand of bucks will be necessairy to outperform digital sound. Don't forget a good dish wasser. Vinyl adds a bit of HV. That also gives a warmer more natural sound.

This is exactly what I hear in the room. Vinyl is more holographic. But on low volume I think I prefer the digital because of the low noise floor. Analog charm blossoms with higher volume.

With all due respect gentlemen... We're listening to a recording made on ??? device, being compressed to high hell by RU-vid, and broadcast over, what, a 128 kbps, maybe 160kbps tops? And you're making judgements based on that? If you want a serious comparison, mount a calibrated microphone at a measured sweet spot (move the album cover out of the way, as it changes the sound with reflections). Run a pink noise test into a decent DB meter, first with vinyl (yup', pink noise albums exist, for stuff kinda' like this) and then a pink noise test-disc with the CD deck. You need to know how to level-match the volume between the two mediums. That is really important. If you cannot do it here, you can use a free program like Audacity to do it later. Next, play 30 seconds of the vinyl LP, and record it with your calibrated microphone, into Audacity on a decent laptop, such as a modern Mac. Now do the same thing over with a CD of the same track. Now, save those files as lossless .FLAC or .WAV digital file and upload both files to some free hosting source, such as Google Drive, OneDrive etc. and provide listeners with the links. When we can quickly swap between level-matched lossless format files... that's where we will be able to formulate informed opinions... A.

Thanks for your reply. As you mentioned, this video is not scientific, specifically recorded on a cell phone. This is why I share some basic impressions from my point of view of listening live in the room.
@QoraxAudio
@QoraxAudio 6 месяцев назад
Can't properly compare things. You should do a direct recording from the preamp/DAC output. The room has some reverb that's ruled out by doing a direct recording.

Any serious comparison must be made blindly and with equal volume. "The bass rise on vinyl is faster" Lol pure fantasy.
@igaldins
@igaldins 6 месяцев назад
The dynamics on vinyl are more exciting, rise faster and the dynamic range is wider. The decay is more precise with digital. My guess is that if I would use TT in similar price to my digital combo and some MC cartridge it would beat the digital combo easily on most if not all aspects. Still Im not sure I’ll stick to analog for a long time, streaming is like the ocean, vinyl is like a swimming pool, content wise.

with that turntable and that cartridge the sound isn´t very good ,allthough on youtube it´s impossible to compare ,at home i did play my record and put it on Tidal and Spotify and the recorded sounded like the streamer was a low-fi source, new cartridges are very bad only starting in several thousands of € will mirror a 200€ cartridge with a good thorens turntable or the SL-1000MKII from technics bought in 79

Unfortunately, the biggest (and maybe even the only) drawback of this setup is the room itself. It is too small: - the distance between the speakers is not enough (the sense of a scene is missing, and the overall impression of a sound is kinda monophonic); - the speakers are too close to back and side walls and to the floor, hence - very audible early reflections; - man, your speakers are quite awesome, so using these cheap chairs is killing them, try some descent stands :) Nice and interesting setup, bro, but it is an overkill for the room. Trust me, at this moment you haven't heard your system yet. It's like driving a Ferrari in your backyard.
@igaldins
@igaldins 6 месяцев назад
Its a temporary living space. It will change eventually. This stands height is good to the room acoustics. I had 2 other pairs, 60 and 70 cm, and it was less good. In addition the sound is one of the best I heard, anywhere. Speakers sounds better than in the store. I think you over criticized the room issue. There is an issue but its not as significant as you described 😁
@localizer1980
@localizer1980 6 месяцев назад
@@igaldins of course I may be wrong, since I haven't experienced the sound in your room in person :) If you like it, then it's fine.
