This thing works with 16340's. Been using it for quite a while. Works just on high though.

Glad to see you starting to review Streamlights. They're one of my favs. But I don't think they officially recommend any battery over 3.0v in the 1L-1AA [like rechargeable Li-Ion]. So if you want the [close-to] 350 lumens of a cr123 but use a rechargeable, I use the Olight 2.4v from the I5R. Works great. Not quite 350 but appears close. Also, check out the 2L. It is a slightly lengthened 1L-1AA. It takes two cr123's but it also takes a 16650!! It's a real sleeper in their pro-tac lineup!!

Hey man, been looking at this for a while. Seems really nice! According to their manual, you shouldn’t use rechargeable lithiums. Have you had any issues with 16340s or 14500s? Thanks!

I do see it mentions not to use rechargeable CR123 (16340?). I think their "Lithium AA" is a bit confusing. I think they're referring to the 1.5v lithium cells, versus the 3.7-4.2v 14500 lithiums. Likely, it can't go over 3v. It's still a nice light. I use the weapon light version of this with and AA as a bicycle light, haha.

I have used a 16340 rechargeable and it didnt damage it. It may have been not a fully charged one though.
@jonathancaldentey4615
@jonathancaldentey4615 2 месяца назад
I might have to risk it and experiment with this light. Taking full 4.2V lithiums makes this light the most versatile light I’ve seen.

Hi, if using 14500 wil increase the lms but would it damage the light?

It doesnt seem to increase lumens and it will not damage it

Can you use a rechargeable CR123A battery?
@newhuskytwenty
@newhuskytwenty 2 месяца назад
He says yes, I'm not so sure without risking to fry the emitter or circuit board. In any case what you say is called 16340
@flashlightcrazy
@flashlightcrazy 2 месяца назад
@@newhuskytwenty As long as its not a fully charged one yes it is fine. Even if it fully charged it wont fry it but it will behave strangely. More of a backup option which I should have stated more clearly. i am sorry for that

It's rather funny to watch the videos with these hypothetical apocalyptic scenarios where one has to rely on primary batteries. Living through a real SHTF on a daily basis (hello from Ukraine!) I have to tell you that it does not work like that. Long-term it is not sustainable. You need a light with a max battery capacily which you still can comfortably carry (for me that is mostly 18650) with an easy way to charge (USB-C or magnetic; usually USB-C - no proprietary cables to lose) - no matter where you are. Usually you carry a couple of powerbanks, quck-charge them when you have opportunity (grid, when it is available, genarator, solar, car) and then charge your other gear, including lights off of it. Having multiples of items helps. Bay chargers are used only on stationary locations, but they are a nuissance.

A complete chaos means no electrical power supply at all as after a solar storm or nuclear bomb exploted at high altitude with electromagnetic pulse. Greetings from Spain to Ukraine.
@flashlightcrazy
@flashlightcrazy 2 месяца назад
What happens if you lose electricity though? Would it not be useful to have a box or two of non rechargable batteries to use?
@Alexander.Grekhov
@Alexander.Grekhov 2 месяца назад
@@flashlightcrazy the gasoline and diesel are available, as they needed for military vehicles, so generators are an option. Pretty much every other household in the country has one. Also the solar is an option. 20W folding A3-sized panel (folded size) takes care of charging small electronics, like phones, powerbanks, flashlights, etc. As to the primaries - I only use AAA, as the NiMH self-discharge too quickly, even Eneloops. In other sizes I see no use for non-rechargeables, unless I get them for free.

6:20 Best output with 3 volts non rechargeable cr123a? Are you sure? It is impossible, maybe you wanted to say best runtime since any 14500 or 16360 will offer up to 4,2 volts out of the charger, nominal 3,7v.
@flashlightcrazy
@flashlightcrazy 2 месяца назад
Yeah i was confused about that too. But the documents i have read about this light say best output is cr123. Maybe it is the same as a rechargeable 16340 or 14500
