Great review! I have many of these and love them. It's also nice to hear someone else say the strobe effect is useless LOL I've always said that and it's been the downfall of many other lights before I found this one. At least with this light you can program it out. Thanks again for a great review!

CR123A batteries work in extreme temperatures to and have a long shelf life. They are designed for reliability. Rechargeable cells and alkaline cells stop working at a pathetic -4 degrees fahrenheit if they are exposed to the outside air for too long. 18650s are good for everyday tasks in normal temperatures and are more convenient and economical but are inferior for self defense use. They are great general purpose batteries for high drain lights that are used all the time. I consider the 18650 to be the best rechargeable battery size. For defense though, I will stick with CR123A cells, especially with winter coming around. Up north, CR123A cells are the only batteries that always work. It is nice to see duel fuel lights becoming common though. The rattle is kind of a bummer but at least you have options.

I have the exactly light. Mine has a low/ high setting. Maybe because it's newer. But, I only bought it because it had that setting

I got two of those polytac lights cause they are so lightweight. But... I immediately broke one by over tightening the mount. Those batteries are the shit. The regular 18650 batteries dont work though. I've got my light set up for high only.

16650 = Surefire or any other dual 123 battery light. However only at 4.2 volts, grat for led lights. Or 16340 but 3.7 volts each a total of 7.4 volts with dual battery lights, if your light can take the higher voltage.

Hi mate try the nitecore srt 7 one of the best lights I ever used on duty... And for all modern lights I would suggest rechargeable 18650 or 18350 (equivalent to a cr123) batteries and a decent charger you'll save money on the long run! Greetings from France!

The srt 7 has the Mode selection on a ring on the body and is tail switch activated once you learn the settings pretty easy you can choose your mode without going through all modes while blinding yourself on a wall or something...

@@lovescherylblossom3441 i dont have this falshlight so i couldnt test but since the nitecores are button top and some even have a charging port the nitecore batteries could be somewhat long... I recommend sony vtc or Samsung imr cells if you arent sure what will fit!

Hey, I have not been able to find anything on my issue I just uncovered. I have barely used the light while attached to my rifle and I turned in on and let it run for maybe 5 minutes. The light turned from super bright to a low-dim light on its own while sitting. Cannot be the battery considering I have not used it and I did not change to a different mode. Any suggestions on why the light went from bright to dim on its own?

I haven't had that issue on either of mine just yet. what kind of batteries are you using? Also one thing I can think of is heat. These lights when ran for extended times do tend to get pretty warm, and heat can have an effect on electronics, its possible that the internal temperature began to have an effect on the circuitry causing the light to dim or reduce voltage. Honestly I would contact Streamlight and possibly have them take a look at it, just for safety.

@@JTFActual Thank you for the reply. I contacted Streamlight’s service department and the person explained the HL (High Lumen) models do this once the batteries are close to dying. I explained the light has barely been used but he explained back that it does not matter if they have been used a lot or not. He said once the light was been turned on even once, the device will continuously draw power from the batteries because they have essentially been “activated.” It just took them a while to go dead because of the rare use of them but still died nonetheless. I purchased two of the longer rechargeable batteries to use instead of the CR123 and the light began working as normal once I put one in the flashlight. Thank you again for the reply.

Yes you can, it is attached via 2 screws and it easily removed.

Most small agencies you have to purchase your own support equipment. Such as batteries, notebooks, pens and so on. At one agency I worked at I even had to supply my own firearm. In rural southern agencies fund is very limited and officers are often expected to pay for a lot themselves. It's not the case for every department, but common enough.

You should try an Elzetta Bravo B331 or B133. Much better light from a much more high end company. You will notice a huge difference.
