What's the difference between streamyard and zoom? I've done a good amount of podcast interviews on Zoom and Streamyard now, so I thought I'd create a video comparing the two.
Stream vs zoom. Zoom vs streamyard. Zoom for podcasting. Streamyard for podcasting. How does streamyard compare to zoom? Zoom review. Streamyard Review.
Thanks to Jim Fuhs for challenging me to create my first non-podcast interview RU-vid video. He is an avid Streamyard user but wasn't aware of some of these differences when we talked; he asked me to create this video.
In summary:
Streamyard is better for live streaming to multiple platforms, engaging live with listeners and using features like fancy banners and screen overlays. Streamyard doesn't have a good calendar integration (YET!), so if you're doing an interview podcast, consider the extra work involved with scheduling guests.
Zoom is better for getting separate audio files, thus allowing for much MUCH better post-editing on the audio. Zoom can live-stream to Facebook and do video interviews perfectly fine, but you won't be able to bring comments onto the screen or multi-cast to other platforms such as RU-vid, Twitch, Parascope, and LinkedIn. Zoom integrates flawlessly with Calendly, making it super easy to have a bunch of behind the scenes processes automated.
Each is better in different scenarios, so I suggest picking the one that works best for what you most care about.
Most of my guests have audio and video equipment, so I haven't run into any issues with having a single audio track, but I've talked to many people who struggle with their guests audio, if you're in that situation, I'd likely stick with Zoom.
Here are my affiliate links, please consider using them. You'll get a few free bucks for using them. I think $20 credit on Streamyard and something similar for Zoom.

Let me know what you think about this video in the comments. This is my first actual RU-vid video, aside from my podcast interviews.
