I have been a working photographer for 19yrs and this is one of the best instructional videos I have ever seen let alone one of the best pieces of education regarding photography out there.
Oh my, thank you Jared! We are so thrilled you liked it and really appreciate you taking the time to share your impressions with us. The pressure is on for our next video hehe. Happy new year!
@@The_Raw_Society Same for me. I totally agree with Jared. It's really great to have summarized so efficiently so essentials but complex concepts. It's really amazing; for sure I will follow you.
You’re spot on about using a light camera to be less imposing. I went to Marrakech with a DSLR in 2014 and many locals were on guard and resistant to my photographing them. I now travel with a small mirrorless and a notebook.
There is something about putting a camera up to your eye that makes people uncomfortable. That said, I like my DSLR, so I just use a 50mm for personal and travel work.
This is packed with great street photography wisdom and philosophy, beautiful images, and great videography that will make anyone want to go right out and shoot in the streets, if not book a trip to Marrakech!
I absolutely loved this format! An honest, respectful, insightful documentary style, with so much valuable information and tips along the way. Thank you for all of the hard work you've put in to document and create your experience and share it with us. I would love to see more of this kind of thing!
Thanks so much Sam! We have every intention of doing more like this though it might take a while ;) in the meantime we’ll be posting more videos on other aspects of photography so stay tuned! Happy holidays
Thanks for an excellent video explaining your process of street photography! I especially appreciate the breadth of your explanations and the different topics covered. Your treatment of ethical photography is very helpful and invites all of us to be respectful of others. ¡Gracias mil, Christelle y Jorge!
Oh thank you so much Gilbert! We are so thrilled you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts :) hope you have a great start to 2022. Feliz año nuevo!
I have bought few online photography courses and participated in physical photography courses too but your free course here on RU-vid has taught me so much in fact more than any of those courses i previously did! You guys explain everything in a way its so simple and easy to understand u are great mentors 🙏😌 Thank you so much for this free course this is truly a treasure for years to come 🙏❤️ i look forward for more from RAW society in the future 😊
Thank you Fathmath for watching and we are really glad you enjoyed the course! We’ll be doing more soon, just been a little busy lately with publishing our very first annual magazine :)
I like your channel. You have cerebral content and your calm delivery is a tonic compared to those who speak in RU-vid cliches or try and fail to be funny.
What a video! Congratulations on a great production. So real, sincere and very informative. I shot professionally for over 20 years and have given my cameras a rest for the past few years but I'm now getting back into it. This video has provided inspiration in spades! Thank you!
Something between documentary, movie and of course photography course. An amazing work that i didn't want to finish as i was watching. Perfect approach of the place, of the people, of the photography. We need these videos! Congratulations
Thank you so much Stylianos! We’re so happy you enjoyed it and really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts! Hope you have a great start to 2022 😊
Ayer tuvimos un encuentro breve pero maravilloso acá en La Habana, gracias mil por la humildad, la profesionalidad y la pasión que trasmiten a través de su trabajo. Éxitos y abrazos siempre!!!! 🇪🇸🇨🇺📷
Thank you for sharing with us this awesome video! Well made, fantastic content and so inspiring... Would love to see something similar about doing street photography at home town. I find it normally much more difficult to say something with my photos taken where I live than when I‘m traveling... Thank you once again!
I like watching the video but I honestly think that street photography is about enjoying the moment and capture what you see and maybe meet some strangers and take their photos. Too many damn rules will ruin your time taking photos on the street and that's never fun. anyway, that's just what I think.
This is exceptional. You not only help to explain the basic mechanics of street photography, but bring along a sensitivity to the craft and to the people being photographed. Keep up the great work.
Good easy going explanation that touches the essence of photography . It was nice to see many familiar corners of Marrakesh , even the Coffe shops you were sitting.
As a total beginner scourering the interenet for reliable inspiring and useful content about travel photography, stumbling upon this was like finding gold. Thank you!
Guys I can tell for sure that this is the best photography video that I've seen on RU-vid, and you bet I've seen A LOT of stuff in the last 4/5 years. It's formative and deep, it's emotional, it's well exposed, I totally love your channel, your philosophy and your photography ❤
I actually enjoyed watching this video, I’ll definitely learn a lot from you guys and please don’t stop doing what you’re cause you’re inspiring me and a lot of people who want to do street photography ❤️
This is such a wonderful treat to all of us who are new to Street Photography. I absolutely love what you guys have put out this online course for free. A lot of valuable information for everyone to learn. I love how color theory was explained along with beautiful images. ❤ Thank you and thank you. Hope to see more of your video with this kind of information in the future. Your images are very inspiring and lovely.
Thanks for the course. It was very well done, clear and concise with useful advice. I may be going to Marrakesh in March 2022 for 5 day visit (unless C19 ruins our plans) and Im very much looking forward to photographing the city and its people.
You are very welcome Hlynur and thanks for watching. How exciting that you will be going to Marrakech, it's such a wonderful place and we sincerely hope that you are able to make it!
So glad I found your channel! I'm a hobbyist just starting my photographic journey and even though I'm not doing street photography, this course really spoke to me. Rather then just technical learning, it made me think about photography, and the technicalities of photography, in new ways. I really appreciated the segment about finding your own style/voice. As you say it should be about the world first, not about the photographer. You put my feeling about this topic into words and I feel strenghtened to not chase answers to what MY voice is or what I want to say, just for the sake of it. I'll listen for what the world, and photography has to say instead and se where it leads! Cheers guys!
This is a beautifully shot documentary and photography MasterClass ~ so much to be learned, so much to see. I can’t wait to experience Morocco myself. It has a great energy and looks wonderful. I loved the relationship building with the young musicians and the intimate photos that come from that friendship. Congrats on such an enlightening video packed full with your photography wisdom and insights set against that beautiful Marrakesh backdrop.
Super interesting and highly appreciated! :) You have great philosophy about photography and hope it will reach and educated more young people that are into photography! Thank you!
This is one of the finest tutorial for Travel and Street photography available online and it's free! Outstanding work and a Big Thank You to The Raw Society... Chapter-8 is the most important chapter and has been very well explained! coz that is how you will get the much required "access" which will bring up your photography to a unique and different level and help you experience and document the true, candid and intimate moments of your subject. Thank You once again 🙏
I found this video without knowing your channel and your work. I have to say that this is one of the best and most exciting course I enjoyed. And, thanks for this, it’s free. It’s so great to feel your passion and learn a lot about what I am passionate for. Thanks a lot and hope to see many others vids ands pics.
I love your story the way Jorge and Chirstelle integrate your story. I like how you emphasize building relationship and mental health. ... I have a passion for photography capturing the emotional energy and using photography to regain a persons well being and mental health Ralph
This was so incredibly beautiful and Marrakesh is truly such a special place to be and take photos at! Thank you for taking us with you on this wonderful journey thank you for sharing all your knowledge and thank you for these stunning images! The best photo course I’ve seen so far and I will highly recommended you!
Thank you for creating this video! It’s so insightful and wonderfully presented especially for people like me who are just getting started with street photography. Looking forward to watching more content from you guys. Thank you!
Really creative, instructive and inspiring. Thank you. You have a new Fujist follower. I know the "tool" is not the main thing but I think you're using Fuji equipment. If so, could you tell us about color science, if you are using Fuji recipes and lenses you usually shoot with please? Thanks again guys and congratulations.
Hi David! So glad you enjoyed our first online course and great to hear that you too are a Fujifilm user. I'm sure we'll touch on some of the things you mention soon ;) Warm regards and happy holidays
I really appreciate all the work you did in creating this video! Thank you very much! You are so kind and generous to share this to everyone willing to learn and appreciate the beauty of photography and the creative process! I wish you every success in all your endeavors!
Thank you both for this video. I got so much out of the information you gave. Your work is inspiring. I love your channel. Please stay safe and keep going! Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Just Wow and just thank you. This is by far the best master class on photojournalism with great educational content. I've been doing photography for 10 years and I learned a lot. Thank you for this nugget
Thank you so much for this. You guys totally understood the meaning of sharing skills. I loved it! would love to sit down with you guys and talking tones of hours about photography, composition, storytelling etc :)
You are very welcome and thank you for taking the time to watch :) As for sitting down and talking about photography, we do this all the time via zoom with our members! You are more than welcome to join our community if you like :) all the info is here: www.therawsociety.org/membership/
@@The_Raw_Society nice, thank you for the link. Soon I am going to Cuba and all the other countries from South America. Have a kind of photojournalism project there. Will come back to you, when I have more work done. It sounds really nice to me
Thank you for this outstanding film! Extremely insightful videos like yours, with this sort of depth, are rare in this genre of photography on YT. Kudos!
Awww thank you Carmine! We'll do our best to keep it up ;) Would love to hear what kind of you find is lacking on YT. We have some ideas but it's always good to hear from our viewers :)
@@The_Raw_Society As a YT creator for several years myself, I have struggled with sticking to my gut and just producing videos that I like to create, and that I personally see lacking on YT. This, versus catering to the large majority of tech junkies who prefer to see the latest review of cameras and lenses. As you're well aware, YT is big business and the algorithm caters to those sorts of gear videos. I think you've got it right. Teaching others about the finer points of the craft and sharing your experiences is the way to go. Anything along those lines will help your channel to build the personality that will be unique to you. Keep up the great work!
I started shooting in abandoned graffiti filled warehouses and got used to shots without people in them. When I started Street shooting I began to gradually take shots with passers-by at a distance so that I'm not confronting people face-to-face or making it obvious that they are in the image. Shooting wildlife we get used to taking a burst of shots and picking the best one. I think applying that to Street shooting can be an advantage also. It will make you more likely to get that perfect frame as certain elements in the image are moving through it. Great video and thanks for the inspiration!
Really great video with lots of great photos. Thanks a lot for this. I would like to address one thing, however, that irritated me. For example, in chapters four and five, you are speaking to a person in the room. Why aren't you looking at the camera? I would have the feeling much more that you are addressing your tips to me personally. I always find a course more effective when the teacher looks directly at me. You're not a showman, that's for sure. 😉 Apart from that: great work. 🙏🏼
This is one of the best photography videos ever made in my opinion! I've watched 3 times already in different moments of my life, and everytime I watch I absorve a little bit more of the message that is being explained. Thank you so much for this, I understand this format of video is heavly time consuming and I appreciate what you are doing for the community I'd love to see more composition/pov videos from you as well as more on your view of photography
A high-quality video with interesting education of the techniques for producing a technically perfect photograph, but more suited for travel magazines and the like - not for street photography, the photos are nice but there is no story, no emotion, no tension, no humour, or not even a facial expression. Just city photography with some far away subjects in the shadows...
I'm halfway through this video and want to say that it's wonderful to see such rich and educational content available on this platform, completely free for anyone to view. I'm amazed that this channel doesn't have way more subscribers than it already does. I love the photography you two are sharing, I love the pacing of the video, and I love the clarity you both give when explaining your thoughts. I came across one of your videos a few months ago and wish I had dived a bit deeper into what you're offering sooner than I have done. Exceptional work, please keep making more! I'm going back to enjoy the rest of the video now, thank you both so much...
Man I feel sorry for new age photographers they take themselves too serious. Im 50 & been shooting since the film days, I’ve done it all & never thought of myself as, “i’m changing the world with my photography” I just have fun taking as many pic as possible
I have been a working photographer for 19yrs and this is one of the best instructional videos I have ever seen let alone one of the best pieces of education regarding photography out there.
Great material! I just don't feel I want to meet these photographers..something in the way they talk 'by now you should know..' makes them unpleasant..
Thank you for this! I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon your chanel, always great and grounded content. Poetic. Will revisit this video again. One question, do you recommend any particular editing software for Fujifilm? I've only ever used Nikon before, but have recently bought a used Fujifilm X-T3, and now I am trying to decide which editing software/tool to use. With regards from Sweden.
Thank you for watching Emma, Appreciate it! About the software, I use Fuji myself and I manage well with Lightroom, that being said people tell me that Capture One is the best but to be honest I would choose the one that you find the most confortable using, I don't think that the end result would be very different but the workflow it does change a bit so I would consider that :)
Thank you so much for this course. I wasn't expecting to find all these informations. I like your approach and the respect you have for the people. If you come to Cambodia, let me know.
Where to start... What a great video and course! I recognized a lot. The stories about the culture and how to approach people before taking pictures, but also these places and scenes. That's because I've been to Marrakech several times on a photo trip since 2014, together with fellow photographers or on my own. It's one of my favorite cities and I even lived there for a couple of months in 2018 to do some voluntary work. Now I've seen this, I can't wait to get back. I hope it will be possible this year. But first I will go through my pictures of Marrakech. Again! Thnx! A lot! For this stunning video!
Thank you for taking the tame to share your experience my friend! Marrakesh and Morocco itself it's a special place indeed. I hope you can go back full of new ideas!
I discovered your work today and I loved it. I was super excited to do a workshop in Morocco, but 3600€/person? My god, i'm crying inside, im broke! But I love your work congratulations here on RU-vid and photography well done
Thanks Daniel glad you liked the RU-vid course. I know that the workshops are not for everyone’s pockets, but everything is included and what you get out of it is really worth it ;) that said, you might want to join our membership, there are a lot of benefits (including a 10% discount on workshops should you decide to come at some point in the future) you can find all the info here: www.therawsociety.org/membership/
