The Street Fighter 5 Story Mode is finally here! On release Capcom promised that they would release a completely free story mode to SF5, and it's as glorious as it was hyped up to be. It feels like you're watching one of the Street Fighter movies.
Taking place between the events of Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III, the Street Fighter V Cinematic Story Expansion, “A Shadow Falls,” depicts the ultimate battle between the evil Shadaloo organization and the heroic World Warriors who stand against them. Seven “Black Moons” are deployed by Shadaloo, granting M. Bison unimaginable power, as the earth falls into darkness. Seeing the moons mysteriously appear in the sky, Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li embark on an epic journey around the world to retrieve fragment pieces that are the key to stopping the “Black Moons” before it’s too late. Along the way, they encounter the rest of the World Warriors, each of whom have their own agendas and motivations in mind. The final battle between good and evil begins now… who will RISE UP?
As always we used relevant gameplay and all cutscenes to create a fluid cinematic experience. We hope you enjoy!

When Urien was revealed at CEO, I knew that Gill couldn't have been too far behind. I really hope Capcom keeps up with the story, making a part 2 as another free DLC because it really would be stupid the make us wait until a next Street Fighter to continue telling the story. I do also hope that they have the Dolls as playable characters. That would be pretty dope.

I doubt the Dolls would be playable except for Decapre because they're literally all Cammy copies and since Decapre is Cammy's actual sister, she serves more purpose to the game than the rest. That would be like Battle Arena Toshinden 3 if they just add every supporting character with the same or similar moveset as someone who's been around for years lol

Even though they're Cammy Clones, it seems like they have different skill sets even though they have the same walk speed. I have no doubts about what they would do in terms of adding characters because it would give variety. I'm pretty sure that Gill will have to end up in the game thought for sure.

The story feels rushed. The transitions between scenes are constant and awkward, and not many characters get decent screen time thus not letting us get attatched to them. Why even show Alex? What did he do to contribute to THIS story? There was also no REAL threat to the story. No one that makes you go "Oh shit please don't kill anyone off" every time he/she is on screen. Bison fails to do that by letting Chun Li and her group live for some reason. Necalli also looks like a complete GOOF here. The person that only shows in times of great danger to devour souls of powerful warriors... didn't get to kill off a SINGLE character here? What? He was final boss material from his theme alone! Still, I am glad that Capcom finally decides to do a fully fleshed out story mode for SF. Can't wait for what they'll do to SF's story in the future. Surely it will improve from this one.

"A Shadow Falls" is simply the 1st General Story. There's a 2nd cinematic story expansion coming up, where Alex will be important, and Necalli will be back.

Agree, although I think they may flesh out his story more in second season DLC (my guess is he's some sort of "spiritual messenger/metaphysical weapon" manipulated by Gill) along with introducing characters such as Oro, Eleven/Twelve and Q to expand directly into Third Strike's storyline.

i apreciate the effort from CAPCOM but this story mode its like a cartoon, doesn't feel like they intended to entertain people older than 14. You cannot take this characters serious enough for a story mode, i would preffer the old story mode. Also the art style is really not fitted for a story mode, im really distracted by the massive proportions of hands and feet, also they all have ugly elbows.

I would take it seriously if Capcom actually killed characters off like netherealm did in MK9. Fang, and Marz, being good examples of missed opportunities to create emotional death scenes. They both shouldve fallen in the core and stayed dead.

Nash and Guile didn't even talk to eachother..wtf? Nash just fucks off and goes back to being dead Of course the poster boy had to be the one to beat Bison Fang outstaged EVERYBODY in this story Retarded reasons to fight eachother *cough cough* Laura..Overall, I do appreciate the effort of them TRYING to tell a story, I don't mind the clipping but the demonic hair needs to stop. 7/10 would still bang!

+T' Troublemaker I hope in the next season Chun-Li get her spotlight again. Maybe she'll share her moment with Ryu while asking him how he manage to control his power, and let Gouken test her to see if she is Gen's pupil. Necalli will return to claim more soals while Akuma challenges Ryu to if he if ready to face him .Plus Guile will encounter this organization Charlie was working with, while Ken takes Sean as his apprentice. I think it'll be perfect, would you?

Not at all... The prophecy Kolin read in the story mode said that 130 days after the Black Moons get stopped, Gill will show up to save the world. The 2nd story mode will explain what happened during these 130 days. So it's General Story Vol.1 ("A Shadow Falls", Shadaloo); General Story Vol.2 ("130 days of nothingness", G, Illuminati); Street Fighter III; General Story Vol.3 (Post-Street Fighter III, Neo-Shadaloo & Illuminati). I have a feeling they're gonna finish everything in SFV, and then move on to the whole new arc in Street Fighter VI.

I wish there were two new story modes for both the *Arcade* and *Champion* editions to SFV; where they are a sequel and threequel to "A Shadow Falls", and it features the rest of the 24 added street fighters including AE's Kagé and CE's Gill as each final boss.

The story is terribly wriitten and has bad pacing. There're way too many clipping to the point that will be bull$#!t for Capcom to said that they hasn't caught it, seriously. Either pander the camera in a different angel or change the animation so it won't clip of sudder. Simple soultion, but too lazy to fix it. I was disappointed of Charlie Nash not getting his revenge from M.Bison, I felt like his deserve it. Instead, Ryu, a man who BARELY appear anywhere half the story a has no beef with Bison get to be the one of kill him. IMO it was chinger than Cassie Cage defeat Shinnok, or maybe equal. In fact, M. Bison to me seem kinda stupid in this story, I felt as his don't give a f*** about everything, especially that his never finish off any opponent that he conter and that he show lack of effort of hiself wanting to rule the world. There's still more $#!t in this story, but I'm going to end it here. 5/10. Thank you.

I’m probably one of the few people who actually don’t mind shadow’s fall story. It’s not special but I had a good time enjoying the characters and focusing on the big street fighter story for a change and seeing how events of 3 eventually happened :) Though if there is a piece of criticism I do agree with, it’s that Rashid and necalli are missed casted. Necalli should have been the reoccurring secondary villain who was always chasing the heroes and anti heroes till being defeated by ryu, while rashid should have been a minor character with small scenes rather than being the focused.
