It's crazy that they gave the guy from Smash and the guy from Netflix their own game together.

I know I am the minority here, but I hope they make Tekken 8 story actually good. If this is Kazuya's last chapter, then he really deserves the best treatment and should be given more nuance to his character, basically what Tekken 1 and 2 was setting up for Kazuya's story before Jin came along. (Not saying I hate Jin or anything, I just think Kazuya deserves more character development.)

You really start to get the feeling that this game was made with a lot of love from the devs for the franchise and the characters. I really hope they pull this off. This could spark a whole new generation of FG players.

I am as excited for SF6 almost as i was for SF4. Sf4 was huge and it really made a difference among fighting games, i hope SF6 is going to do the same!

Tekken 8 was announced at State of Play over Evo because way more people were going to tune in to State of Play. You’ll be surprised at how many people said that this would be their first Tekken since 3 or being their first Tekken ever because it looked so good. Evo is full of Fighting game heads who will buy the game anyway.

SNK did in fact make arcade versions of their games after KOF XIII. There's KOF XIII Climax, which is an updated version that's equal to the console and PC versions, KOF XIV, SNK Heroines, and Samurai Shodown 2019. KOF XV doesn't have an arcade version to my knowledge. Guilty Gear Strive also got an arcade release about a month after the console release.

Regarding this Tekken 8 reveal, EVO is small fry relative to the audience that Bandai Namco is going after.

I’ve actually got a story from Pakistan about Tekken 7, so when we were there sometime near the end of last year, Tekken 7 was actually there, we had some time playing it, we had fun playing it and I had to pick Akuma since I didn’t know how to play anyone else and it was my first experience, managed to beat my family who was playing with me and it was great! Hearing about there being a scene there is news to me, so good to know.

You know I let it slide when they announced the 1-UP MvC2 and Justin knowing all along, But I'm furious that we were all fools not to think that Max wasn't gonna be in SF 6

Capcom needs to just pull the trigger and merge all of their fighting game franchises under the Street Fighter banner. Darkstalkers ain't getting a new game anytime soon, but putting immortal weirdo monster characters like Morrigan, Anakaris, Demitri, Felicia, etc into SF could absolutely work.

KOFXIV DID get an arcade release in Japan btw

Tekken Bloodline does have a bit of wasted potential by just being a 99% rehash of Tekken 3 in its entirety, but the first episode with Jun Kazama is really sweet and I wish they had more of it. That said, the show does explore Heihachi and Jin's relationship in really interesting ways, and the storytelling really does Jin a lot of justice towards the climax in regards to him reconciling the fighting styles of his Mishima aggression with Kazama pacifism to become a better fighter.

Possible future topic: arenas/backgrounds in fighting games. Memorable ones, the impact of interactive backgrounds, niche interactives (like death traps in MK), and what could be the future or backgrounds in fighting games.

When is part 2 that is dedicated to only SF6 new characters gameplay? 😂 Can't wait

Fellas. In West Michigan and and northern Indiana, new fighting games completely disappeared from my arcades by 1998. Then all the traditional arcades disappeared by 2003. It wasn't until about 10 years ago that we started to get Barcades, but their fighting games are old school stuff on Multi-Cabs.

imagine CVS2 comes to the battle hub. and capcom uses that not only to announce an SNK guest character(s), but what they can do with those characters coming to metro city.

Idk if this is the sorta thing discussed on this show, or if it could make for a whole session- but I'd really like to know what you guys think could be done to make arena fighters more popular in the fgc. Because there are so many in-depth 3d action games that practically play like a traditional fighter in 3d, but none of them have vs. modes. There is a mod for Devil May Cry V called DMC V Strive that adds a multiplayer vs mode, and I've speculated on one thing that could help with arena fighters on a competitive/spectator sport level- that's the idea of allowing a 3rd player to be connected to a match and spectate it from whatever angle, especially if there was a way to view the action from a sideways perspective. Then a tournament stream could have the spectator view just for viewers, while the players each have their own screen.

I believe almost all the starting roster characters will - in some way - be new takes on old character playstyles. Marisa looks like she'll be like Sagat (maybe with some Adon thrown in), Mimi will be T.Hawk, JP will be Bison with maybe other bosses, etc. Especially since Kimberly has Guy characteristics in her moves.

I think its fair to say that Arcades outside of personal hobby use are 100% dead, obviously there are bars and stuff with some machines but when it comes to actual Arcades yeah the writing has been on the wall for some time and Covid nailed that coffin shut

the trailer for T8 looked cool but I am pretty worried about what the state the game will launch in and if they can actually keep up the huge amount of content SF6 is putting out. I worry that T8 could be the SFV of Tekken games since they will be releasing the game without having years of arcade development that would of helped flesh out the game. Don't forget that T7 launch on arcade was very basic and no where near as polished as the console release. Add this with the possibility of T8 being another game with no rollback netcode and we could see are selves in a seriously bad situation and i don't think a fancy cutscene battle should be treated as anything other then a cutscene.

As a Zangief player I could imagine his moves would have the standard two command grabs, green hand maybe, his v-skill 2, MAYBE his V-skill 1 or a counter of some sort. His V-trigger 1 and 2 could be in the game somewhere as his 2nd super but I doubt it.

I consider myself lucky to have a good 3 to 4 people to play Strive with in the same room. It's so much more fun than playing against some faceless nerd online.

My biggest issue with the Tekken netflix is they didn't do the multicultural voice acting route, where everyone talks their own language and magically understands each other. That would've been so much cooler

Funnily enough, I rarely play fighting games online. I just play with friends locally

I figured tekken not being fully shown at evo was more of a timing issue than anything, trading a couple minutes of gameplay for a 5 second seems like a smart move where you gotta fit in everyone else's reveals. Plus it still would've counted as a Sony reveal being at evo rather than a state of play. Either way i bet sony made a deal to decide when and where to show it considering the long legacy with playstation tekken has, especially if it showcases the ps5 as well as it does
