Street Fighter 6's Character Writing Really Surprised Me 

Big shoutout to Cammy for her affinity towards cats to the point of frequently sending cat emojis and having a profile pic that's basically just a cat with her scar and hat. The idea that this goddamn super soldier commissioned an artist to draw her as a cat will never cease to amuse me.

And then there's Juri who sends you scam e-mails and also suddenly decides the apartment Luke lent to you is hers now, lol.

A great thing about meeting these characters is knowing what some of them do when they are not fighting which I love and would want to hang out with them. Like Zangief who when he is not training his muscles he spends time reading books and going to the library, Chun-li who plays a traditional Chinese instrument that I would love to hear her play or even the newcomers like Luke who lives a simple life playing video games,eating snacks and just chilling with friends that personally I would see myself doing that. Oh almost forgot when you unlock all the mastery of all the masters they have this presentation for each character's like it was an old wwe style intro which is amazing.

I love how excited I got to meet all the ‘masters’ and interact with them outside of battle. World tour did a very good job

It is a great video, I was very surprised that even in place where people tend to be more "dubious" of this kind of fluff, they all loved to have affinity toward the quirkiness or genuine hidden side of theses characters. And it make sense, as you said, we are so used to see them in a position of fight and having to be sassy or cool that seeing what they do daily, to see their little quirks or passions just make theses old or new characters feel very genuine and alive. Discovering that Chun-li like Skeet Shooting, that Cammy is a HUGE worrymart (or that she dislike being called beautiful due to Vega), that Zangief love to read book, how supportive and full of life Honda is, how Blanka is genuinely endearing despite him seeming simple in his mindset and how he valued his friendship with Dan, etc. Especially when Street Figther was always very cartoony with a plot that was very manichean and without much depth (the biggest one we got was the existence of Rose and the toxic grip that Vega wanted to have on Cammy). You don't need a terrible drama, I think you just need to make characters endearing by allowing you to connect with them. Also help we never had that and that the avatar character allow to also have them be more neutral toward you. Blazblue, despite being obviously with a typical anime plot with very convoluted plotlines and twists, succeeded to do that by being intransigeant in some of its characters quirks/relations (Jin the yandere bro, Ragna being angry baby with a foul mouth that would make Sol proud, Rachel & Ragne CONSTANT bickering, etc).

I was shocked to learn Zangief is actually a really smart person who loves books, to the point that he reads *THREE HUNDRED BOOKS PER YEAR!!!* I always had this image of him being a really dumb but kind hearted muscle head. World Tour showed me he's a far more nuanced character than I thought.

Stepping aside the main topic, I really like the mini games because they really are made to help the player refine their inputs. The bottle breaking one specially help me out refining charge motion since in sfv I only did 1+4,6 to do charge attacks now I can do it with just 4,6 motion. (Numbers are keypad directions)

Ryu is a completely new person 😂😂!!! .

Ryu considering eating a spider and then going “nope. nuh-uh.” is incredibly funny considering the fact that he’s afraid of spiders bc Ken shoved one in his mouth when they were kids

Persona style confidants with fighting game characers is a genuis idea, and I wish World Tour focused more on the master intereactions. I wasn't to enhralled with the story made for the custom character, and I was a little disapointed the main cast didnt make much of an apperance beyond cameos. I would have been totally satisfied if the mode didnt even have a story and it was just an open sandbox where you could level up and do shit with the main cast.

I don't even play Ryu but I went out of my way to level him up first after I learned they kept his trait of being comically inept with technology from the Udon comics. I didn't expect the guy that every fighting game character is patterned off of to be such an adorable man but I cherish my time with Ryu.

I like how dan also carried the shrine despite struggling with it, you gotta give it to him he was dedicated

I agree that World Tour gives these characters a chance to show different sides to them which is a strong case for Ryu but I would say these elements were always there but the main reasons why we didn't see them was because he often had to distance himself from people due to his struggle with the satsui no hado which is a conflict that also gives Ryu layers because it shows his hatred for bloodshed and mindless violence which shows a sense of justice and a love of his humanity due to him not just giving into the killing intent for the sake of power.

The main plot itself is ass but these little character flourishes are what made World Tour fun and worth playing

I'm actually really excited to see the ZP for this game
