Epic Showdown Street Fighter 6 vs Mortal Kombat 1 vs Tekken 8. Battle of The Big Three fighting games. Breaking down from gameplay, graphics, soundtrack and Story.
@@chefv1deogame It's terrible because he is a good Guy. They should made him villain who is not ally with General Shao and Sindel. You know like he is from another nation. That would be cool.
@@hurricane7727 it does. You literally wouldn’t know that person. And let’s say Asuka was worried about the women she has never heard about in here life. What would she even say to that? She has nothing to contribute to the conversation on a legitimate and writing standpoint
Yeah the world tour story was generic but honestly the open world made up for it. The fact the avatar can mix up different combos from any character is amazing 🔥
world tour sucked ass but the arcade mode and gameplay made up for it in spades oh the arcade and general matches are so good and i even enjoyed world tour up untill it became grindy as hell and i repeated the same combo over and over on those opponents who had insane amounts of health for some reason i would have preferred if avatars were just like normal characters and didnt have weird health or damage cause i prefer the normal battles where i dont have to open damage boosters and health items every 5 seconds
I think world tour was a great addition to sf. You can create and customize your own character and they have their own story. You're able to interact with everyone, learn their moves, know about them through dialogue and fight along side them. You can fight in tournaments. Unlock premium awards. There's something nice about creating your own character and having your own story while being able to be the disciple of every character in the games. You can actually fight around the world which is funny because it reminds me of that russell crowe episode from south park and it's also cool too.
I bought MK1 out of nostalgia, and partially from all the fun I got out of channels like yours, sonicxd and 4th snake to a degree. Never felt so burned. If you have a casual interest in fighting games, as i do, like story modes and such, best to wait for the big discounts lol. Live and learn.
Mortal Kombat relies on random guest characters to survive now even when they don’t make sense. The next game will have Chucky, Darth Maul & Hannibal Lecter to reel people in
If they're going for guest characters, it should be those from another fighting game, not someone that's overwhelmingly in demand. I was with TFD on bringing Kenshiro into Tekken when he touched on that.
My ranking on these games Story Mode - MK1 Solo modes - SF6 Graphics - MK1 Gameplay - Tekken 8 Soundtrack - SF6/Tekken 8 Character Roster - MK1 Overall - Tekken 8 Personal Favorite - SF6
@@thesandkingdom not really no, it just appears that way because of how bad t7 looked. Sf6 and mk1 have better graphics then Tekken8. As for character roster id go with mk1 because while yes tekken 8 has a bigger roster there are at least 6 characters that dont need to be in that game ex: panda, kuma, shaheen, devil jin, lars, leroy, there are better characters they could have choosen but they picked them. Mk1 has a moderate roster but it feels like evrey character was thought out well the only exception being rain as his moveset needed a huge buff on release.
I’m honestly having more fun with Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 than I am with Mortal Kombat 1. And I grew up more with Mortal Kombat than the other two. I don’t think MK1 is completely terrible as other people say it is, but it is definitely not as good as Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6. Tekken 8: 8.5/10 Street Fighter 6: 9.5/10 Mortal Kombat 1: 5/10
Straight up SF6 deserved fighting game of the year(2023)...MKs fighting choreography and cinematography blows others out the water always but the gameplay was some garb NEVER been disappointed in a MK game until I seen MK1s gameplay ..Tekken delivered as well
since that's Harada it's not happening Gaming in general needs to stop cutting corners and hire writers for real and not have consultants MK1 has writers, but SF and Tekken don't obviously due to lack of writers.
It's simple. Street Fighter 6 and Tekken delivered. Both games still goin strong and feel fresh despite a few hiccups. MK dropped the ball big time. Game lasted like gum out of a gumball machine lol. Amazing for a bout 2 minutes then it's stale
Mk1 is awesome. Get off the bandwagon and try it out. Most of the things people were complaining about were fixed months ago. I own all these games, they're all arguably 3 of the best fighting games ever.
Real talk I still have that soft spot for Arcade endings. That's a part of what made me such a fan of fightings games in general besides gameplay and there things...
Yep. I agree about the visuals cinematically with MK1. When the game is out of your control, the game looks its best. The music with current MK's....yep it's almost nonexistent. But I will say I LOVE the SF6 music. Not nearly as much as Tekken8 but I do love Zangief's, DeeJay, Kimberly, and the Recent AKUMA Theme.
Their post Midway soundtracks are forgettable and just pure ass to listen. They went from Asian industrial dark ambience and techno/metal to generic mid as hell orchestra music.
Gameplay Tekken, den said it all. Story mode MK (MKs worst is better than SF and T best) Single player mode SF, I don’t own the game but I can see that the world tour and the masters is sick Graphics, den said it all Soundtrack, Tekken is great. First Tekken in a while that I barely touched the jukebox Overall, Tekken. I deleted MK, story done the game was done. The combat didn’t keep me. SF6 isn’t getting bought until it’s on sale with dlc bundles and even then I won’t play it more than Tekken.
The people saying SF6 has good music need to listen to actually good soundtracks more. It's serviceable, but nothing more than that. Honestly, almost any character theme from Guilty Gear Strive clears the entirety of SF6's ost.
I feel like sf6 is more like "I like this music, just not in a fighting game". I have alot of goods with sf6 but they're soundtracks opposite to what I want to hear in a fighting game
Better story will always be Mortal Kombat for a long time. Mortal Kombat 1 had more character development. Baraka, Li Mei, Ashrah, Reptile and Kenshi stepped up. Yes the ending was awful with Shang Tsung being the final boss instead of Onaga and went full MCU but in most parts it was better than Tekken 8 in terms of the story. Per usual, Asuka done nothing, we didn't see Bryan finish his feud with Yoshimitsu, Nina is Nina, Jun was there for 40 seconds in Jin's dreams, Paul and Law turned on each other because of money.
To have side characters with story development. It doesn't mean it's better than TK8 story. We have plenty of Movies, novels, vidéo games and tv shows to focus only one main character like TK8. Those are very good and better than MK1 story.
The story mode of the three are bad. >MK1 is just MCU slop >SF6 story mode is unfinished and focus too much on (you) instead of the actual main cast. >T8 is a very linear story where you watch Jin navigate through more Mishima family drama.
I always love hearing your takes. I dont really play fighting games like that, but i love all three titles. MK definitely stepped up with the story, but I've seen the issues that people have with the gameplay. Tekken has a story that I've been wishing for them to flesh out more than just the family issue thing. Tekken has always felt great to play, though. Street Fighter. I have always just wanted to see the next chapter for the characters. The gameplay for me was always a bit semi-solid. Great video. Im subscribed, but somehow, you got drowned out of my algorithm until now.
In defense of Tekken’s story, the actual storytelling and presentation is 100x better than M1K’s but the lore and cast are done little to no service (unless they’re tied to the Mishima’s). We’re talking 20+ years of buildup culminating into this (meanwhile MK has flushed 2 timelines down the toilet just like they currently are with the timeline they just started). T8 was Jin’s story just like how MK typically has a poster child for each game. M1K and DA are two of the only games that don’t really have a “main” character. Tekken 8’s story pays off everything it sets up in with insanely hype and emotional battles with legitimate consequences on the arc of their characters. M1K fell off by the time it got to the Lin Kuei chapters and before it even jumped shark with that Oprah Titan shit. Focusing on so many character arcs was admirable but In retrospect, it did the story a disservice to not have a clear protagonist. Resulting in just another reason why those final few chapters feel like such a shit show. It’s really too bad. M1K is incredibly hit or miss with it’s character writing and the slideshow picture endings being canon is sick af. Meanwhile Tekken writes like 5 characters brilliantly and just makes a joke out of the rest and the fully rendered cinematic endings are all just non canon gag endings. In a perfect world we could have the best aspects of both. Also in a perfect world, MK would have stayed 3D and taken more notes from Tekken >:)
@@xavierhouston4650Hey! Guy told what I think is a joke? Jokes are supposed to be funny! No one asked for his commentary. Nobody laughed reading his comment! He just comes off as a loser on the internet!
Also this shows how over Baraka got in mk1! Tekken needed more screen time for their characters considering Baraka had 2 chapters worth of screentime and it was enough
Baraka was better if he was a villain in Mk1. The problem is that they made him into a good guy so that he is not a jobber. We need villains that can defeat good guys in story.
@@guillermogarcin9529 Personally I disagree, good guy Baraka is so much better than jobber bad guy Baraka considering he was just a henchman since his debut. I do agree with villains needing their own wins and chapters, just look at how trash Sub-Zero became as soon as he turned heel.
@@shafeal-subaie7731 It's better he is a bad guy from another clan who is the leader. It's just NRS, they don't know how to make Villains to be powerful. At least Tekken Kazuya is powerful and a threat to the world.
This is the best review I’ve seen for the big 3. Great content man. And am I the only one who would love to have MK Shaolin Monks remastered on the new gen? I literally bought a PS2 and an adapter just to play it lol
@@hurricane7727 facts man. Man what I’d give for a remaster. Instead I’m stuck with my PS2 and old ass graphics. Don’t even get me started on the fact that I gotta share my screen 💀
Best Gameplay: Tekken 8. Game's fun as hell. Playing this makes me hungry to play more. Best Story: Mortal Kombat 1. Honestly I haven't even played and/or seen all of it yet and I can tell u it's better than Tekken 8's Story by a mile. Tekken 8's story is decent. But it is still lacking in areas (PAUL! JUN! ASUKA! BRYAN! AND ESPECIALLY YOU LAW!) Best Single Player: Street Fighter 6. It's got some very interesting modes in here and I definitely want my CAC to learn from my favorites and have their fighting styles. Best Graphics: None of them look bad. They all look good. But if I absolutely HAD to pick a winner here, I'd pick Mortal Kombat 1 and it's a very VERY close fight graphically. Best Soundtrack: It was hard to pick a winner here too, but here it's because not all of the newer soundtracks are interesting like u said. But if I had to choose a winner, it'd be Tekken 8 for 2 reasons. Tekken 8 does have some stand out bangers in it, and because of the jukebox. Winner: In the end. It's a tough fight between Mortal Kombat 1 and Tekken 8. But my winner out of these three games is Tekken 8. To me Tekken 8 is the best fighting game out right now.
Honestly I am tired of NRS's need to shove in guest characters into all of their fighting games, all it serves is make their inclusion trivial compared to other fighting games where having a guest character is truly a special feat.
@bdo333 same spawn was the best guest NRS has ever done nwxt to Kratos, the ones we have in 1 aren't doing anything for me and the leaked ones are just baffling
As far as story mode.... I AM one of those ppl who waited since Tekken 2 for Jun to come back. And I think they did it the worst way possible in T8. It would've worked if it was just her spirit in Jin's mind. Then you beat the game and find out she's actually alive, undoing the moment that made Ogre a legend in the seminal T3, and making her look like a bad mom, and Jin stupid. They left too much of Reina for the next game, and if Jun is gonna try to save Kaz in T9, that means we have to wait 8 years to see if they screw it up again. I also agree about the end of MK1, and I too was very salty that it wasn't Onaga. He's teased for MK"2", but he's so big that I can't imagine him fighting Shao for the throne. He doesn't have his brilliant mind, he's just a huge beast, not fit to rule Outworld for millenia. BUT, while we all came to the T8 story to see what happens between Jin and Kaz, THATS THE PROBLEM. MK story: excellent with a few huge misses. Tekken story: huge miss with a few excellent moments. But it's highest points were prob better than MKs. However, like the video says, you cant win if the score is 3-12
Jun was also Playable in Tekken Tag Tournament Games and Tekken Revolution. I liked her Ttt2 reappearance in the Games Arcade intro.. also in Ttt2 wii u Edition she has a Exclusive outfit
@@notjack_official1153 Of course it'd be predictable. She's related to Jin and Jun, she automatically should've had a more important role in the story purely because she's a Kazama.
Yes, I really want to believe that the plot in mortal Kombat is better than in tekken. In tekken, everything really revolves around jin and kazuya, but is that so bad? In mortal Kombat, we are shown micro stories about many characters, but as a result of this red tape, which of them is the main character? Or should we consider the plot of mortal Kombat better because it slides into a squalid multiverse, by the way, which has been rubbed into us since the time of mk 9, as well as the brazen reuse of the boss from the dlc to mk 11? Returning to tekken, the last stage with the final battle looks great, from the music to the production, while in mortal kombat I have to make my way to shang tsung, which is no different from the version from the roster through shao -zero and a similar ridiculous fan service. I can accept everything, but to put the mortal Kombat plot higher, only because of the more elaborate secondary characters, while the entire second half of it looks ridiculous, this is beyond reasonable understanding.
Wish Reptile had his own human clan after sepersting from shinryu and lin keui but even so story wise yes mk is better but gameplay wise Tekken is more Fun
Mk Deception Baraka is actually more Developed than Paul or Law as well. In Konquest Mode He actually honors a Deal with Shujinko after Shujinko Defeats Him and Admits He's a Powerful Warrior and his Ending actually has him use Tactics
The fighters dan makes alot Sense. Everyone 💩on MK 1 and now Tekken 8 I don't listen to Others I listen to my Heart and my desire i Love MK 1 Story Mode and characters I don't like the ending it's all over the place other then that I love it a lot I never get bored of it❤😊
MK is 1st in giving the arenas a backstory and lore of the realms making you want to explore the realms. Tekken to me only has a “Cliff” a volcano, the forest ecosystem and a temple.
For me SF6 is the best of the three. MK1 got boring fast for me and I like T8 but I find it exhausting to play for some reason. I can never play it very long before I get tired and want to play something else. SF6’s gameplay is just really addictive to me and I just have the most fun playing it overall. I also feel like it has the best netcode of the three and easily the best single player mode. Story mode doesn’t matter much to me personally, it’s something I’m going to play once and then never touch again but I will say that I enjoyed T8’s story mode more than MK1’s, I know MK1 gives different characters time to shine and all but T8’s was just a lot more fun, hype, and entertaining to me, and I care more about that in a fighting game story mode than character development honestly. SF6>T8>>MK1
Biggest problem with MK: constantly fixing what isn't broken. Konquest beloved and asked for in EVERY GAME? Fine, here's... Invasions. MK X is the mastered version of how every MK should play? Well, unlike Tekken and SF, you have to relearn your characters EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. MK11 allows 5 customize slots which you can swap from at any time? MK1 gives you the choice between ONE, or random. Tekken 8 has 10 slots per character. And most of the MK skins could be deleted. I dont need every color of my main's base skins. I dont need green/pink/orange/brown Kitana skins. She wears blue, white, black, and the occassional purple. And let's not forget charging us $10 for a skin that would've been unlockable in the Krypt back in the 2000s. MK FOUR handled skins better. But all that said, its still a great game. Its clear that it was rushed by WB, its clear things were cut so WB could charge extra for them. But come back to this game when the final version is done. THEN judge it. Remember, MK X was actually BETTER before its very final patch.
Gameplay for me is MK1. Game still plays like a Mortal Kombat game. But I actually do like the Kameo system. I love how a character can do what they do and with each Kameo their game plan and play style changes. New combo routes and all that. I like it. And the fact that it’s like this with EVERYONE on the roster is crazy work. I can still hop on MK1 do my long combos and feel happy because this is MY TEAM. I found this out. I didn’t watch videos to see what Kameo pairs best I found this stuff out. And then another person would be using another pairing and I’m like “yoooo I didn’t know can do that!” Lol. Gameplay is MK1 for sure imo.
I agree with you that Tekken has always generally felt like a better fighting game than MK & Street fighter. What I DON'T like is calling the criticism "herd mentality" just because criticism picked up after certain tweets & whatnot. I have fun with Tekken 8, but it's a generally more braindead and frustrating game to me than Tekken 7. It's not as satisfying and fun to play for me.. I saw this coming as soon as they emphasized "Aggression is key" during the betas and game showcase. I think it's natural for a community to discover a game's flaws once the honeymoon phase of the first 2-3 months are over.
I’ve been a MK fan since a child and will always support it… but damn does NRS need to step up their game up. It’s funny cause during the Midway Era they were over delivering with the amount of features each game had. I’m not saying bring back Chess Kombat but I do miss when these games had a little more release at production. I know live service is just the way things are now but that doesn’t mean they should slow down.
We were kinda spoiled by them at that point in time, I think nowadays all Boon cares about is making his DC vs. Marvel crossover that he’s been trying to make happen since Midway went bankrupt and he sold MK to WB. Since it hasn’t happened yet for him, he looks like he is just going on autopilot when it comes to MK, just rushing them out to make deadlines and money.
I would swap those entirely. Tekken 8 story was the least engaging it’s ever been but it’s a million times more advanced in terms of combat than Street Fighter
TLDR: SF6 is the best of the 3 games in my opinion. Gameplay: Street Fighter 6 - I just lean more towards SF6 since there’s a lot of freedom you have in that game due to the drive system and how combos work. Plus the cast feels very diverse. Overall Story: MK1 - I don’t think fighting games need these big cinematic story modes to tell the story of the game. SF5 did a great job of this by giving everyone individual story episodes that were separate from the main story mode. That being said, MK1 still takes the cake despite the ending. Singleplayer Modes: Street Fighter 6 - There should be multiple offline modes for people to play more of the game in different ways. Tekken Ball is fun, Super Ghost Battle is cool, and Arcade Quest is a neat mode for beginners, but SF6 did most of that in World Tour and then some with Extreme Match. Graphics/Artstyle: Tekken 8 - This is a difficult one because a game doesn’t need to look like God of War to have good graphics. It just needs to have an artstyle that makes it stand out. I think Tekken 8has a great blend between realism and flash with SF6 being a very close second. Soundtrack: Tekken 8 - Tekken in general rarely misses out on the music. This game continues that trend. Consistency: Street Fighter 6 - For all the things that each game is trying to do, SF6 is the most consistent at all of them. From what I understand, SF6 wants to be a soft reset of the franchise for a new generation. All the characters are easy to get the gist of, World Tour is meant to be inviting to new players while also being a fun side game for everyone, and it’s tone as the next generation of street fighters feels good compared to how MK1 has a weird blend between reboot and continuation as well as Tekken 8 which is all focused on the Mishimas (that is until the DLC story arrives).
World tour to me is kinda better than all the story modes, people don't exactly consider it a story mode cause of it focusing on your original character, but honestly, I think it's a breath of fresh air and a better direction, much like mk deception konquest mode, honestly movie like story mode, worked at first, but they got boring very quickly, and you'll hardly replay em, I really hope street fighter's konquest like mode will become the standard for story mode instead of movies.
For SF6, go listen to Fete Foraine, the stage themes are where it's at, & for MK1, listen to the night version of the Fengjian Teahouse, the round 2 segment is my fav part of the track!
As slow who came from the MK community. I have to say that tekken is the best game right now, I stoped playing sf6 cause I hate the modern control system and I stopped playing mk1 cause it’s boring 🥲 at least tekken you’re always learning something and that’s why I love fighting games
i never really good competitively in fighting game, but already play them all since SF2, MK3, and Tekken 2, and im eating good with the current gen titles
Tekken 8 story mode plays out like a chunibyo type deal but i think it sets the future tekken universe into a new territory.. who is gonna call the next KING OF THE IRON FIST TOURNAMENT!!!
And I feel tekken 8 feels like a sequel to tekken 3 or 4... the music was very nostalgic and the new gameplay feels like it's a sequel to the original tekken gameplay.. and the character endings are reminiscent of tekken 1
@@guillermogarcin9529 good thing your not a story/movie director cuz your story wouldn’t make it off the paper.. do u know how dumb you sound, the better story development doesn’t mean the better story read what u just said child 🤦🏽♂️
@@mike4282 Yeah your right, it just that they are movies and video games have a good story that only focus on 1 or 2 main characters. I agree that non-Mishima Characters don't have stories, and MK characters has better development in general.
