For what it's worth, I think starting with SF..4? Capcom decided to do away with ages so they wouldn't be beholden to any visual or timeline requirements. This is why we don't have official ages for any of the new cast, Lily for example. But when you have ancient dudes like Oro, Gen, Gouken, Akuma and Goutetsu tearing ass through people, it wouldn't surprise me if things like physical excellence / ki mastery make age little more than a superficial number in this universe.

Hard disagree. A theme is exactly that. Its THEIRS. It defines THEM. Giving someone a NEW theme degrades the concept and remix concepts of all previous songs. You can always make music different and still sound the same at its core. SF4 had the best music we ever had in the franchise across the board. Wont ever have a games aoundtrack as on point as that ever again.

Exactly, this theme tells you that when you're fighting Zangief, you're fighting a guy who's all business in the ring who will fold you like an accordion and plant you into the canvas like a tree, which totally contrasts with what Zangief is like outside the ring, a wholesome friendly giant who wants to see the best in you and see you at your best especially with your training. He pretty much acts like most IRL wrestling heels where they're total bastards in the ring but outside they're as friendly as a kitten.

That's because they are full of personality. Capcom did great hiring different composers for SFV to really choose the good ones for SFVI.

I'm glad they abandoned the initial caricature characterization of him (well, partially at least). It was so cringy. I dunno what issues SF developers have with Zangief, his character practically writes himself - a national hero who seeks to inspire others and through his legacy bring people together. No wrestling or muscle obsession necessary.
