For more street fighter reviews here are some other videos I've done Capcom fighting collection review [ Fighting legends pack ] ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rFxtp5HKVlw.html Street Fighter Alpha Anthology [PS2] | Retro Review ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vwBJBHft678.html (This is an old video that I wanted to remake with this one)
My favourite Street Fighter title by a longshot, I bought it on the month of its release for the Saturn and haven’t stopped playing it since. It’s perfectly balanced and the animation / graphics are truly beautiful. Some of the best music in the series too.
SFA2 is my most favor Street Fighter game of ALL TIME. It got some of the best art work, 2D graphic, fun & balance game play. Still have SFA2 party with my friends till these days.
Head canon ; Sagat was on the supplements during the Alpha series which I think is taking place in the mid/late 80’s, then during SF2 in the early/mid 90’s the fighting league imposed drug testing so Sagat stayed off the Gas . Of course a guy as powerful and connected as he is could surely pass a drug screen if he wanted to …
Let me help you there: Street Fighter Street Fighter Alpha Street Fighter Alpha 2 (All take place in 1987) Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Takes place in 1989) Street Fighter II (Takes place in 1993) Street Fighter IV (Takes place in early-1994) Street Fighter V (Takes place in 1996) Street Fighter III: New Generation Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact (Takes place in 1997) Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (Takes place in late-1998) Street Fighter 6 (Takes place in 2008)
I will always have a soft spot for Alpha 2 on SNES. I bought it new back in the day when I didn't have a PlayStation at the time. Still have that copy and it's how I play Alpha 2 most the time. If I fire up the PlayStation Alpha 3 is going in instead
The first time I played it was to get gameplay for this video and I was genuinely shocked at how well it plays. People love to shit on the SNES port but if I had played it back when it released I would have though it was incredible!
Ah, a neat memory of running SFA2 using the decompressed folder. Say what you want about the SNES port, but it was my first approach to Akuma. I mastered him and adapted into any other game he was in. Except MvC2. He's useless there. Nice video.
While I like the anthology version because of it's wealth of options, my favorite version will of Street Fighter Alpha 2 will always be on the Saturn mainly due to the Saturn's superior controller imho.
Awesome perspective that is well put! the trilogy is my favorite in the series. :D - Regarding the SNES port of Alpha 2, it recently received a rom hack that entirely changes the game with its improved framerate and studio quality music!! it is definitely one of my favorite ports and a technical marvel, including the fact that I am a huge fan of the SNES. :) It is a very interesting port, I do recommend giving it another chance; especially with using your favorite controller of choice where you can easily do custom combos.
It's my favourite fighting game at the time, and it's also the best of the Alpha/Zero series imo. and a well suited game to learn how to play FTFs on an arcade stick.
@@goukigod for example Super Turbo and KOF98 are not easy to learn. A good combination of difficulty, functions and speed makes Alpha and Alpha2 well suited to get the feeling, at least if you already know how to play those games with a controller.
Great point. I said that Alpha 2 is a great place to get into the 2D street fighter games and it makes perfect sense that for similar reasons it would also be a great game to learn stick. Nice one!
The best Street Fighter IMO. I played Zero 2 on the PSX which apparently had different difficulty and damage settings compared to the US/Pal versions. I think the best version to the play is the Street Fighter Anthology version for the PS2, it's based off the arcade version but has most of the extras of the console version and includes the Gold/Dash version too.
Yeah, I did a video that covers all the different versions of the game that are included in the collection. Some of the hidden dip switch options are awesome!
For decades, Alpha 3 was my favorite SF game but over the last few years, I've found Alpha 2 to be more enjoyable. I didn't really appreciate it back in the day.
@@goukigod I never forgave Capcom for removing the entire Street Fighter II roster except for Ken, Ryu and Chun Li, and replacing everyone else with weird characters, and even throwing in Andore from Final Fight, and a knockoff of Lee from Fighter’s History. 🤦🏻
That was one of the biggest criticisms back in the day too. I get it but also, if they didn't mix up the roster we wouldn't have Dudley, Makoto, Urien, Ibuki, Yun/Yang, Hugo... actually bar a couple, I love them all!
Alpha 2 is infinitely better than Alpha 3 imho, the themed music and beautiful drawn / animated backgrounds of Alpha 2 are leagues ahead of the dreadful music and bland backgrounds of Alpha 3!!
Such a missed opportunity that Alpha 2 Gold isn't coming to the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 coming next year. I would love to play it online with rollback!
I’m surprised this was never released on the Sega genesis because it came out on the super Nintendo. It was on every Consol! Why the hell did they not release us on the N64?
@@sdlock83 *you’re joking right? The PS only has 2MB RAM and very long loading times and a lot of animation had to be cut on the PS disc of 2 and 3 unfortunately and had longer loading times before and after fights* 😂
10:15 I'd actually say a LOT of games that came out at that time had beautiful presentation that still holds up, Samurai Showdown 3 AND 4, Art of Fighting 3, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, Golden Axe: The Duel , Warzard/Red Earth , X-Men vs Street Fighter and even more obscure games from other devs like Waku Waku 7 aged really well. Even some early 3D games were starting to look really good and still have a nice design to this day despite the limited polygons (Tekken 2 and 3, DoA 1, Virtua Fighter 3, Tobal No.1, Star Gladiator...etc). We were really spoilt for choice back then. The only ones I think aged really badly were games that decided to go for the Mortal Kombat look like SF: The Movie or pre-rendered graphics like the Killer Instinct Games....they look so ugly now.
I agree, although I think you had to be there. I love the pixel art style of this era but as an example, my ten year old son's friends call it "bad graphics" 😂
@@goukigod I showed my son the new "Shadow of the Ninja Reborn" which I think has some of the best sprite work in a remake ever and he thought they "barely improved the graphics" from the original! 😅
Not being able to play this on the 30th anniversary collection still doesnt make sense to me. I know we got the 30th AC but I do hope capcom releases a more polished SF collection with more features and of course ALL playable games online like they did capcom fighting collection and the upcoming MvC collection
Next year is Alpha's 30th year anniversary and the producers of the recent collections have said that they intend to bring all of Capcom's old games to current platforms. 🤞
8:36 C'mon, do some better research! SFA1 also have different final bosses depending on the character you select. Ken's final boss was Ryu. Ryu's final boss is Sagat. Sodom's final boss is Guy. The only characters who have M. Bison as the final boss we're Chunli, Nash, Guy, Rose, Akuma, and Birdie... less than half the roster.
All A-ism SFA3 tournaments are the high point of the Alpha series. A2 is only better than A3 IF YOU CAN FIND HUMAN OPPONENTS. As a classic game you can enjoy for hours by yourself, A3 curbstomps A2.
@@goukigod No... Once you're left alone with these games, A3 shits all over A2. I rediscovered the alpha series on portable devices (vita, switch, etc...) People pick A2 over A3 for reasons that don't even apply to them (e-sports).
I don't necessarily agree with that. In my personal experience, I have two friends that are pretty deadly in Alpha 3 but struggle in Alpha 2 because links and juggles are so different.
