I'm actually surprised as to how many characters from the alpha games came back in the 3D games. I wasn't familiar with the alpha series at all so when I saw people like R. Mika I thought they were new lol.
That's the thing that some what annoys me, depending on a character's ending things end differently. All fighting games have this narrative. In Alpha 2, Charlie is gunned down by a helicopter while trying tl take in M. Bison, but they don't bother to pursue his body. Don't remember Guile's ending. Wish all fighting games had definitive endings.

Those of you who want to know the difference between guile and charlie in terms of fighting style here it is 1) guile does a back somersault kick which has a longer range also his sonic Boom fire is a bit slower and hits harder 2)charlie does a front somersault kick which has a shorter range then guile but hits harder also his sonic Boom fire is much faster than guile but does a bit less damage then guile's
They have a comic book of sf 5 and it tells you what happened to him it's right on you tube and gill from sf 3 series have something to do about the way he looks.
Poor Charlie, story wise, seems to always get the shaft. I don't know if it has changed, but I remember that when I was a kid, the story was Charlie was turned into Blanka by Bison.
+OutlawsBebop that's not canon. That's only in the live-action movie and cartoon series based on the movie. In the games, Charlie and Blanka are two separate characters.
He is murdered by Bison before SF2, Which is Guiles reason for hunting down Shadaloo, in SF5 he returns half dead and sewn together, it is not a cyborg, if you look you can tell it is dead bits like Frankenstein. It is revelead as of now that he is slowly dying and wants to kill Bison at all costs before that happens.

powerful thanos Alpha 3 sole purpose was to grab some cash. at the time Street fighter 3 Second attack had been releases bu it didnt sell well. só they went for another in Alpha séries get some money because they could cram the old cast there. the problem is that they fucked up continuity. Alpha 2 was supposed to close the hole betweeen the terrible SF1 and SF2
The thing is that charge chars are terribly redesigned in SF4. Just try the charge chars in KOF or 3rd strike and you'll notice the difference. So it's not like everyone hate Guile (i think) it's just that they hate the gameplay of him in SF4.
I'm sure that you're joking but I'll explain for the comments for the future. Charles "charlie" Nash was James Guiles' best friend and mentor in the air force. It was nash that taught guile the sonic boom and flash kick technique. He was also the 1st and undisputed American champion before ken before he was abducted then killed by M. Bison which explains Guiles obsession for revenge on bison
Shawn Green Wow, way to explain his background but not why he's better than Guile. Face it, Charlie was a filler for Guile in the Alpha series. His only purpose was to give players a "new" character while at the same time allowing Guile to be in the Alpha games through Charile. All his special moves and even his normals mimic Guile.
Humorous LOL You can't say that Charlie mimics Guile in any way for the fact that Charlie taught Guile what he knows. I don't feel like your point of him being a "filler" for Guile is accurate
Chazz McSmoove I'm talking about mechanics as a character, not story-wise. I say filler, because in the real world time line, Guile existed first. Yes, it's 100% true that Charlie is a completely different person than Guile, in the story. However, their mechanics as fighting game characters are almost exactly the same. He was put in the game because story wise, Guile didn't exist yet. But they wanted someone who played like Guile, so Guile players weren't alienated when they played the Alpha series. Guile was only later included in Alpha 3 due to high demand.
Nash's punch throw (Dragon Suplex on the ground/Backbreaker in the air) is absurdly good in SFA3. Godly range. I'm sure the damage (if unteched) is same as Zangief's Piledrivers.
No, air blocking was in the other alpha games. It cheapens the skills of the wrestler/army characters because they depend on throws more than the twitch hado characters. Ryu should not be able to air throw - he almost has Zangief level defense for starters. Akuma gets and air throw because he is weaker than the other hados and it is a special move. Note, I also think Akuma is somewhat cheap but at least he is technical.
