Thai Street Food is the best, and I found a new market in Bangkok, Thailand with some of the best in town. This local Thai Market is in the neighborhood of Udom Suk and it was recently renovated. And man oh man, is it ever delicious in there.

I am (me & my wife) coming to Thailand March 3rd 2024 for about 28 days woohooo Bangkok for 8 nights then will go to either Phuket or Pattaya (havent decided yet) - my first time in Thailand. Will get your App when we arrive or a day before. We want a nice hotel near central park area and temples/walking streets. Any suggestions for hotels near everything? Cheaper is better but want nice stays - also, how do Thais look on people who smoke? Hotels allow smoking? Thanks for all your great content. JJ

OMG I miss udom suk. Earlyer this year I stayed there while I was interning in bangkok. It was my first time in asia and thailand. This was the perfect chill local place you can wish for. I was there for 8 weeks. went to this markt almost every night to get breakfast lunch or dinner. Man this video makes me sad that I am not there but also gives me a warm feeling because I had it so amazingly nice there.

It’s a great overview and for anyone coming over it’s a great vid to watch before going to a market. I’m headed back to the US soon and worried about getting pandan and many other ingredients to make all my favorites! Tom Ka gai, Khao Soi, Massaman, Pad Kra Pow, etc.

It used to be a very dark walk through there but it has been greatly improved over the last couple of years. They have really done a good job of leveling the area from all the old little shops with uneven floors, improving the whole market experience and layout and painting it to make it brighter and more attractive. Thanks for hilighting it.

It has been a little over 5 months ever since I was on vacation to Thailand. And I could say that words cannot explain how much I really miss my home village. The simple village life and eating delicious food day after day. I won't be going home for another 2 years or so, and saying this makes me hurt. Thank you for posting this, Chris. Out in the countryside it is even cheaper. At the talads we get 5 corn on the cobs for 20 baht .....Ginger is 40 baht per Kilo. PS: red sauce you said looked like strawberry yogurt is a soybean & food coloring & it is pickled used on YenTaFo (Noodles with pink sauce)

Lived in Japan a few years in the 90's - was on a 'camping trip' up in Hokaido with Japanese friends from Tokyo, at their cabin in the mountains...some of them went down to Sapporo port and brought back a huge Tuna head and tossed it on the grill to slow cook..that night we picked it apart while sitting around the outside open fire. They gave me one of the tangerine sized eye balls, as honored guest, to eat! : o

Good show will check it out in Feb...one thing I like folks to remember...when you shop...bring you own bag...the plastic situation in Thailand worries me about my home away from home...I actually bring containers which I can use again and sometimes can avoid all those plastic bags...just a thought.

Wandered through that market with a few BOD members in February, as one of them was moving to Udom Suk. Very local market (signs in Thai only for the most part), but lots of delicious options. The area is incredibly busy as soon as rush hour starts and the sun goes down.

Been there in January. Very nice market indeed. Used to go to Udom Suk soi 25 every year for some pairs of handmade big size shoes. In about two months we'll be back!

Great video Chris. Great to have Hailey's imput back explaining all the food and prices. A quick comment about eyeballs. A mexican friend and her family always prepared ox tail etc for Christmas. I guess they carved up the ox head, as well. During said preparations as my friend was attemoting to carve the eyes out the eyeball popped out and made a black mess on the wall. 😅 Memories. They were laughing for awhile. Great Grandma story Hailey.

Just went to Curry Noodles and met Charlene and her husband. What a cute couple. Her husband has been a sushi chef in Miami apparently. Charlene had studied for a few months in Chicago as a student. The chicken drumstick khao soi was absolutely amazing. Fresh tender noodles, delectable broth with peppery spiciness, textural notes from fried wonton skin and crispy cilantro and shallots, and crunch from preserved mustard greens. I’m so full. I also saw the banana/potato fry lady but I only got a cooled down bunch of potatoes no bananas; I didn’t know how to tell her what I wanted so I just took it, and it’s still delish.
