In this captivating episode, we have embarked on a delectable street food expedition in Dimapur, guided by our gracious host Louis S Zhimomi and later accompanied by Anubhav’s college friend Kathi Chishi.
Our culinary journey commenced at the old Popular Bakery on Circular Road, where we relished sweet paratha and flaky peanut rolls, two of their best sellers.
Moving on to the stretch near City Tower, a vibrant food hub teeming with small stalls and food vans, we savoured a fusion of flavors. At Fusion Bytez, the aroma of freshly steamed chicken momo enticed our taste buds, while at Spicy Treat, we relished crunchy, deep-fried boneless chicken pieces coated in breadcrumbs.
Then we were delighted to try Anda Matar Pakoda at Ajay Snacks Cart. It was a harmonious combination of chopped hard-boiled egg, flavorful dried white pea curry, spicy red chutney, red lentil fritters, and aromatic spices. At Hitlal Mixture Cart, we experienced the simple and wholesome flavours of a Bihari-style mixture, a crunchy medley of roasted peanuts, boiled black chickpeas, moong sprouts, corn chips, puffed rice, onions, chillies, chaat masala and mustard oil.
Our culinary adventure continued at Rijumoni Snacks Cart, where we savored freshly made crispy assorted fritters. After this we bid farewell to our gracious host Louis and reached The Melding Pot at Nepali Basti. It is a cozy restaurant by a genial food entrepreneur Yimsen. As we waited for Kathi to join, we relished some Wai Wai Sadeko, corn dogs, seaweed chips and Vietnamese coffee. The place offers a harmonious fusion of global flavors curated by the passionate foodie cum traveler Yimsen.
Reuniting with Kathi was a cherished moment, As he already had his dinner, we didn't go for the main course at the restaurant, instead went to two of his favorite street food haunts in Marwari Patti.
At the Golgappa Cart, we relished a brilliant Bihari style golgappa. This was followed by mixed fruit juice at the Juice Shop-a perfect conclusion to our epicurean adventure.
This street food odyssey through Dimapur was delightful experience.
