SHOW NOTES
This channel is dedicated to street photography and street portraits. That's a fact. That's not changing. Now, in my day job as a photographer I get to shoot all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff, so I thought now and again I'd throw in a video that's a little different. In this video I'm shooting an amazing artist, musician, Liredel in Margate with special guests Dave Haine, aka the Margate Ledge and Liradel’s backing singer and partner in crime Charlie. You know, as a street photographer, it's so important to bring something else to the table. Shooting portraits and working with other artists is a great way to mix it up and hone ya craft so to speak

I clearly don't know Margate as well as I thought I did, I don't recognise any of it in the video. It's good that you mix things up because the music you used in the video I probably would never have heard but I'm glad I did, sounds awesome. The photos you took are amazing.

That white mask at 00:33 would improve my looks. Was downtown in Seattle doing street and ICM portraits yesterday. Asked seven people if they would allow me to take their portrait. Only two said yes. I showed them some portraits I’d taken. They refused. I told them I liked their outfits and they were looking particularly fine this day. They refused. I offered to send them a copy of their portrait. They continued to refuse. Both men and women. Yes, I did get two yeses. Better than a sharp stick in the eye. It would have been easier stealing their images. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

EMM...strange they havent painted the whole wall...instead leave it with deep graffiti taggging... excellent - you made it very interesting / just a point should have done one with them lying down on the dirty gritty 100yr concrete. Have to find out where this margate is??

Hi, I don't really watch Tog videos unless it's for learning more about the mechanics of light but I was talking to my uncle an hour ago and he put me onto you. I like your videos my man and I'm only on my 2nd lol, I do a lot of street work myself living Manchester. One of my favourite games is stick a prime lens on and only have that to play with. My smallest is the Canon 50mm F1.8 ii but with using a 1.6 cropped factor it's 80mm, it's for portraits but gets used most in the street, throw an ND or Polarising filter on and I can use it nearly wide open and get motion blur in bright sun. Is there any smaller primes you would recommend ? Or even a 10mm to 24mm (16mm to 38mm Cropped). And would you risk trying the taking pics of people with the flash on whilst there oblivious walking towards you with there head in a phone ?

@@ShineBox-jn8mh hey mate I shoot wide and up close. So 16mm (24mm equivalent) or 23mm (35mm) I’m a portrait photographer for a living shoot bands and that is pretty much all I shoot with. I have a 50mm I use occasional but rare. Never use zooms. Thanks for subscribing :)

Hey my friend. There’s no magic box of tricks. You need to graft. You have to build a community around your work. That means championing other people. For me I also shoot a lot of other work (photography is my work I’m a portrait photographer for 16 years and I shoot musicians and bands etc, brands and other stuff so there’s connections) you have to have your antenna up. I would say keep it local to start. It’s basically about being noticed by being kind and doing favours when you’re starting out. Don’t worry about conquering the world. Focus on conquering your local area and start from there.
