Street Photography Critique - February 2020

Thanks for the critique Brian! To your questions in the video I could add two details. You are totally right on the exposure. I was indeed shooting on film and also unmetered using the sunny16 rule. Unfortunately the highlights on her face were too blown to recover meaning that even if I could save in the rest of the image it would have made her face look weird in comparison! The learning for me on shooting with sunny16 is that exposure is not really linear and you need to overcompensate at the darkest and lightest ends of the scale - on this occasion is was very sunny so I needed to increase the shutter/aperture by a stop or so. Here I was shooting a 400 speed film at 1/1000 + f11 when I needed to be at f16 I think. On the moment. it was a bright, clear day and I was looking for exactly this kind of shot knowing that something like this would come up on the corner of Oxford Circus where people step out from the shadows to the light in the afternoon. I saw these guys crossing the road and stepped in front of them so that they split either side which is why you get them facing in different directions as they go around me. @pauljsmith_

Brian, just about to take possession of my first camera in 45 years - a Canon 200D - and want to concentrate on street photography and I am finding your critique videos very helpful and informative. Keep up the good work.
