so, Im a 69 year old woman in canada. I'm recently retired. my plan has always been to travel the world 6 months a year, and live with friends the rest of the time. I got rid of my apartmetnt and belongings and moved in with friends. then the pandemic hit. After a bit of time for the world to get in order, and to recover from being hit by a car whilst walking across the road, I'm planning my first long trip starting April. Southern Italy is my first stop with Venice a week or so in. I'm a photographer and I've been looking for out of the ordinary, non-mundane shots. I know just starting this I will get some wonderful hints from you for my trip in April! so thank you!
Wow, 3 years, where has the time gone. Ive enjoyed every episode from day one. I remember watching episode one and commenting that it was head and shoulders above anything else available on youtube at that time. I am still of that opinion. This episode was fantastic with the street photography tutorial. Ill take some of those tips to the streets of Edinburgh. Haste ye Back!
This show has the best explanation/demos to teach classical camera set up. If one follows their guidance- they will have a solid foundation for any type of camera work. Good Show!!
I’m very excited to hear the team’s ambitious plans! This is the best produced photography channel out there so I’m sure you all will pull it off. I like the idea of major episodes interspersed with occasional informal sessions. Keep up the great work and the wonderful inspiration. I’ll keep tuning in!
Hi Ruth and team, a massive thank you for all you have done over last three years you all are such an inspiration. I wish you all and your families a great Xmas and new year and look forward to new stuff in 2023. Very best wishes and stay safe!!
Ruth, Marcus and rest of team. Thank you so much for such an outstanding show since 2020. It's good that you take a breather, restock and re-energise for an even better show when you are ready. We'll all be here waiting for you too! Have a great Christmas.
One of my favorite shows on RU-vid, I'm always looking forward to the next episode. I'm also excited to see what the new plans for the show will bring.
Thank you so much for all the lessons about photography, it was easy learn about it in the channel's episodes. We all will miss you in the next year but we will see you again pretty soon. Have a nice 2023.
Wow, 3 years have gone so fast. The show has been inspirational to me and has gotten me to try new things with my own photography. This show has had the best format and content of all that I have watched. It's been beneficial in teaching the basics to my 12 yr old daughter (who doesn't like listening to her dad 🙂). Enjoy the break and I'll see you all on your return in 2024.
Possibly the best episode you’ve done, everything about it was perfect! Looking forward to you coming back stronger and better in the future. All the best for a fantastic 2023 ! Happy Christmas and a great new year!
That's a refreshingly honest and candid account of how to make high quality content, going forward. I'll keep faith! I absolutely love Venice for street shooting. Only been once back in 2005 and can't wait to return some day. I was snapping my fingers at the decisive moments. Great shots Ruth! AND I have ultra large format envy. Fabulous show as always.
Quite simply the best photography show available. Thank you for the terrific content as I’ve followed you for years and refer back to your videos often as I manage a great team of about 60 photographers.
Great street shots Ruth, very good eye. And thank you all for the 3 years and here’s to the new plans…Onwards and Upwards. PS keep the blooper cleeeeps !
Absolutely the best photo show on RU-vid. So excited to see you making plans to move forward and keep it fresh. I'm shocked that the subscriber list is at 56K because it should be much higher IMHO. Thanks for all you do!
Maybe due to most enthusiast photographers not being heavily into the niche of landscapes? So much great stuff to photograph and people want more inspiration for ideas than just pics of scenery. Good channel though, can’t fault the presentation.
Brilliant show. Loved seeing Ruth learn street photography and Marcus’s new camera. ❤Nothing else like this on YT, gonna miss you guys so much, especially Marcus’s family who will be growing up quickly. Loved the bloopers at the end. See you soon though. Notifications are on!!!❤
Great episode guys - especially loved that last blooper! If the show is going on to bigger and better for 2024 then it will definitely be worth waiting for, the standard is already exceptional. All the best for now 🙂
We’re not having a year off! We will be working as hard as ever, but only for content which will be released in 2024. This is allow us to put more time into our content. Thanks for watching
Thanks a ton for putting together what is arguably the best photography show out there. Enjoy your break - although it may not be much of one.... looking forward to having you back a year from now!
I love this channel and its videos, especially the high production value that mimics a broadcast television program. I hope you have similarly bold plans for 2025.
I enjoy what you guys are doing. In 2023, you could record teaching some local kids the basics of photography and in turn, the rest of us, as additional content while you're working through your 2024 ideas. It might also function as an ad for your workshops, trips, and books. I look forward to more of your content.
Photography Online is the best of its kind show on YT! If this show can be improve, take as much time as you need., well be right here when you return!
A great end to the last 3 years of fantastic content, no wonder you need a break, unless, you're used to filming this kind of stuff, no one really appreciates the input required to produce it and the demands on everyone's time. Fantastic to see the street photography Ruth/James very enlightening, all the best to everyone on the team for this Christmas, good luck in 2023.
Thanks for all the efforts this past year. Looking forward to seeing you back in 2023. Have a wonderful Christmas and happy new year everyone 🎉. Stay safe 🇦🇺
Like this show so much. Giving a real look into learning essentials of street photography combined with the great „canvas“ of Venice. The taking and also the discussion of the photos was a joy to watch. Also watching Marcus' first experiences with his latest achievement and the funny outtakes. I will miss these shows in the nearby future, but with the promise of coming back stronger in a new developed format its a marginally pain. Looking patiently whats to come and already knowing for sure that it will be great! Big thanks to everybody at Photography Online.
I'll miss the regular content every two weeks, but I completely understand and agree that upping your game, producing better content does take a lot more time, effort and money. They way your content is written, shot, and produced is impressive as it is, I can't imagine how much better it could be?! But please keep the bloopers, they bonkers funny!
Thanks for being so open and sharing the future plans for the show, it all sounds super exciting and I'm really looking forward to it (is is 2024 yet??).
Once again a great show. Will miss the regular shows next year, but the new format for 2024 sounds exciting and if past content is anything to go by will be just as good and probably better. Hope Marcus does get to play more often with his new camera. Take care have a lovely Christmas and happy New Year.
I thoroughly enjoyed it too, especially the street photography segment! So many great tips! You're making me think about giving it a try! Thanks for what you all do! ;-)
I'm a bit late with my comment, but it was a great episode again. Venice looks beautiful indeed! Photography Online is definitely one of the best photography shows on the internet. It's totally understandable to take a step back, considering how much time and effort it takes to create this quality content. I'm sure it will all turn out fantastic!
What a great episode! Especially loved Ruth's street photography lesson. I've never done street photography but this made me want to give it a try... or go to Venice... or both! Going to miss the regular episodes as they are the best photography videos on RU-vid!!! But of course best wishes on all you are trying to do in the future. Would love to continue to support y'all if that's an option. And by the way on the subject of "blowing"!!! OMG I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Great excitement for what you all will do in the future to help us grow our appreciation for and talents to capture photography! Peace, Hope, & Joy Donna PS How appropriate that my name rolled by as Marcus was doing his math... I'm a CPA! You all sure do your research!
Thanks for all the brillant content on this channel so far, it was a pleasure to be a supporter. Looking forward to 2024 and your refreshed channel. Keep up your excellent work and good Look in completing the Mission Possible ✌️
Change is hard, especially when you do something so well. I'm looking forward to see where this next chapter takes you. Hopefully it will include some trips here to the US. We would love to have you.
loved the two clips of Miles at the end. Will miss this show, but looking forward to bigger and better things so understand the rationale. All the best!
We'll still be releasing content in 2023 - just not highly polished shows. You'll need to wait until 2024 for those, but hopefully it will be worth it.
What a wonderful show again. I enjoyed the street photography bit and Ruth's shots a lot and I think a wide angle lens such as the 28mm is excellent for this type of photography. And wonderful to see the photo's Marcus took with his new camera. I will be visiting Isle of Skye in the coming year with my 8x10 camera and a heap of HP5+ film and Marcus' shots have gotten me very excited! I wish you guys all the best with your plans, hopefully you will be able to take some rest as well and I am looking forward to the return of the show.
The show you’re producing is really outstanding - big thanks to the team. I’m curious to see what you are preparing in the meantime. I appreciate a longer show at lower frequency. Often the short clips are forgotten after a short time. And to such a wide variety of topics in one show is really a pleasure, it’s way better than our TV program (Germany).
Great that you are stepping it up a notch or 3. You became my favorite photography source in the past years. Can't wait to see the new results...Oh, and if you need people to carry your luggage on your upcoming travels, more then happy to do so (and grab some epic shots in the downtime).... ;)
Firstly what a wonderful video, and what a beautiful giant camera!. Secondly as a Q2 user was surprised that Ruth did not use the cropping button on her camera. I use it quite a lot, although this is what got the most negative comments when the camera came out. Yes you do loose quality but even cropping at 75mm, at 7mp you can still get usable images for posting on social media. Also ideal when shooting DNG only, I can have a reference to what I was actually aiming for at the time of shooting. Plus in DNG you still have the full image at 28mm, not as good as true zoom but still very useful. Again wonderful video from a beautiful city. Thanks
Hi Victor. Thanks for your kind comments. The reason we didn’t use the crop featured is because it’s really just a gimmick. Any camera can do that - just crop in post. Thanks for watching. All the best.
If this level of quality is “rushed” then I cannot wait to see what happens when you have time!! I am looking forward to seeing you grow and helping us grow!!!
As a photographer who loves shooting large format I loved the analogue affairs section. That beast is not cheap though. I guess for us lesser mortals a 6X17 format will have to do.
This is a stunning place and it’s where I started doing my street photography. Your head has got to be on a swivel. Looking forward backwards up and down in Venice as it’s just a stunning place day or night❤
I love Venice and have visited annually for over a decade. You hung out in my favourite haunts, San Marco, Accademia Bridge and were 100m from my usual restaurant in Venice. Next time, visit Murano and Burano.
Thanks and great shots Ruth 😉 one question, you said you would come back to explain about shooting live view vs ev but I didn't hear anything or did I miss it.
We ended up editing that part out, but the long and short of it was that you can judge things like isolation far easier when using the viewfinder rather than the screen. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching,
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to the entire team. That was a great show! Ruth, your street photography was stellar and James’ suggestions will help me too. Marcus could put a white matte on that first negative and display it that way. As much as I enjoy the old show format I look forward to the future shows! As for the bloopers, as Ruth says “take good care but most of all keep making mistakes”.
Hi guys, I only started watching your show several months ago and I’ve loved all of the episodes, so well done and informative. I look forward to seeing more content in the future. Have a great Christmas and new year. By the way the outtakes made me lol, cleep 😂
Hi Ruth - any chance you could let me know what the Bag was you had for your Leica - I'm looking something for my X-Pro3 + 3 lenses and it looked about ideal. Thanks in advance, look forward to catching up with the channel - good luck for the re-build.
I hope you all have a great Christmas. Thanks for this year's video's and I look forward to whatever the next chapter brings. Hopefully, next time around, I'll be able to spare the money for a subscription 🤞 Take care
Just something with the (very) large format, best to take the darkslide out altogether to minimise the risk of vibration being transmitted to the camera.
A fantastic show as always. Your standards are already high so looks like you are heading for the moon(behind a tree)😁. Best wishes for Christmas and New Year. My favourite channel just gets better and better.
