This was definitely one of my favorite photography videos. Not just of yours, but on RU-vid. The photos are great. I wish I had your photography and darkroom skills. I am horribly envious.

Have you ever noticed that if you're taking pictures with your phone, no one ever bats a eyelid - the moment that you're holding a 'proper camera' there are some people who are on your case?
@MarcoRoepers

The same happened to me last week. I would take a picture of building with a giant picture in the windows taken of that building more than a century ago. And when I discovered that picture was taken of an elevated point of view, someone started shouting at me that he didn't want taken a picture of him. Well, I knew he has some kind of disorder. When I was talking to him someone placed her bicycle to the window and I decided not to take that picture. After half an hour I came back and took the picture. The man was gone. Really love your channel. I follow more film photography channels, but you are the only one who shows the work in the dark room and I really appreciate that. This and the way you have fun with filmphotography (not wanting to make some kind of higher) makes your channel standing out for me.

I have my own issues pointing SLR’s and such cameras at people, but a TLR causes me no such issues. I think the disconnect from direct sight eases my anxiety of being around people.

Nice work. All too often photographers treat ‘street photograph’ as simply pictures of people randomly walking about, as if that was interesting. But you went the extra mile and found a way to change the perspective, literally sometimes.

Thanks Steve. If I'm on the deck like that and got a photo of someone I wanted I will wait till they get past me as if they wasn't the subject. If a get a few out of a roll that I like it's worth the walk.

Yeah, I had the security guard experience outside a conference center at a Comicon. She walked 100 yards away from the door, past other photographers, to come and speak to me. 'Have you got a pass to take photographs ?' 'I don't need one. I'm on public access land'. 'But that's private property that you're taking photo's of'. 'Yeah, and I'm taking it from public access land, so I don't need a pass'. 'You're taking a photo of me, at my work'. 'I wasn't specifically taking a photo of you. I'm taking photo's of the people in costume, on public land'. You shouldn't be able to take photo's of me at my work'. 'As long as I'm on public access land I don't need any sort of pass'. 'Well, as long as we've both had a chance to give our opinion'. 'Thank you for your opinion. I don't need a pass'. She walked away. I carried on, spending another hour there even though the light was going, just to make the point. Give someone a high viz vest and they feel the need to tell people what to do.

I've had that Iain in London. It can be frustrating trying to argue the point. (If you really want the shot)
@iainmc9859
@iainmc9859 7 месяцев назад
To be fair, I didn't argue the point. I simply told her what the truth was and left it to her to escalate it if she wanted to. If she did something stupid I'd be the first to call the police. I'm sure that the convention center's managers would have been delighted to have to explain the behaviour of a member of their staff. I don't go looking for conflict, I just don't smile and move away either. I got a shot today by asking a guy in a high viz vest if I could come in and take one shot from a gantry. He said, you're not supposed to be here. I'm not saying yes, because I haven't seen you. Shot taken, thumbs up, off I went. Jobs a good 'un. @@ShootFilmLikeaBoss

Great shots! I mostly do "street photography", but living in a London suburb means that's really what there is to take pictures of. However, I'm just not that interested in people, so it's mostly "street furniture", benches, sculptures, interesting shop fronts, lots of lampposts. (And, id I'm honest, way too many pictures of dogs).

Cheers Tristan. I usually approach that way, apparently it's called "Urban" when there is no people in the shot but I call it Street anyway! I do love a bench!

I've been really enjoying your exploration into pushing FP4! 800 sounded crazy to me but my goodness those shots look fantastic! I've found FP4 has been a hard film to wrangle for me but maybe it deserves another look see I think. I found for me I liked it at around 64 but that was using XT-3. I haven't tried it in either D23 or 510-Pyro so maybe it's worth giving it another go.

FP4 pushed is fantastic! I developed some at 800 in Rodinal a while ago and got some of my best prints yet from those negs. Amazing film stock. Well done for persevering on the street. Those low angle shots are great. Some people do get antagonistic and bent out of shape about being even slightly near someone with a camera, yet they’re quite happy to film themselves in 4K amongst other people. Keep up the good work. Cheers

This was a fun video. I love street photography. Unfortunately in a town where downtown is only three blocks long so there are fewer opportunities to get some good shots incorporating people. The upside is this town is growing in tourism very quickly so summer weekends get nice and busy so I really look forward to those days, LOL. Love the down low shots.....I've done a few of those but just put the camera on a small tripod and guessed on the composition. Next time, regardless of what people think or say, I'm gonna belly flop it so I have control next time.😂 As always, really enjoy the whole process in your videos. I'm always learning something.

not sure how it is exactly in the uk, in germany for example its ok if theres a crowd of people and no stranger is obviously in the 'center of attention' in that photograph (not sure how to put it in english really). so: busy street + church as main motiv is ok. if you happen to capture a face of a stranger and theres hardly anthing else in the shot, you can get in trouble. ofc first off: they have to notice, get angry, bare knuckle fight and / or calling the bobbies or their lawyer
