What are your thoughts on shooting street with a telephoto lens? is it your go to set up or do you prefer shooting with small primes? let me know below ya'll
I use a Canon 5D MkIII with a 24 to 70 F4L lens. I like the flexibility the zoom allows but I mostly shoot at 70. I also us the Canon 50 F1.4 lens. But I never take out more than 1 lens. A lot of choice is not necessarily a good thing.
@@francisjordan309 I agree, Im usually a 1 body, 1 lens shooter and pretty much always primes when i go out shooting street. I thought it would be interesting to try shooting street with this set up but its certainly not something I will do very often at all. there are times when out shooting and i think "oh if had this other lens i could have got that shot" but the best thing about shooting street is that there are always a million things to see and photograph so I know around the next corner I will find something else.
@@Visions_in_Toyko mostly I was shooting with kit lens 18-55 because I like being versatile and I like wider shots at some point. But as for the prime, I think I'd go with 23mm or even 16mm.
vedranart the 16 f1.4 was one of my first fuji lenses and I absolutely love it to bits. I think these days I love shooting with the 35mm (50mm full frame equivalent) I need to get hold of the 23mm f1.4 at some point but it’s just a bit expensive for me at the moment
So, as a new amateur photographer to Fujifilm, I've agonised for months about what lens to get - you've actually just answered every question I had about the 50-140mm! Thanks!!!
Sub for your bravery and for using classic chrome! My favorite stills simulation. I also have the xh1 with a grip. Stay safe! (As of December COVID-19 is on the raise again in Japan).
Great video and shots again mate, brings back memories..seems fairly normal out there to be fair, hoping they let us back in soon, hoping for another trip later this year!
Recently started experimenting with telephoto lens since I almost always shoot prime. Can’t wait to head out to my city of NYC to shoot telephoto pics.
Using a telephoto for shooting stuff close to me was always my cheat-code for getting nice shallow depth of field effects. Never really use mine for shooting stuff far away.
Another great episode. I’m a canon user, the 55-250mm is one of my favourite lenses but it’s not the fastest so might struggle with some night shots. Shinjuku always looks plenty bright though. I’ve not done any street stuff yet, I did buy the canon 24mm f2.8 pancake lens as I heard it was a decent street lens, and even though my DSLR won’t fit in my pocket the 24mm definitely isn’t as in your face as the tele haha
yeah Shinjuku is lit up like a Christmas tree haha. its great for a night shoot, I wish it was busier but hopefully we will get there again. Also I need to go shoot the night videos at the weekend really as its just madness, lots of drunk people doing drunk stuff, always fun
Hi Jonny, another great vid mate I would love to shoot street in Tokyo and especially in the back streets of Shinjuku. I might bump into Daiydo Moriama, one of my 2 great streetog Heros, the other being Garry Winogrand. I expect you are familiar with Moriama's work who is an international success by using a compact camera.
Yes Moriama-San is incredible. I was looking at some of his books the other day at a bookshop in Daikanyama. He's just next level, I could only dream of being as good as some of these guys haha. Will keep chipping away at it though
Would love to see such stuff, but in small towns without all the Xmas techno party lights. Street photography is no challenge in your areas 😬 I love the size of the mft with 75mm 1.8 😊 150mm fullframe at 1.8 😊
yes it certainly is, I didnt feel any connection with the people I was shooting. I like some of the images but its not something I will do often. just carrying around that big lens is enough to put me off haha
It is just a cheap go pro to hot shoe mount i found on amazon i think. i also use the ulanzi case as it allows me to fit a small microphone to the gopro
