Them folks just dont give a shit. They have been thru a millenia of war. So the oppressive liberal terrorist trash we americans deal with on a daily is nothing new to them. They know the police can only do so much before they actually have to go deal with a real crime. Not blue line ambush 20 units deep for some Fuckin weed and racing. Is 50 servants gonna arrest 23k people? Nah. We as americans should take notice and treat every day like this. This is how every street event should be done. No trailers no bullshit.
it's becaus in sweden you can't be charged unless they actualy see your face. so if you never get cought and never show your face you can't be punished even though it's litteraly your car with your license plate that is in your name. you can't even get a speeding ticket from a speeding camera unless they see your face. so motorcycles are pretty mutch imune to the cameras. not that it actualy mathers sins theres like what 2working speeding cameras in the entire contry xD
Thanks for the breakdown on how the races are set up with the cars, starting crew, and spectators. These Swedes have street racing down to a science and it's awesome!
Impressed with how organized and fluent they pull these races off. Takes some good organization and communications. Glad to see spectators mostly out of the way a majority of the time.
Looks like the police don't really do anything. I bet it would be easy to host races if you could close off a major highway in the middle of the day with no repercussions.
@@borderwave2 trust me bro the police do alot to stop these races it’s generally not shown in videos but police chases 2 helicopters countless police interceptors blockades etc. if you have seen the Stockholm open with your own eyes you will understand the amazing job the organizers are doing. I mean it’s for a reason Kyle himself is saying that they can’t upload all videos from when they have been here in Stockholm. And it’s for a reason this one that’s from 2017 gets uploaded in 2021. The police are on their asses and it’s crazy that it keeps on going
I'm absolutely loving the amount of 5 cylinder audis that show up to those events. Huge part of the european drag racing scene and a personal favorite of mine, growing up with Walter Röhrl.
I'd like to see someone ditch the awd and go with a dedicated rwd/big tire chassis with the 5cyl Audi. They seem to be able to make good power, but seem awkward to launch.
by far my fav too. they need to step up and get some sequentials or dog boxes in those. The slow shifting and crappy gear ratios put them at quite the disadvantage
The amount of "aint care" someone has to have to do a street race DIRECTLY in front of a cop with his radar gun out is astounding. I love the Stockholm Open so much.
You don't have to be faster than the police (but they likely are anyway), just faster than the guy who is closer to the police. I was winning a race though Seattle, and blew by the local PoPo. Well, they chased us for a minute, but ended up getting the guy behind me when he decided to pull-over. I pulled-over a bit ahead and watched as they made the guy get out at gun point and arrested him on the spot. The police expect you to stop. They get surprised when you don't, and suddenly, they have to drive in a way that they are not necessarily used to. They'd rather just make an easy arrest and be done with it.
according to swedish law (which is extremely liberal) the Police is not allowed to chase you if you go over 180 km/h in order to not endanger anyone, they can also not arrest you or give you a ticket on suspicion of committing a crime, they need to have caught you.... that is why so many people on olcation didnt care
I love that they actually have to drive on the roads also. Not just get trailered to the spot and then race and then called a street car. These are more street cars in my opinion.
Well yes, and no. There have been some straight up pro mod cars in the SO, but all the same they still HAVE to drive on public roads to get to the next spot...and most pure "race cars" are NOT suited for that haul. That the street is the equalizer is very much true in the Stockholm Open. :)
@@cobeyrivera6058 Sweden has incredibly tough restrictions on emissions and engine mods, so getting these cars street legal in Sweden is basically out of the question.
@@TheScaryName Ha, ha, nothing more fun to watch than some "I got a pro-mod!" Chad get his ass handed to him by someone who has a fraction of the power, but can keep the tires from spinning. I stopped at a red light on a clear Sunday afternoon, wife in the passenger seat. Along comes a bright yellow 60s Camaro with a blower sticking out of the hood. The driver had a younger kid in the passenger seat, probably the guys son. There's no way I had near the power as he, but I revved the engine anyway, he revved his, and then the light turned green. I launched my little 'ole 302 , with its' worn-out posi rear, at about 2K RPM, and was off and running. He launched at a much higher RPM and blew the tires-off. They just sat there burning up the tires until the RPMs dropped enough for the tires to bite. By then, I was already half a block away.
I got to give it up to Kyle and the entire 1320 video crew. With all the drag racing we have here in the states you would think that's enough footage to be had. These guys go all over the world to get us action like no other. Even the big magazines didn't go all over the place for sanctioned events. You deserve everything you got and more .
Been thinking about it ever since that day (was actually right behind kyle but to shy to say hi.), what was his plan? "oh youre going above the speed limit, ima catch you and give you a ticket!" .. xD
I don’t want you to go back one of these years. I would love to see you go back every year. That’s so really awesome racing in Stockholm. It was my first time seeing it and I really enjoyed it. And I thought STREET OUTLAWS was bad, but this takes the whole cake. And I see how JJ the boss’ and the MEMPHIS STREET OUTLAWS win so many races. JJ does a arm drop, when jumps in the air his races takeoff. And naturally the other driver tries to , hence a chase is a race. These rules are used because it’s hard to sit and some drivers think they can catch up, BAD CHOICE. ALL I alike to see is good fair racing for every competitor and have and they be able to win the correct way. Do it some more Kyle. I’ll be watching for some more videos from 1320.
Please go back and do this again…. My dad and I watched this when you released it the first time and the whole time he just kept saying how the street outlaw guys didn’t have shit on these dudes. That they were at least REAL street cars (having to drive to the races, vs trailering in giant enclosed trailers).. Pretty awesome stuff
@@nissejarnet Seriously bad ass car! M50 looks "right at home" in an e30... I've owned 3 (with pretty stock m20's though... lol), and really miss each of them! Getting harder to come by over here in the states, unfortunately. $$$ My friend, Donovan (BMW SOB) had a pretty wicked e30 that looked VERY similar to yours, under the hood... That thing was scary! He's been building an e46 w/ a turbo LS, last I've talked with him. Not as cool (but should be "safer") lol.
Mad respect to Kyle, the crew, and all those running and racing the Stockholm Open! Seriously some bad ass racing. Legendary content! Thanks for sharing it with those of us unable to be there in person! Much appreciated!!!!!🤙🏼🤪
I remember when my family was on our way home from my football practice and when we were on our way home we somehow timed it exactly for when a race started. Most awesome night of my life.
There is a different adrenalin high than at the tracks. It taps into the fight or flight response having to get to the spot, race, and then get back and without getting caught, or an incident . The last part is challenge of how much power the street will hold, different surfaces = different amounts of tracktion.
Dude in the Monza was sleeping on that last one!! Totally threw that race. Love the no nonsense, banged up, rusted out 555ci Nova for the win!!! Great video!
Soooo stoked for more footage from there. Prob my favorite location in the world for street racing events. Please try to make it out there again for the next one
Long time 1320 video supporter here, this kinda video is what made me a fan in the first place. good stuff Kyle and crew. always coming through with the dank footage
That was a badass nitrous nova too. Damn shame that the blown nitrous Mustang didn't make it to the final. Awesome race, hope you guys get to go do another Stockholm Open once the world opens back up for business.
This was a great video, almost a documentary. It looks like you had as much adrenaline going as some of the people there. Having been in both the racers and the crews shoes , I know the adrenaline runs high. Looks like you had a a great time, I enjoyed the video. Keep it up.
Awesome experience, as an american i can honestly say that America is only the best country on earth if you have never been anywhere else, because some countries just really have life figured out, Sweden is one of them.
I think there's really no such thing as a "best country in the world". Sweden is great, but taxes are high, the wage ceiling is lower, gas prices are way higher and none of the cars you see in the video are legal. But some people prefer the tax benefits over paying lower taxes, so really it depends on the person.
As always though, never disappointed watching a 1320video anything. Dude, you are a literal genius and I’m glad it’s paying off for you. You should seriously get payed WAY more than whatever your getting now.
That wasn’t luck. It was a great idea and some serious risk and a lot of blood sweat and tears to get where he is today! Giving us the best drag racing action anywhere and God Bless him for it too!
You know what they say, find something that you love, then find a way to make a living around it and you'll never work for a single Day in your life! :) And yeah, hats off to The entire 1320 crew 🙏🙏
This is so awesome and organized....they even have an ambulance on standby.....compared to the US street takeovers that just stop traffic to do donuts is just so impressive to see good organized street racing
I love these Street cars they build in Sweden man I don’t know why seeing that nitrous car with no hood and the headers up like a derby car was one of my favorite races, badass man
damn that guy really wanted to race, traded his project car with cash on top just to street race. thanks for the upload 1320, i must agree that the stockholm streets are crazy. looks so hectic but yet so organized.
These guys redefine "real street"! They make so called street outlaws from anywhere outside Scandinavia, including the Divided States, look pretty tame. Thanks for the great video, albeit a long time in being posted.
