Groceries for 1 week for an afternoon of driving around. That is great to show how hard work can bring money for anyone who is willing to work. Good show!
Holy molly a lot fit in that van ! I really enjoyed the part one and part two of scrap or starve challenge, Which makes me feel sad of all the boys that work in coffee shops instead of being out there ! more I watch your videos the more I start to understand my father.
Thanks Ben, this one was awesome. My son and I can't wait for Hard Rubbish collection to start in our area so we can apply the knowledge that you have gracefully educated us with. Cheers from WA!
this bit was ace! nice to see the scrapyard at last... well, its certainly not what i thought it looked like! (i was thinking muddy ground with cranes everywhere lol) that shopping.... jeezzzz! you got a ton! but best stuff, nicely chosen!
I used to love garbage picking as a kid, I found a lawnmower with a blown engine in the trash and sold the carburetor to a lawn mower repair shop for $8. Not bad for a kid with a few nickels in his pocket. I’d get a trailer with plywood sides and load up on scrap steel and put all the electronics, copper, brass and aluminum in the back of the van. Your hobby is truly a valiant green effort that’s fun to watch, thanks for the content.
I know this video was close to a-year-old or so but I just discovered you. I love the video of scrapping which I’ve seen several different scrapper videos and subscribe to several but I really enjoyed the information from Australia as I’m from the US on your shopping and food prices and so on. Thank you so much.
enjoyed this one Brother, may you Materialize your Farm Dream soon, fruit trees, vegies garden, chicks and maybe some goats, and a larger van, filling up more, but less frequent ...
God bless you my friend. You are a cool guy. Very smart. If you find a accordion sell it to me. I will give you 100dallos for it. It has to be italian made
May god bless you and your family. Thank you for your transparency and honesty. On another word $75 dollars american dollars for 2hrs of work is really good money. People have this illusion that they come to America and they will be sweeping money on a corner. News flash!!! Thats not the case!! You have people struggling just like any country.
Those things you thought were hubs are brake cans for air brakes on commercial trucks. They are pretty heavy and there is one for each brake and they don't last too long. Cool find! Thanks Ben
Not in Perth unfortunately. My current scrap yard only pays 5c kg for steel. That entire van load of 580 kg, I would get $29 for. Not worth the time + running expenses on vehicle. I'm sure there are yards that pay more than that, I go there because I get good prices for brass and copper, but at best, the highest price I've ever got from any yard in Perth was 8c kg for light gauge general stuff and up to 12 or 15c for heavy gauge, brake drums etc. But at 5c a kg, not even worth picking it up IMO
Good work man! I hope people who need money can learn a thing or two from your videos! Showing the groceries in the end really puts a good perspective on it!
Excellent illustration of grabbing the bull by the horns! Super inspirational videos. I loved these. (But I do get nervous being taken along on the left side of the road!)
WOW! This was really eye opening! Ben, I believe you have outdone yourself! The comparisons of Australia and the US Struck me as odd, The agriculture that your country has is unbelievable, but yet your prices are Jacked way up, I really do not comprehend that, Just a side note, I read yesterday that Australia is being bought up by China, All the farms are being bought by China, And then Everything they produce is tax free because they fall under humanitarian rules, You may know something about that that I don't. But this video is awesome, It shows that a person Can feed their family with just a few hours of work A-day, And you weren't even trying hard, Imagine what a person can do Yes they work All day With multiple trips, You not only could just feed your family but make a decent living. Again my friend, Thank you For your time and efforts to help Show people what is capable!
Yeah the chinese have been buying up a lot of agriculture land but so too have america & the UK, the gov't are starting to regulate it better to protect the food supply, same as houses, they are buying up in areas with good schools & hospitals making property sky rocket, good for some but bad for anyone else wanting to move in
eWaste Ben, I didn't know that the US and the UK were doing the same, The author of the article that I read must have forgotten something! Go figure! I appreciate your reply my friend, I hope you and yours are well. PS, You're an awesome dude brother, The work you're doing is hard and when you're 56 years old it's even harder! LOL! Talk to you on the next one brother!
It would be cool to own a garbage truck to drive around scrapping. Then you wouldn't have to worry about volume consumption, you could just crush the airspace out of it.
Why is it like this? How is there so much stuff on the sides of the streets? Really interested as I have never seen this sort of thing where I live. Thanks, Great vids.
1.34 in you mentioned finding lots of trophies which was strange you had said, reminded me of when me and the missis was doing kirbsiding in Brisbane we would target stuff to resell and basically anything we thought we could Cash on including scrap metal anyhow storage stuff like that would happen as well if we wanted a curtain for our house we would keep an eye out then all of a sudden we would find 5 of the exact type we wanted so we had enough for us plus sell the rest........ Saved enough for. Deposit for a property doing that good times
When I get the chance, I do something similar. We have regularly scheduled large item pick up days the streets are loaded with a lot of junk - grills, washers, dryers, shelves, all kinds of stuff. Great for a ferrous run.
very good idea for vid topic and self video great made very informative am impressedof of effect i was thinking max 300 will be in the van but those heavy iron profiles add the weight cool video again
Wow you sure opened quite a few eyes with this 2 part food challenge. Bravo. Thanks you made me subscribe just to see what’s next. In California: A cooked chicken from Costco is only $5.99; orange juice is usually $4.00 a gallon and bananas right now are .59cents a pound. I’m lucky.
Great video.I'm absolutely shocked how much scrap your country has.it's very hard here in the uk.we don't have people throwing there rubbish out like that here
It's not every day we have that sorta rubbish collection. Hard rubbish collection by th3e council is only a couple of times a year but in the city if u keep an eye on what suburbs n what month you get a few big runs. I lived in chester in the uk n reckon you could get a day like that beside some canals.
Great video as usual, Ben! Just a thought, but when I had a van and was transporting large awkward objects, I fitted a sheet of polycarbonate across the rear windows to act as buffer. I never once lost a rear window!
£51.77 over here dude, £20-30 under a days waige. Thanks for posting. I don't see how you need high vitamin D intake in Australia lol, you have the sun for that. I want some of that Bread!!
Thank you Ben for a good scraping video and lesson. I spend about 100 a month in food I know what I need in my house every month . if i could drive #MS I would be all for going out scrapping to bring a it of food in my house if needed. Stay safe in all you do
The tower thing was medical. As a cosmetologist, enestnatisian or med field, we all use something similar. But that looks like a facial steamer. It towers over the patient for easier use of other multiple tools at 1 time.
Good vid ben, just saw a vid that scrapper Dave did about beryllium hidden in electronics and telecommunication devices and thought to give you a heads up. Might want to watch it cause he also mentioned x-ray devices. I've been down now with oral surgery bloops and hope to get back soon, be careful brother
