Questionable management? They also couldn't seem to break East of Manitoba in Canada or the USA, Matt Frenette, their drummer left not long after their original Guitarist, Paul Dean left to join Dean in Loverboy. The Guitarist in this era was John Hannah. Great player but something didn't work out. There were some things that went around as to what happened but I've never heard a verified version. Jeff Neill joined after this and by then, they had developed enough of a following that they made a decent career out of festivals, classic rock events and special events. At least one member of the band did/does other work, iirc, commercial projects.
both of STREETHEART's 1st albums are front to back..in record terms, full of excellent songs and musicianship, especially Spider on bass. Both were recorded with great low end thump, much stronger than the Americans were recording them. Saw this band 4 times in Montreal........the three rhythem section guys are all playing as Loverboy, as that is a branch of this tree....thank you for posting
I think they are already gone at this point. That is definitely not Paul Dean playing guitar and hard to see but doesn't look like Matt Frenette on drums either.
@@JimRobinson-colors matt frenette is playing drums in this video. ken spider sinaeve is on bass -he never left streetheart but he played/plays with both loverboy and streetheart after original loverboy bassist scott smith died. i think this video is with john hannah on guitar. you can see all the members more closely if you watch the 1979 10.30 live st. vital hotel video posted on youtube by cbc. oddly, the first streetheart album was released in 1979 and has original guitarist paul dean playing on it but dean says in interviews that he formed loverboy with mike reno one year earlier 1978.
@@JimRobinson-colors on second thought, i don't think it is matt frenette on drums in this video, although he is definitely drumming in the other video i mentioned in my previous comment.
@@daktarioskarvannederhosen2568 Matt started playing full time with Loverboy in 79. Saw him many times- early 1980 with them in the clubs. I think they were waiting for him though. I know at least two different drummers that rehearsed with them before Matt joined. I don't think it looks like Matt on drums in this video to me. Not sure of the exact date that he left though.
@@JimRobinson-colors i just looked again at the other vid i referred to....yea it's not matt in that one either and i agree he's not drumming in this one either.....i was just coming back to delete my comment ...lol. so paul dean and matt frenette must have departed streetheart very very shortly after the recording of the first album i guess.
For sure I was at this show. Kenny was one of the best performers I ever saw. I used to deliver the mail out from Regina to Nokomis where he is originally from. Once an old guy came to fix something in our home and boasted that he was the keyboard players dad. I thought that was kinda cool. Wow this video really brought back some memories. Who was the DJ at the end? Fromm Z 99 maybe?
I seen these guys many times during their first run 1978-1984 ! And they were one of the great live bands out there, and Kenny was a great frontman and on his game? There was no one better!❤🇨🇦😎👍
hardest working blue collar band played in dungee old bar in my town a few times must not have sold their souls to rock and roll talent and songs are there
Three of these guys are in Loverboy now! The guitarist and drummer were founding members of Loverboy, and the bass player joined after 2000 when the original guy died in a boating accident.
