Listen to the 20 minute version off of live after dark and you won't believe the spin they put on it it is absolutely the best cover ever and even Mick Jagger said it was the best
Great reaction! Love to hear more Streetheart. Canada had some seriously great bands in the 70s as well as RUSH. April Wine is one you haven't touched on yet. "Roller" is a classic 70s Rock Banger with a three guitar attack!
The BEST opening track of a great debut album (the band Boston comes a close second) that I'VE ever heard (and I first seriously got into music in the mid-'70s): A song titled "Action" from the album "Meanwhile Back in Paris...", by the Regina (Saskatchewan, Canada) band Streetheart, released in 1978. To orient things in the chronology, the song you reacted to in your video, Streeheart's cover of The Rolling Stones' "Under my Thumb", is from their second album. Interesting side note: At that time, I lived 45 miles from Regina in a smallish "city" (large town would be more accurate, but hey, it's Saskatchewan, and it was / still is the third largest community in the province 🙄🤭). I had gone over to a buddy's house on a Friday afternoon. He had just purchased the referenced album (it was the day of its release). Though Streetheart was a well-known local bar band at the time, I'd never heard of them as I'd just moved back into town after working out of province for a few years. We listened to the album and both loved it, and then he mentioned they were playing in a venue in town that very night. So, naturally, within a couple of hours we were seated at a table, beer(s) in hand, rockin' to Streetheart in a wild, raucous, party-like setting. Awesome! Interesting side note (additional): I spotted the group's lead singer, Kenny Shields, at a Winnipeg Blue Bombers (CFL) football game about 30 years later. I introduced myself at halftime and brought up the first time I saw him perform, at the aforementioned venue. He actually (surprising to me) remembered it well, and we shared reminiscences of the evening for a bit over beer. Cool! Sadly, Kenny passed away not too many years later of, I believe, cancer. He had an awesome voice, and fronted a talented group of musicians. As a matter of fact, two of his bandmates moved on a year after I first saw them to be founding members of another high profile Canadian band you may have heard of: Loverboy. Anyway, thanks for putting up with my segue(s). I subsequently now provide you the following link to the song "Action": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N-9h8wtZ0Rg.html Enjoy! 🤗
@@barryrieder1807 : I'd heard that from one of my buddies! I attended high school in Moose Jaw, and therefore naturally still know many in town, though I haven't been back for a visit in nigh on a decade now. 😊
@@barryrieder1807 : I'm hopin' that he and his gal, mayhaps these days an American Woman (?), were aware, or at the very least had someone Break It to Them Gently, that interactions in the Jaw can be a tad rough and down-to-earth compared to a big city. He'd best be sure to Stand Tall; doing so will certainly help create for them a Fine State of Affairs in the town, and keep everybody happy, even perhaps Laughing! 🤗😂
Three members of Streetheart went on to form Loverboy in the early 80s. Streetheart were not that comfortable playing in a recording studio, they were very much about performing in front of a live audiance sounding like the studio version
Got to agree with the community here... "Action" by Streetheart would be another of their song to react to. And I also might add a few other canadian bands to react to, namely Harlequin and their big hit "Innocence", Toronto with "Enough is Enough", April Wine and "Roller" (although their song catalogue IS massive!), Prism and "Spaceship Superstar" & Chilliwack with "Fly at Night".
Streetheart on album were an average band but I saw them live 6 times in my life and they were incredible live. One of the best live bands I have seen in my life.
Love cranking the volume way up when listening to this song, Love the energy, especially when the instrumental hits! Be careful not to speed while driving with this song playing!
Would be better if you had a stereo version, the bass runs by Spider Sinaveve are great. That's future Loverboy drummer Matt Frenette on drums, Paul Dean also from Loverboy also started / starred on Streetheart's first album. Now with the accidental death of Loverboy original bassist Scott Smith - Spider now plays in Loverboy. Streetheart also does two other great cover tunes "Tin Soldier" and "Here Comes The Night". Best Streetheart song is still the opener on the debut "Action". Thanks.
LOVED Streetheart and Kenny Shields...have all of their albums and have seen them live multiple times. Their live version was better yet....nice keyboard middle section. RIP Kenny
I have a Streetheart album, somewhere, I remember it because it was red vinyl. Bunch of Canadian boys from out west, I seem to remember a couple band members broke away and formed a more popular band, I think.........
