Gravity only works insofar as toilet bowl is above destination for sewage, so, basically, residents with Septic Tanks may have to delay flushing. Generally, though, nothing backs up (unlike sewage in city sewer systems).
This is why one should research an area before choosing to live there. I live in North Miami, on the west side and we don't have this problem. No flooding in front of my home or on my street. My husband and I were careful when we bought our home. We made sure we were not purchasing a home in a flood area.
I’ve been in the same house for years. Out of the blue, it started flooding a few years ago. Hadn’t reached anyone’s door yet, but it was close with some neighbors last year although it seems my house has a higher elevation. It may happen to you, just saying.
@@j.clements2093 I've been living in my home for over 30 years now. My home is elevated off the ground. Like I said, I do not live in a flood zone. Have never had a problem with flooding in my neighborhood. Went through Hurricane Andrew and Hurricane Wilma. No problems with flooding. Our local government fixed our drainage system years ago and as a result, we have not had any problems. I'm not worried about it.
Florida, DeSantis is way too broke from sending migrants by plane to other parts of the country to be bothered with at home street floods. Y’all just need to get over it and accept that’s how it rolls when y’all get some rain.

Re Flood severity "deniers": The depth varies with location ... PLUS there's more to come: more rains, saturated root balls of trees that will fall, black mold in drywall, rising insurance rates, displaced wildlife (incl reptiles in flood water), health consequences for people that 1st responders can't help in time &/or whose necessary medical devices require electricity to run, Etc., Etc..
