The "Go Straight" melody riff was apparently a banger in the clubs, considering all the songs it's in. Edit: It's so good that Yuzo used it again in SOR 4 for the opening track "They're Back".
SoR 1 - Round 7 - Crystal Waters "Gypsy Woman" SoR 2 - Round 3 - (Alien Power) Ralphi Rosario - " You Use To Hold Me SoR 1 & 2 Theme could also be Soul II Soul - "Keep On Movin" for the Piano Bass & Strings.
@@TheOneSymphony At 4:50 That track called Mutoid Waste by Magoria is pure fire. I only found out about it from this video. Anyone who is interested, search for: Magoria - Mutoid Waste (12 inch mix) also known as Magoria - Mutoid Waste (Tantric Tempo)
I didn't even knew for the longest time but for me is the same, techno and house are still my favorite generes of music almost 30 years later ad I think is thanks to this game
Ok, while this goes beyond "influences" in many cases, it's also quite easy to notice that many of the original songs that "influenced" the OSTs were already pretty similar between themselves; those who influenced "Go Straight" in particular.
House/EDM from that era used similar samples so the entire DJ set flows together. There's several famous and even more not-so-famous singles that sound like Fighting in the Street, for example. Having said that, Motohiro Kawashima's music contribution to the SOR series had more originality
They probably noticed but people didn't say much as it was a different time. People nowadays like to call plagiarism or hate but all music influences all others. There's only but so many music combinations as shown in this video hiw multiple records sound like each other so that would mean those guys are ripping each other off as well.
I think all the "influences" for Go Straight are a bit misleading, Good Life by Inner City was such a massive club hit that everyone and their dog ripped it off circa 1990 (hence all the soundalikes). It's possible though unlikely that Yuzo Koshiro was inspired by one of the Good Life soundalikes and not the original, but it's more likely that it's inspired by Good Life
Wait...He may be right....But on a different song though. After listening to the instrumental version of Ebeneezer Goode by The Shamen at 0:44 in the song (when the rapping is supposed to start) I can hear it's influence on Streets Of Rage Stage 1-1 (Go Straight) at 1:14 in the video game music. But I also hear the influence of Move Any Mountain by The Shamen at 0:23 in the song when I listen to Streets Of Rage - (Under Logic) at 0:29 in the video game music. The time stamps mentioned are not referring to this video, but instead the actual tracks from each SOR stage and the actual tracks from the songs mentioned above
I wonder, is there enough out there to do the same on Revenge of Shinobi? I know one track was based on Prince's Batman song, but that's about it in terms of specific songs I know of.
'THE MAXI PRIEST' reminds me a little of the first level music in Sonyc, a sonic fangame for MSX2 and GBA. Some absolutely great artists here, yuzo had great taste
I'm not sure if the following songs i mention in this message sampled older songs but it sounds very much like "Livin Joy - Dreamer" was sampled by SoR2. Also, I just heard "Double You - Looking at my Girl" and oh my goodness, it sounds exactly like a SOR2 song from the game.
Now try listening to this a room away, you might not notice the difference between the real songs and the SOR music. But of course you most likely do, considering that you are here and probably have played the game a million times and heard the SOR music just as much
You can, just replace the audio files. You can use Magic ISO or a similar program. I actually replace the Arcade OST of Golden Axe with the Sega Ages PS2 OST. It's even easier to switch out tracks for MD+ patches but it can be done for both. :)
Ugh. Why does everyone always include the singing when comparing "Black Box Everybody" to SoR2? Just play the start of the 1990 Black Box Everybody song, it is so clear that 1992 SoR2 was influenced by it. When I first heard "black box everybody" in real life, i was like, "holy shit, sor2 borrowed/sampled from this song so much."

Go straight is ALL AROUND THE WORLD BY LISA STANFIELD SOUNDS SO SIMILAR BUT KOSHIRO ADDS SOME DRUMS AND MORE SPEED. Edit: IS ALL THE SONGS THAT U SHOW IN THE VIDEO + ALL AROUND THE WORLD LISA STANFIELD AT THE INSTRUMENTAL BRIDGE PART.
@@DuoVII I have the vinyls for 1 and 2 and while they are great the individual loops are too short... better to boot up the game and go to the sound test and just have them loop infinitely! =P
Yuzo basically ripped these songs off 90's dance/eurohouse and enhanced the sound. Plus the streets of rage game is also a mix between street fighter and TMNT and thats where he got influence for the game SF for the characters and TMNT for the beat them up style fighting.
He didn't rip them off because there is clear similarities but major differences. That's how all music works, something fuels something else in part or in whole
@@TheOneSymphony I understand, everyone has influences and looks at other sources to gather ideas and information; sometimes combining/merging them together. All I'm trying to say is he did rip off alot of the sounds and beats plus mixed them together. I grew up in the early 90's; so I knew all this music from radio, TV, dance clubs and even in the shopping malls because they use to blast this music.
@@tropicalbeach9225 that's the thing it's not ripping off. It only qualifies as ripping off if he barely changed anything but there are drastic changes

They stated that they borrowed from many Urban artist for their work in Streets of Rage several times. They even listed the artist and works they pulled from so this is rumor it's fact.
None of this is plagiarized as it sounds close but not direct in all cases. There's obvious differences and laws that cover that so with how popular this soundtrack is, there would have been major plagiarism cases in the courts. So definitely not plagiarism, it's how music works.
@@mushshrap6471 then you're definitely doing something or don't know what you're doing because any music that's done will have similarities, close or gapped and can be equated to something else. Too many songs today use the same chordal modes or even just the chords of something else and will sound the same but I bet you won't say they are stealing
Is a sound engineer I have to cosign you 100%, he is certainly a thief if he was to do this practice in America he would have been put up on charges countless times he should be thankful that Japan will never hold their own people accountable for plagiarism on the international scale
Damn, so this is where all the SOR songs came from. Too bad SOR4 had a garbage as hell lazier soundtrack that got a free pass by riding the coat tales of SOR 1-3. Nothing in that game comes close to the music in 1-3
