I've been watching vids of you playing this since it came out in 2020, and I've got to say, I'm thrilled that you're still you're still keeping at it. A lot of the strats that you incorporated into your initial runs actually had a hand in helping me get way better at certain stages. You're one of the best out there. Keep doing what you do.
I finally got my first clear in this game last night. It was only on easy, but I've never really liked any beat em ups enough to try to finish them before finding this game, it's really good
I feel the same way about fighting games. I gotta put the game on easy mode to beat the CPUs and I kinda suck at that but that doesn’t matter because I’m having so much fun. This game is awesome, I hope you continue playing it (:

Just wanted to let you know dude, I recently met a group for shredder's revenge. We did a all red dip switch run in custom game and no one died. I mention you during the metal head fight. Awesome, I'm just glad my videos could help. I'll check that out when I get the chance. I've been wanting to play TMNT again as well, I haven't tried it since they added the dip switches. That'll definitely be fun to mess around with.
Class playthrough as always, Axel seems closer to Adam now with the update. I agree with your comment tho but I think finding the right balance with all the various characters was always going to be difficult. All I can say is its the one game I've played the most since it came out. Stressed after work? just open a fresh one and smash Donovan in the face with a lead pipe. Keep it simple
It's cool that the game is still getting updates, but if the textures for the older characters are still the same instead of being brought on par with the new ones, I'm not interested. Nice vid though.
God I wish they'd drop a patch where an unused button gets a shift feature, letting us access both the vanilla supers AND the unlocked in the same run. There's variety now, but nkt QUITE enough for one charecter to not feel stake after 2 missions for me. Ah well. Absolutely fantastic gameplay. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the super chat, I really appreciate it! It would be interesting if they let you switch your moveset mid-run. That'd open up new combo possibilities and let you have the best move for each situation. I still like having to make a tradeoff between each move's pros and cons at the start, but the balance is already kinda crazy, so being able to shift between them could just be more fun.
I've said it day one, but the problem with the balance is that you just need 2+HP to use any invincible special instead of the actual health the move normally consumes. So as long as you can squeeze a jab or anything in between special attacks, you can throw the fundamentals to the trash can. A game that heavily relied on using throws at the right moments has made them unnecessary and even dangerous for keeping your combo. The original balance was so modeled after SOR2, especially for Axel and Blaze, that you still had to play very carefully. Unless you were playing with Cherry which is why she was so dominant pre-patch. Since the new moves that the Nightmare DLC added, every character has access to offensive options that sports good hitboxes, good s, and most important of all, good mobility. Advancing while attacking without doing a jump attack is something you need to nerf in some way if you do not want it to kill the importance of positionning and grouping well. Often with recovery frames that will cost you health to cancel out of. But when you can recover that health spent, or at least, just the amount of health you need, by doing this moving attack again, you're breaking the natural balance of the game. I would prefer if using the alternate moves for each character prevented you from regestering your score in the leaderboard.
Does axel's forward, forward uppercut generate I-frames in this game? In SoR 2 it generates a fuck ton of them and doesnt require any health to use. I got through hardest difficulty in that game by relying mainly on that move. I'm wondering if it works the same in 4 or if you have to use the health reducing moves for i-frames

I personally think you should've selected an alternate color for Axel Stone like you did with Blaze (although I didn't like the color choice you picked for her. Oh well, to each their own; I liked her blond alt. Her other 2 color alts are not my cup of tea).
Working on these S ranks but I really ain’t put that much time into learning the diff characters and their moves.. I want that platinum though, I had SOR on megadrive when I was like 6 😅
New stages mixing up buddies between players not just the same old ones also more damage for them new weapons and music new max looks great however same old move set with less push back each character looks great move set though same thing looks nice does some damage but not as fun. I know there are moves you can add but it's the recycled ones that need to be improved like when they do there move they do another one right after the 1st one this would be more fun and extra damage neck breaker atomic drop for max i'm glad are still here the damage and feeling they had then not the same here people don'move and perform to well faster speed for main mode helpful survival i feel on being fast is it should be given to the player right away at max level so slow people are beat em ups in general just need more room to breath and expand to be as great as they can be.
I'll edit them in next time I play (I don't know the names of anything off the top of my head), but for now, the only default move I kept for Axel is his forward+special combo. I swapped the rest out for the unlockable moves.
Lol, ignore all of this "gameplay". Scripted BS. This isn't the worst game in the franchise. Streets of rage 3 holds that title. Not to be confused with Bare Knuckle 3, which was okay. Streets of Rage 2 is the best and most playable. Streets of Rage 4 is a cheap and cheesy cash grab.
Nothing about SOR4 is “cheap”, “cheesy”, or a cash grab. The game was made with painstaking effort and research. Dot Emu did a phenomenal job on this game. The hand drawn graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is even more fun and addictive, Mr X’s Nightmare is a good survival mode, they went through the effort of adding extra specials and supers, etc. I’ve been playing the series since 1992 and this is easily one of my favorite games in the franchise.
@@orlanzo2621 It’s a good nostalgia trip. Basing SOR4 off of SOR2 was a good start. However, it’s not an arcade game anymore. That’s where it becomes a cheap cash grab. Instead of getting extra quarters they get bad reviews.
