Yuzo in an interview said he used old genesis instruments to make the song and after that, he'd use more modern stuff. I imagine this is what it sounded like. (edit: grammar)
That is a very effective way to compose. Perhaps the limitations of the original helped him prioritize what he'd use to upgrade it? For some of my SOW2 tracks, I actually made the "hi-def" version then demade it. But it'll be interesting to see how it works in reverse, once I attempt it on a few tracks.
He often share YM2612 mixes of his musics on his RU-vid or Twitter (YM2612 is the Yamaha audio chip of the Sega Genesis). So I hope he'll share his SOR 4 musics in YM2612 !
Actually if you listen to the track, there's a moment in what might be the "break" of the song where you can distinctly hear drums from SoR3, or at the very least my mind is tricking me into hearing the snare and kick from the SoR3 soundtrack layered in
When Yuzo Koshiro himself likes your remix you know you have done a hell of a job. This is awesome! Especially the transition from SoR2 to 3 which in theory should be almost impossible to not feel awkward (and not because 3's music is bad or anything but the style is just so different compared to 1 and 2!) but damn you really pulled it off!
Thanks! Yeah that last part was pretty tough. In the case of this remix, I had to split it into two projects: SOR1+2 and SOR3. The resources would probably be a bit too much all in one. I also split projects in Streets Of Wrath 4 for Musashi, Braving The Skies, and Vengeance IV.
OMG YES! I was browsing through music thinking "I wish someone did a remix of all the stage one themes" and bam I found this nostalgia video! You are the best! xxxxxxxxxx
Man I really wish you'd extend "The Poets I" part, that was awesome I can't get enough of 7:59 That part is godlike, better than anything I've ever heard in a Streets of Rage game...
4:52 to 6:25 is my favorite part of the whole track, but the entire song was a pure representation of streets of rage music. Thank you so much for this new ear worm, probably the best ear worm ive had in a while to be honest
Poets 1 is just a great track, so anything that uses it is just good. I'd love to have Iceferno do a soundtrack for levels and an artist do backgrounds for an Eddie/Zan/Shiva/Estel story that takes place alongside SoR4.
Iceferno Pro on par with When All Else Fades (Streets of Fade Mix) for me. You must have been stoked Yuzo replied to you on this one. I wonder if he kept the YM version he was trying?
Oh thanks! That was my first experience working with SOR1 sounds, so I'm impressed it's still well received. I was so happy Yuzo enjoyed my take on They're Back (and then Dotemu tweeted it!). :) Yeah, I wonder that myself. I can't see him throwing it away.
Magnificent work on this retro medley of yours! Each loop stands out nicely, adding new riffs and drums to the table with each passing minute! Very well done indeed!
Man this takes me back to the 90s, giving me that awesome Technotronic vibe! You could stick vocals from Ya Kid K and they would fit right in your tracks man! Thank you for blast from the past, with SOR4 newness in the mix!
I remember when I first clicked on this video. I could imagine Poets 1 with this I could literally hear it, and when it got to that part ( cuz I didn't know ) I was surprised and very happy to hear it. This is a great arrangement keep up the good work 👍
Just going through some of your old tracks rn, I remember this one, I like how you have combined the SOR2 and SOR1 sound set together in the beginning and changed them during transition, it suits the atmosphere here, magical remix, Yuzo along with everyone else following your musical journey is proud, and so am I.❤
Definitely amazing work man! Listen to a lot your tracks daily. Love the NBA jam remix also. Awesome that u have such a huge catalog as well. Non stop nostalgia but even better then before. Thank you so much. Keep up the good work my friend.
Thanks a lot. 👍 I try to balance remixes and original work. As much as I enjoy the remixes, my conceptual work is what I'm most proud of. I can't wait to show that more when I release my new album Streets Of Paradise.
The first level of SoR4 is brilliant. Simple enough for two strangers on the internet to get an idea of what the partner is capable of while introducing enemy types at a nice pace. Higher difficulties get crazy too. This game @.@
Hey are you going to do a review of the new game? I know your channel is more about music but I would love to know what you thought. Love the remixes you do. Keep it up!
That's a great suggestion actually. I could try for something towards the end of the month? But it's difficult to tell how it would be received on a channel like this. Thanks for the kind words!
Absolutely. :) I wanted to make that connection in the tracks, which is actually something Remake V5's Under Logic did too. I had no idea how they got the original sounds in there until I recently got a remix kit of it on the original Shamen single. Although annoyingly, some of the vocals are missing from it.
@@davidspyro I've gotta return to Hunter Edition! SOW4 is a priority atm. Since I'm using high def instruments, the process feels fresher. I've hit a bit of a wall with HE tbh, but a break from it could help me improve on what I have.
It's always nice to read stuff like this, thank you. I'll get to more SOR4 tracks eventually. I've been pleasantly surprised by some of Motohiro's tracks. His Barbon one has a great sound to it.
@@Iceferno yoko did too with Shiva but man I tell you Olivier killed it. I blow out my sub woofer with alot of his tracks lol. Gotta play them loud lol
To this day I still say Iceferno should've been on the music team with Yuzo to make the SOR4 soundtrack. Every song you've covered or done a mashup of fits perfectly and keeps the game alive for me. Ill listen to Streets of Wrath or others and immediately have to go play a game or two lol.
Thanks! I'll see what more I can do. There are a lot of great themes, some of which kind of miss the mark for that SOR sound, but could have retro potential.
I've been gradually hearing more of the soundtrack, and yeah, it does feel off in places. I'm doing my best to make a 2000s SOR album, since that's when the game is set.
I think Olivier did alright since he was not trying to be the next Yuzo and said he will never reach that peak. I do wish Yuzo was the main composer since SoR4 is not fully involved by Sega other than just using the franchise name.
@@MrXabungle I really enjoyed Yuzo's tracks for SOR4. They're Back is a gorgeous start to the game, and the main theme is incredible. I think he has a stronger grasp of what the game is, as he's modernized the 90s sound in his tracks. It doesn't feel dated and yet sort of uses the old style, much like the cartoony visuals and new gameplay elements despite the usual side-scrolling action.
I'd have to re-render the track for lossless, but could offer it in exchange for a few tracks from iceferno.bandcamp.com. I tend to do that for remixes, since I can't specifically sell them. So I send them to customers in addition to their store purchases.
I want the full song of the last one, from Part 3 the remix Poets II. Where can I get it? Cant believe people crapped on SOR3 music, it had some good songs. Much better than the fourth game for sure.
@@Iceferno So you don't have the last part, the one from SOR3? Damn I want it. That's the best part of the song, and I can't even find it nowhere either. I've never even heard that version before until I listened to this video.
God I love this remix so much. Especially the subtle drum change from sor1 to sor2 with the character change. Genius 🙌🏽. What program do you use when making a beat?
Thank you! I wanted to make a special remix for such a theme. I primarily use FL Studio, though I've also dabbled in Reason and Logic, that latter being the more favourable of the two.
There's not a public one, but listeners will often buy my original music from iceferno.bandcamp.com and request a remix download after it in messages. I email them a temporary link which is active for 7 days.
