Hi! :) If you are scrolling through the comment section to make sure, you´re not the only one struggling.. You are doing great! I am so proud of you for starting the workout today. Make sure you stay hydrated, step up your nutrition game and try to get loads of sleep. Lots of love xx
If you’re a dancer who’s on break, has nowhere to take class, wants to stay in shape but will not leave the couch unless you’re told what to do, this is the perfect video for you! So glad to have found something that works my entire body and is challenging but doesn’t make me want to die inside! Thanks Katie😊
@@Isa.bellevie Yes because of the corona virus here in Belgium, the dance schools have been closed for 5 months now. That's just not being able to train and see your friends there
@@justinepalomares8410 It will improve your dance, especially ballet, but I would recommend enrolling in a studio, or trying some of her ballet classes to learn ballet.

I wish I had found this video sooner! I haven’t taken a formal ballet class in nearly ten years, but I’ve been dancing for fun and noticed my technique isn’t what it used to be. After a few months of doing this regularly, I feel so much stronger and in control, and I feel like I could actually get my turns back to decent condition ! 😊 Also, my ankles have never been this strong, and I’ve been dancing since age 2 or 3.
I loved this so much. I'm always very wary of workouts from non-dancers; I'm scared that I'll injure myself or work the wrong muscles. It's so nice to have one especially for dancers, with stretching included too! I used two pairs of dead pointe shoes as weights!
I haven't danced in over 20 years, and am currently undergoing cancer treatment, including having surgery recently. This is the perfect stretching and conditioning routine for my current fitness and health level. Thank you Kathryn for bringing dance back into my life in a meaningful and doable way. I have also been doing your beginner barre routine, and I love it! You can't possibly know how happy this has made me, and how much hope it brings me to be able to get some of my "old" life back!
KM: You might get a hip pop- Me: Ooooo I got one! Also, I'm usually not able to get all the way down into the splits on my right side, but today I did! :)
I'm seriously addicted to this workout! I've been having knee problems so I'm not able to do much barre and center work, but I've been doing this workout twice a week for the last year, and the updated version instead whenever I want to do something different. It's been too easy for a while now, which I like, (who doesn't like easy? 😃) but I'm finally adding ankle weights for the leg, abs, and back workouts, and a theraband for the turnout exercise. I plan to increase the ankle weights and the thickness of the theraband slowly. I want to stay strong and pray that I can get back to the barre soon!
Thank you for saving me! Love your workouts and your “real” personality- I am a former ballet dancer (60yrs old now) and after running and cycling for the past ten years, I am getting back to my body- it feels so great! Thank you❤️.
Wow, Katie, you look so good! And, I always enjoy how colorful and happy your wardrobe always looks! Thanks for all the effort you put into making all your videos beautiful!
God I haven’t danced in three years and I definitely fell out of shape in that time frame, this work out killed me! I’m starting classes again this week, so my plan in to do this workout once a week to help with classes! Wish me luck
I honestly love this video so much. As a beginner it was the perfect routine because although I’m not as open as you the exercises were doable and watching you served as inspiration! Plus your personality is just the sweetest. Thank you!!
Wow, I tried your beginner ballet barre exercise after not dancing for decades, and so much muscle memory came back. Then decided to do this workout and I LOVE it. I can't complete all the exercises yet, but your instruction and knowledge of anatomy are the clearest I've ever encountered. I so appreciate you taking the time to make these videos and the detail of instruction that goes into them.
Dear Katie, after 1 year following your ballet barres i just discovered I am able to stand up again from my bathtube by myself! I was so thrilled and overjoyed after many years not been able to do it without the help of my husband, that I almost cry of joy! Due to my Lupus condition since I was 28 I used to have inflammation in my joints and my knees remained thereafter weak. But it seems your barres have made my legs stronger. So, talking about what motivates us to do ballet, for me it is so simple as being able to take a bath by myself ! And just for this, I am eternally grateful for your lovely, fun and motivating classes. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
i am a 62 year old amateur dancers with various physical issues i have to work around. Your class is great and to my delight many of the exercises and routines that I have devised for myself recur in the class as well. The older you get, the more important to stay in shape!
Dear Kathryn, I’ve been following your channel for almost five years. Today I want to thank you for sharing your journey with us and giving us so much useful and empowering advice and information. You are an inspiration for everyone, and such a wonderful role model for dance students and dancers, and everybody else. You spread positivity, respect and human warmth, and this is so important in this era of hate speech, indifference and egocentrism.
This is the best video to have ever happened to RU-vid! Its the holy grail of workouts, combining all your videos into one! I'll be coming back to this lots and lots and lots!
I love this workout; it is so essential to dancers alike. It is just a wonderful thing to do if you got nothing else planned that day. Thank you, Katie.🙂
Amazing workout! After regularly doing it for 3 weeks I finally reached my splits (have been working on them for years!!!) and have so much strength to hold my turnout. (Which is not very good as an adult student, but now really improving!) Kathryn, thank you so much! Your personality and professional approach is lovely! Thank you for being here for us!
I'm not a dancer, but I do ballet strength and stretching workouts to complement my stepping (12in step) workouts. Stepping tightens your quadriceps leg muscles so much, stretching workouts are a must. Thank you for this workout. Good luck in Miami.
wow I know you’ve taught a lot of ballet classes but it’s hard to believe you’re not a full time Pilates teacher after doing this workout because you’re so much better at leading these types of exercises than most of them
I’m a Mama who tries to make it to a ballet class once a week but THIS video and others Kathryn posts fill in for a solid ballet workout when I can’t make it to class. Thank you for taking the time to post these workouts Kathryn! I love to pass them on to all levels of dancers out there!👍🏻❤️
I think these videos are just such a joy. You have single-handedly made my Covid-19 so much less miserable! I was feeling so down without being able to get out and do all my usual classes, and out of nowhere I discovered these - bright, and informative, and lovely.
Love, love this one Katie! I have been combining 3-4 videos to get to this. Glad to you incorporated posterior chain, arms & feet. It is the perfect workout now! Thank you!
I usually just do Essentrics but I started adding this video for more of a workout. It's really making a difference in my strength and flexibility. Kathryn's reminder to arch the back slightly when on the floor doing moves has been a gamechanger for me. Thank you Kathryn!
I just got home from Boston ballets five week intensive and i was worried because i don’t have class for a week and i was worried about loosing what i gained during the intensive. But this video will be great for me to do this week as well as through this year because i can do a nice long workout if modify for my time and needs each day! Thank you for spending so much time and hard work to make this video!
This workout is perfect! I’m 14 years old and I want to take my first ballet class, and I’ve been training a bit for the fall, and I will make great use of this video!
IT is seriously the very first video I found I want to do in the morning! Working from home and having my ballet classes only in the evening, it is difficult to get going in the morning! Love this one! Thank you! And yellow suits you a lot :)
I am so happy that I stumbled onto this video! COVID-19 hit my motivation "mojo" the hardest. I went from exercising regularly and working on a dance for a pageant, to ... nothing. 13 months of NOTHING. Not even walking around the block. Just last week, my motivation "mojo" came back and I crept back into a few outdoor water aerobics classes and a few Silver Sneakers cardio RU-vid workouts (I'm 68 years old). Today, I found this video, and actually made it through the WHOLE THING! I had great dancer technique training in my 20's and it's amazing that my mind and my body remembers that almost 45-50 years later. Your kindness was key. I didn't worry about my extensions being only 90 degrees. I was feeling like a young dancer again! THANK YOU!!!!!!! PS I never could point, and am taking to heart that the toe exercises are key.
Thanks Kathryn! I just did your entire workout. Phew, it's tough!! I've been a fan of your stretching video...do it several times a week and it helps. But now my feet hurt :) in a good way.
Thank you so much for this video. I feel like it's the workout I've always been searching for. I did ballet for 13 years though now I don't do so much but I still orient as a ballerina and my body remembers the things and the muscles and appreciates this SO much!
I haven't danced in years now, but lately I have really been missing it. This was a great workout to give me that little bit of ballet feel while also stretching and strengthening. Thank you so much! You are wonderful (:
Dear Kathryn, I looked to do a correct pirouette and than I found your Internetclasses, the are great. It is sad that you not life in Vienna, because then I would thake classes with you. Thank you so much and many greetings from Vienna. Claudia
Thank you so very much for this video! I am 54 years old and have had surgery on both knees. I can't get motivated to do boring PT stretches and exercises. Working with your videos has taken me back to my younger days! I am really enjoying stretching and working again. Had a barre installed in my home and work out with you every day now. :)
This was a little bit challenging workout for me. But you have made this with so simple and clear explanations. I like your way. Thank you so much for sharing this video with us.
Awesome vid. I'm an avid competitive cyclist and cross country skier and always on the lookout for practice anywhere exercises. I've always envied how great overall shape dances are in. Now, cycling is a pretty specific use of the human body, but I highly recommend this workout for any athlete, not just dancers.
Katryn your lessons are always so super well explained and do this exercise every day because there is nothing open from the dance studios. You are a really good dance teacher
I wish I could like this video a thousand times- this has been the BEST resource for coming back to ballet after 2 years off due to injury. THANK YOU KATIE!!! 💕💕💕
As a performer who isn't able to take classes consistently due to the nomadic nature of the job, I'm so grateful for your videos. They keep me from embarrassing myself when I make it back to a studio. Thank you for sharing your talent and hard work so generously.
Currently doing this workout while quarantined in my house! My ballet studio has closed for a month due to the Coronavirus. I’m hoping to stay in shape! Thanks Katie!
This is such an amazing workout! Definitely going to be making it my main 2 to 3 times a week along with yoga and pilates. Perfect. I'm starting classes at the Scottish ballet in January and you have been such a huge inspiration to me for so long, so now I need to build my body up, this is just perfect, thank you!!
You are just the nicest person, you come across as a friend giving advice which is the best! I’ve never really enjoyed exercise apart from ballet but I love your workouts! Although I’m watching this with a gin and tonic, I can’t wait to do it tomorrow morning!
Thank you for this! I have a lot of arthritis and I must keep fit and stretched . I've had many teachers ; yet so much of what you teach is new to me(and effective !!) I had almost given up my splits, but your coaching helped me progress quite a bit. In one class !
I absolutely loved this, an amazing workout and she says funny things along the way that encourage you to keep going. Will be doing this multiple times a week thanks Kathryn!!!!!
I just searched "ballet workout" and this video came up. Totally loved doing this workout with you! I did ballet recreationally for years and have totally lost my flexibility and strength since college. Thanks for pumping me up to get back into this type of fitness!
This is so helpful. Thank you Kathryn. Yes. I loved all your classes on powhow. So appreciative that you put these classes here now that the website is gone
